ABC’s Paul Lee: "I'm Thrilled to See General Hospital Rocking and Rolling in The Afternoon"
By Luke Kerr on January 10, 2013
Here is some encouraging news for General Hospital fans from the 2013 Television Critics Association Press Tour. Deep Soap’s Sara Bibel tweeted ABC Entertainment President Paul Lee’s comment on General Hospital’s progress.
The question is, is rock and roll, not to mention General Hospital, here to stay?

The actual question is: is Valentini out? I think he is, but I still love the "shout to out" him.

I wish ABC would have come to its senses sooner and dumped Frons instead of the soaps. It has to be obvious to everyone there that HE was the problem. Imagine if they had put as much effort into saving AMC and OLTL as they did with GH?

I am really behind on the behind the scenes gossip. I knew RC was out, but I thought FV was married to a woman and had kids!

What a good shout out about GH! Can't deny the show is on fire! A year and half a go, it was barely getting above 2million daily viewers. Now it is over 3 million! Bravo!

So true, the Soaps didn't die of old age, they were murdered and the killer was Brian Frons. Frons agenda was to get rid of the soaps from the start. Why ABC did not see this idiot for what he was sooner is beyond me. General Hospital is really picking up steam, and steadily gaining viewers month after month. If soaps were really on their way out, this would not be the trend. I think ABC now realizes they really screwed up, and destroyed one of its most prized possessions in All My Children and One Life To Live. I hope Brian Frons is working as a Walmart greeter in some po-dunk town far enough away where he cant cause any more damage.

I agree ABC should have realized the problem was Brian Frons and what they should have done was had Frank run the entire ABC lineup. I think with Frank at the helm he could have not only found the EPs to do AMC, OLTL and GH - but he could have mentored them to understand the business and he could have managed the daytime lineup in such an effective way - as evidence by him managing the GH budget.

Yes, I don't think ABC realized how damaging letting the two soaps go would be? I also think they just let Frons do whatever..and then paid attention a little too late.

I think the tweet is supposed to say SHOUT OUT TO VALENTINI, and not what everyone is interpreting it as. Amazing what a few mixed up words can do

I guess this can be interpreted in many ways, but I am more focused on their actions. They may be happy about how GH is doing right now, but I guess it is too early to discuss anything past April 1.
I also don't think we can assume that they see the error of their ways with OLTL and AMC. They are the ones that extended the rights to PP. If they REALLY wanted to do something with those shows, they would have taken the rights back. So again...what are their actions?

I agree, it was just a shout-out to Frank V saving GH. He is a VERY handsome man. I can imagine how the actresses on the show react to him being gay because he is hot looking. I think I remember a few years ago Linda Dano saying when she came on OLTL she said , "forget the actors, Frank V is so handsome". Whatever, I thank him SOOO much for saving GH!!!!

Me too Paul. You used to need anti depressants to watch this show. Not anymore.
