Debbi Morgan Joins New All My Children
By Luke Kerr on January 05, 2013

Here is some extremely good news for All My Children fans hoping Debbi Morgan would pop up in Prospect Park’s AMC reboot. Morgan announced on Twitter she will be returning to her Pine Valley stomping grounds as Dr. Angela Hubbard.

Thank goodness because I was positively distraught by her horrible performance as that crackhead on YR. Hopefully some new Angie scenes will wipe away the bad memories.

WOW! So we have Angie and David so far for AMC? Looking pretty damn good!
Edited to add that if Susan Lucci does not want to reprise her role its nice to see a character like Angie with long standing history with the show returning. I wouldn't mind seeing Julia Barr as well.

@everyone: Damn baby would like some fries to go with that shake! Hot diggity dogg! This is what I am talking about. Darnell Williams will be soon to follow and you know it. Agnes you are God! Debbie you are a power house.

Debbi Morgan can easily be the center of AMC, if Susan chooses not to return. Morgan is such a talent and I have loved her work for years! I wonder if some cast members were waiting for Agnes to make her announcement before announcing their involvement with the project.

I think the actors are announcing their own deals and I can understand why. Fans Are gonna buy it when actors say im doing AMC or OLTL but they have a hard time buying what PP tells them

@Soap_Stud: yes she could be the center. She was good when she frontburner. Heck she helped carry what little bit of Loving and later The City had left. But could we please get Shannon Kane back? I'm sure she could be like Victoria Rowell and work on AMC and do primetime/film. Just don't bring back christel khalil's equally non-acting sister from another mother Denise Vasi.
Whomever tweeted Denise set thing in motion (
) if she does...

Glad Angie is coming back home!! But where is Darnell??
I could definitely jump on board with Brooke English being the new grande dame of PV! Prospect Park, sign Julia Barr ASAP! Maybe David Canary will be on recurring since the show will be produced on the East Coast?

Yes!!!!!! I hope Darnell is let go from YR and comes back too, Phelps is doing nothing with him anyway.

Darnell Williams is not under contract at Y&R. He's only recurring. So, he could just easily bolt from Y&R and head back to AMC without any negative ramifications. And it's true, JFP hasn't used Darnell for a couple of months now. He needs work and also needs to feed his family. I expect him to announce that he will leave his role of Sarge on Y&R and rejoin AMC at some point this next week or so.

I wonder also if Melissa Claire Egan (Chelsea, Y&R) will want out of her contract at Y&R and head back east to reprise her AMC role. Chelsea really doesn't have that huge tie to Genoa City. Jeffrey (Ted Shackleford) barely makes any appearances with on-screen wife, Judith Chapman (Gloria) and Jeffrey is Chelsea's only tie to Genoa City.
Thoughts?

Although I wouldn't mind seeing Melissa Claire Egan (loved crazy Annie) I would really like to see AMC focus on vets and even smaller vets like Amanda, Bianca maybe even a recast Jamie before they focus on characters like Annie with no ties to the show other than Ryan/JR.

As for the role of JR (ex-Jacob Young), that would have to be recast since Jacob is very much under contract at B&B and in the middle of a very heavy frontburner storyline.

I doubt Melissa will want off Y&R. I am sure network soap paychecks are, for the most part, more $$.

I do want JR on AMC though..With Jacob Young working on B&B, I would love to see a familiar soap face in the role. Ideas?

Tom Pelphrey would be good in the role of JR.

With the three confirmed actors (David, Cara, and Angie), hopefully they are planning to feature the hospital quite a bit. All that is missing is a Martin. Since this is a novel concept (soaps on the internet), I think it'd be appropriate for them to make it like AMC was when it started.
Part of what was so awful about AMC in the past decade was their desire to be "cutting edge" or different. Anyone remember when some singer performed on AMC and Rihanna on OLTL. We are missing the good story telling, which is what is so important to soaps.
As for who I'd like to see come back: Obviously, I'd like Erica, but I would be just as happy with Brooke. Ideally, Brooke and Erica. I'd like Adam/Stuart too, but even filming being in Connecticut, I don't see David Canary coming back. Opal is one of my favorite characters. Jessie is a must with Angie. Tad and Dixie, but both together. If one can't be on there, I'd like an explanation such as they moved. Maybe I'm just odd, but I could not care less about the folks ABC pushed us to like and be interested in during the past decade. I'm fine without Kendall, Zach, Greenlee, Ryan, Bianca, Marissa, etc.
Some random, older characters I would enjoy would be Marion, old Liza (I can't remember her name), and Janet from Another Planet.
In a nutshell, I think the writers need to try to go back to the roots of these "new" soaps. A new format and the year long absence will give them some wiggle room, and to be honest, I wouldn't mind some retconing. I'll happily pretend that Josh wasn't Erica's aborted fetus transferred to someone else's body or that a random person died. Whatever it takes to bring a good story and good actors to the screen/web, that is where I think they'll find success. That being said, I'll most likely watch it if they don't do anything I've mentioned. I just hope we're not being bamboozled again.

I understand that David Canary lives in CT. So maybe it's not much of a commute. And, I understand from other sites that it's only 4 shows/wk with a recap on Friday.
I would love to see Brooke, Adam/Stuart, Tad, Dixie and Opal return. I think that a recast of JR will be needed. However, I hope that they bring back Scott and Madison. I thought that they had the makings of a good story. I am so thrilled that Debbi is coming back and am just waiting to hear that Darnell has rejoined. I think that Ricky Paull Goldin is back on the east coast. He could return and Jake. I'd be okay with that.
Boy, does this make me feel good.

I just bought extra speakers for my laptop and I am canceling my premier cable and going back to the basic small lineup. Saving me money by doing this also. I am making a comfortable spot for me to watch more of my shows online. I am looking forward to oltl. I loved the characters just wish we had the same writers.
I watched the Chrystal Chappell's The Grove today. It is absolutely great. It was an hour long with no interruptions. I saw a lot of favs and the story rocked. It had drama, humor and well developed characters and that is the first one I saw. Can't wait to see more. The filming of the Grove was great. Beautiful scenery, sets, etc.
The more I watch online in a comfortable setting the more I like it. I know a lot of people hook up to the tv but this is great this way.
Like I said I am also waiting to see what effect everything has on GH also.

@irishbangers It's just terrific news, isn't it?! Darnell is definitely on board, and I think Mike as well, but not quite sure yet...

That's great news! Back where she belongs! And that's great that Darnell might be coming also,I didn't know he was on recurring on Y&R. JFP thinks Jason from GH deserves story more than Darnell, so that's proof he needs to go somewhere better.

Hate to say it,folks, but when TV took over for radio it took a while before all the major stars of the older format to flip over to the new one. And, as much as we want to say that this will be BIG it's going to be a good long time before the INTERNET surplants TV like TV did to radio in how we catch what we want to watch. So the idea of Egan or Young or any other star on Broadcast TV to jump to web while they have great contracts will be hard to see unless, of course, their shows opt to kill them off and they are unemployed.
I'm just saying. The shows may come back but it's still unchartered waters they will be getting into where we don't know what the production values will be or even the sets and scripts. Look at how bad GUIDING LIGHT looked in the last few years where they were using REAL offices in the production studios for sets and filming outside where you could hear EVERYTHING else but the sound of the dialogue. Just look at THE BAY/DaVANITY or other websoaps to see the production values and sets or camera angles and dialogue. They're not up to par even to the last few years of AMC on ABC.
GL was on CBS and CBS was still pulling in 20 or so minutes of ad dollars per episode 5 days a week and even for a low rated show that is a lot of money. I won't be watching a 30 minute soap on the web where 10 minutes are commercials. Web commercials bring in FAR FEWER ad dollars then broadcast.
I am not saying that I don't have HOPE FOR THE SHOWS because I am actually rooting for greatness from them because if they do a bang up job with these reboots, others could follow either on TV or the web. But I don't think stars/actors will quit one great format for the untested waters of web.

I'm also surprised that Prospect Park hasn't announced a deal with a cable channel or something where they would air, let's say the RECAP episode so that PP would actually be getting a bit more of a return on their dollar.
Remember, USA NETWORK had a couple of shows where they would air it first and then NBC would air it the following night or week. One of the LAW & ORDER programs was set up that way so that production costs were split and ad dollars went to both channels.
