Ex-Showrunner For Martha Stewart's Failed Hallmark Show is Katie's New E.P.
By Jamey Giddens on December 20, 2012

It appears soap operas aren't the only daytime medium where executives fail upward. Deadline is reporting Michael Morrison, late of Hallmark's The Martha Stewart Show, will be named the new executive producer for Katie.
Morrison is replacing original Katie showrunner Jeff Zucker, who recently jumped ship to run CNN. But...wasn't Martha cancelled after just one season, following its jump to cable?

Katie's talk show seems bound to fail regardless of who is producing it, due to her fake demeanor and her inability to come across as anything other than a pathetic kiss-ass to all of her guests. I seriously don't understand why or how this woman managed to carve out such a long career in television.

It is no secret that "KATIE" is pretty much an epic fail. The sad part is that ABC dismantled their longstanding daytime lineup sacrificing long time fans who were in some cases legacy viewers. Many of us remember coming home from school to mother and grandmothers who were watching their
stories.
As for Katie Couric herself, I had the pleasure of being a "co-worker" when we both worked at the NBC News Bureau in DC about 20 years ago.Katie was a very pleasant person, what one would call a real "go-getter" I remember when Deborah Norville was the new co-host of the today show. I told her she would be perfect for the show and she would probably be asked to fill in during her maternity leave, and more than likely beyond that since Norville was less than popular.Needless to say I was right, and we later laughed about my psychic abilities.
Katie is a strong interviewer and she was great on "Today". That being said, I think she would be good at interview "specials" a la Barbara Walters. Clearly a daytime talk show is not the genre for her.
