At the 11th hour, it appears Prospect Park is moving forward with plans to bring One Live to Live and All My Children back via the Internet. Deadline is reporting the production company has inked deals with SAG-AFTRA and the DGA, and hopes to begin production in the first quarter of 2013.

I'd been hearing that Prospect Park hoped to extend their rights to AMC and OLTL, which had been set to expire at the end of January 2013. However, there has also been interest among both ABC's Daytime and Primetime divisions in the brands of late.
Additionally, Prospect Park principles Rich Frank and Jeff Kwatinetz have been inquiring with literary agents who represent soap opera writers about their clients availability, according to my moles. I can't lie; I was hoping AMC and OLTL's rebirth would be under the stewardship of Frank Valentini and Ron Carlivati, but if PP can make it happen this time around, I will be more than supportive. Here we go again...

If Disney truly wanted these shows they would have taken the rights back as had been reported earlier. But this silly twist just proves that Disney is over these shows.
Pp will fall flat on their face just like the last time. Meanwhile Disney will rake in the dough they are paying them in licensing fees. Lol. I'm so glad that I lost interest in both these shows over a decade ago.
One good this is that if One Life does come back on the web maybe we can be spared of any more One Life characters on GH. Im hoping so. Im so sick of the cross over BS. GH is not a life boat for displaced One Lifers. Go back to your own show or do what other actors do. Go out and audition for new roles. Acting is not stable profession in the first place. You have to roll with the punches and move on to new things.

From tvbythenumbers.com:
"During the show’s first-ever week of repeats (w/o 11/26/12), “Katie” stood as the No. 1 freshman syndicated talk show for the 12th straight week with Total Viewers (2.226 million) and Households (1.7 rating), defeating runner-up “Steve Harvey” (1.5 rating and 1.955 million) with a week of originals by 13% and 14%, respectively. “Katie” continues to trend as TV’s biggest new syndicated talk show since 2009 – going back to the debut season of Dr. Oz."

I don't think it will happen this time anymore than it happened last time. But can someone clarify what the deal is with OLTL/AMC characters appearing on GH. Some can (Todd/Blair/Starr etc) but others CAN'T appear?
Is it something to do with actors having signed on with the Prospect Park project that never materialized?

This may be an unpopular opinion, but rather than ABC attempting to "bring back" AMC or OLTL, why not take a page from Soapnet and just air old versions of either show in either the noon or 1pm time slot. I'd love to watch either show circa the late 70's, 80's, or even early 90's.
ABC owns the footage, right? Seems like they'd save a ton of money, but also slightly appease the daytime audience. And then they can focus on GH's sustainability.

While those numbers do seem to suggest that "Katie" is a success, I thought that ABC's issue was that her show was not performing as well as the soaps were doing this time last year(OLTL for example). It seems like you can always manipulate ratings.

I'm guessing that PP is having a "renewed" effort in order to gain something (anything!) now that their rights are about to expire -- a movie or miniseries, perhaps (and I would be happy to see that, if well done, in either show's case). I highly doubt they have the funds to continue AMC and OLTL in any format that fans were used to, as much as I would love to see it and would wholeheartedly support it. Sorry, I am not about to fall for this "soap savior" story again. Tell me when they're in production, and I'll look forward to watching my beloved shows again.

robertscorpio, Katie is produced at a fraction of the cost, so it's doing well by comparison. I posted that paragraph because someone mentioned above that Katie is failing. Well, it depends on whose standards you're using.
Anyway, as Katie is a syndicated show and not an ABC network show, it's apples and oranges.

Transfigurationjc - I find your attitude and comments extremely selfish and narrow minded. It is not long since GH was itself on the verge of being axed and the migration of a SMALL number of OLTL characters has brought many OLTL fans across to the show (myself included) and helped enormously to boost the ratings. Ron and Frank have made this show incredible on a tiny budget. Prior to this year I had never watched GH, now it's my favourite TV show, but I watched a few eps from before Frank and Ron took over and it was very poor. I guarantee you that if not for Frank and Ron and the OLTL stars, GH would have been cancelled by now.
The AMC and OLTL fans have lost so much, do you really begrudge them a few OLTL characters crossing over? If GH had been cancelled and OLTL lived on, I guarantee I wouldn't be complaining about a few GH characters being introduced to the canvas!

I agree, but didn't they invest 80 million?

Katie IS failing considering they spent 80 million on a talk show that brings in 2.5 or so million viewers a day. Can you imagine how much they pay her?

I truly hope this will be happening for fans because PP has been asses and outright lying to fans. I just don't know what to think. I would love AMC back. Out of all the ABC soaps AMC was always my favorite. If they can bring back the soaps in some form would be a blessing from the soap gods & goddesses. But honestly I don't think PP could afford LaLucci. Susan is AMC all I want to hear first they are bring on Susan on with a contract and I would be happy. PP created the nightmare and lying to fans so now it will be hard to create excitement and get the fans behind PP because how they raked fans over the coal.

It's amazing how some fans have no problem grasping the financial realities of talk shows but are in such denial about the financial realities of soaps.

Right now, from what I can gather, actors who signed contracts with PP have to get permission from PP to play their characters on GH. (So Easton, DePaiva, and Lozano) Actors who did not do not. PP has the right to produce the shows, but ABC still OWNS the shows, the characters, etc. which means they could still employ them elsewhere. It's a loophole I'm sure PP did not think about b/c Ron Carlivati has hinted at behind the scenes issues with PP (not letting Melissa Archer appear)

Prospect Park needs to $hit or get off the pot. I do not want to get my hopes up especially when people are salivating at the thought of Natalie Buchanan and Tomas/Alcazar showing up in Port Charles. I would rather have 12 or 13 week installments of AMC and OLTL or a hybrid show on ABC Family (if ABC Daytime is not interested), then another attempt at full blown shows that ends in disaster. If PP is truly interested, maybe some sort of compromise could be reached. PP could develop an online spinoff like the British soap Eastenders; the show was called E20 (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/EastEnders:_E20). E20 involved some of the younger characters and occasional appearances by veteran cast members.

I'm skeptical. What gives anyone the idea that these people have their sh*t together?

It may as well be a network show, Disney produces and airs it mostly on ABC stations including all the O&Os. And those stations are unhappy with how Katie is performing.

Well, I see it on an NBC affiliate, so it ain't an ABC show to me. As I've written before, Criminal Minds is produced by ABC Studios, yet it has aired on CBS since day one. Are you considering that an ABC show, too?
I'm curious to know how you know stations are unhappy with how Katie is performing. The way the game is played, they will be cheerleaders to the bitter end with shows they air.
