I am very glad to see Chelsea and Adam on the list, and so high on the list at that! I have been a Chelsea fan since day #1.

There are four "real Y&R fans" on the DC team. In fact, we are such "real Y&R fans" that we kept watching through its worst year on the air, 2012. If you'll recall, we caught just as much hell about gushing over Y&R circa 2008 that we currently do now about GH. We just happen to feel Y&R sucked this past year— as did most of our soap journo peers. It has nothing to do with being a "real Y&R fan." I love DAYS more than any other soap currently airing in daytime, yet am hardest on it.

DC should be ashamed of itself and its disgusting masturbatory and fetishistic worship of EJ and Will. They were barely friends (and not until July) let alone anything more than that so they never should have been included in this list of couples. There was nothing romantic, cute, sexual or interesting about them. In fact, the EJ-Will promotion is almost homophobic as it minimizes and ridicules Will's gayness because it requires Will to be sexless and lifeless as nothing was ever going to happen between them. The inclusion of these two as a couple is little more than DC giving tacit approval for Will to go back into the closet (or stay there) instead of seeking a fulfilling and normal gay relationship with Sonny or Neil or any other gay character on the show. He may deny it, but I blame Jamey Giddens for this atrocity. If people don't support or don't enjoy the Will-Sonny pairing, that's fine. It's another thing entirely to promote such an abusive, unsatisfying and unfaithfully characterized twosome such as EJ and Will. This "couple" would top my list of Worst Soap Couples of 2012.

And that is all well and good, but this wasn't Anonymous, Angry Soap Fan's Top 10 List of Hyperbolic Accusatory Inflammatory Statements of 2012, this is DC's List. Which means we here at DC picked who WE felt were the best and the worst. You have every right to disagree, but a bunch of tired, nasty accusations are not necessary.

I enjoyed Y&R last week very much as Jamey it had all elements I like in a soap, Newman house party was kick ass fun everyone deck out in their party dresses. I loved Nikki's dress and those rockin' gold pumps which some people didn't like to complain about and don't understand. People keep trying to recast Victoria give it rest because AH isn't going nowhere and maybe she isn't my favorite Newman heiress but she is great with BM that makes "Villy" adorable and loving couple. Thank you Jamey for throwing some love to us Y&R fans. I'm enjoying Fen (he's a hottie) myself and what I read they have a big story coming as Lauren realizes she had done the same thing to Tracy. There has been majority of negative postings about Phyllis\Kyle and I absolutely love it because it's good soap! Jack did the same damn thing to his daddy because he hated Jill! Karma baby! Kyle has agenda just like his daddy did by sleeping with Jill....things that go bump...

I realize Y&R isn't everyone cup of tea at DC fair enough but Y&R (as past CBS soaps)is completely different dog when all networks had soaps. Each network had their own style or brand of soap blocks which is missing link today. I personally don't want my soap to be driven by camp and high action type of storytelling but rather have a slower pace emotionally driven stories coming from the characters with explosive consequences rather then action pack, super villain storytelling angle. I want my soap to have high impact emotionally drama to create story. To each their own and respect that fact. I don't go around bashing GH just because I hate Ron's style of writing. What infuriates me are people dogging Y&R as being "boring" must not understand the concept of character driven stories. Is Y&R perfect HELL no but good god O'Molly you can't fix something that quick when Y&R has been so brutally damaged over the last 6-7 years...it has only been 2 months & 5 days!

I don't agree with every couple that's on the list. Chelsea and Adam for me are the boredom of 2012 ... but this is a blog that should be allowed to voice it's opinions. Like we can do then in the comments.
But it should be done in a classy way. No reason to throw words around some don't even know the meaning of.

I'm happy that McBam made the list. For me it was the best surprise of 2012 because it actually made me like the character of Sam.
Missing EJami on here but they had crappy writing anyway - once again. Happy about Bristen, who are totally hot.

Victor and Nikki's dancing around each other does nothing for me anymore. I hope they just stay together, so you can actually see some balance with them again. The MAB years were just one reunion followed one break up after another.

This article makes John sound like an uber-douche. If Sam is worth the sacrifice of Natalie and Liam, then I hope Natalie and Liam move on and find better which shouldn't be hard, considering how low John has sunken.

In 2012, GH's McBain & Sam should have the top spot. Now, since Jason has been gone, the show needs to write these characters in meaningful scenes together because the few brief scenes they have shared had no spark.

Also, on GH, while I think TJ & Molly are cute, they haven't had the screentime.

I think Y&R's Nick & Avery warranted a spot since they have chemistry, an evolving romance which fleshes out both characters and gets Joshua Morrow shirtless!

It was nice to see a shoutout to OLTL (because it's stellar run in January 2012 still makes it the best soap of the year but I would replace Viki & Clint with Todd & Blair, who burned up the damned screen!

Bristen is great. Eileen deserves a muscle guy in his late 20s.

Lonewolf -- mastubratory, fetish? Isnt that a bit harsh? But I will say, not crazy about the slave/master thing.

DC used the master/slave reference which are other terms used to describe the Dom/Sub sub-group within the larger gay community (and to a lesser extent in the straight community). It is not a stretch to call this twosome a representation of a fetish sub-group. EJ berated and verbally smacked down Will for months not to mention the roughed up physical treatment EJ gave Will. How anyone could find these two characters to be one of the best couples is beyond me given how horribly EJ treated Will during most of their scenes. Their employer/employee relationship was one notch below a disgusting rapemance. I guess DC was fond of the two actors playing up the impossible with no payoff while spouting high school innuendo written by fired writers who refused to give Will an actual boyfriend. I guess DC doesn't think this refusal to put Will in a proper, healthy relationship was homophobic because EJ said it was OK for Will to be gay. DC should be ashamed by declaring these two be a top couple.

I think your statements a bit inflammatory and yet, the real problem is that anything Will and EJ had is still more interesting and watchable than Will and Sonny's boring and chemistry free scenes. It might be a 'real' relationship, but I find myself having trouble staying awake during their scenes.

I love EJ and Will they need to have more scenes! Ending their dynamic was such a dumb move, but most of what's on Days lately is dumb. These writers suck!

Oh how I love your list. I especially love that Liason is on this list. Truly hate Brian Frons more than I could ever say for not allowing that couple a shot. But love that jaspam is no where to be found on this list. IMO Frons bet on the WRONG couple and the fans suffered through years of jaspam and now that they're finally done the fans are screwed again because Burton has left the building.

Truly would like to see a Liz/AJ pairing if they can't give us Liason!

But I'd much rather have Liason than any couple on this list. Miss what they could have been and what they were, just amazing!

Thank you for putting Tarly on this list! I have loved them since their first scene together. LW and RH have smoking chemistry and the characters are such wicked fun together!

As a big GH and OLTL fan, I actually DISAGREE with Molly and TJ and Clint and Vicki being on this Best of list. I find Molly and TJ really boring and Vicki and Clint didn't become a couple until the last couple of days.

As usual, many Y and R couples missing on THIS list.

Bill and Brooke should be on this list.

Although I like Katie with Bill $Bill and Steffy sizzled my screen.

Niki always looks like an idiot in story with Victor he's verbally abused her unmercifully yet she keeps going back for more....

If only Jason and Elizabeth would have gotten the sanction of Brian Frons... they were written to fail; How he railroaded them in writing then mocked their fans who are ultimately fans of the show...all I asked for was "equity." Never got it...
