Honey Boo Boo Among Barbara Walter’s Most Fascinating People of 2012

Journalistic icon and The View co-host Barbara Walters has named Honey Boo Boo as one of her Most Fascinating People of 2012, US Magazine reports. So why did Walters choose the energy drink loving 7-year-old?
"It's a love story," Walters tells Us of the bond between Alana and her mother, June, on TLC's breakout hit. "It's a very sweet, loving story."
"A lot of people will say, 'For heaven's sake, this is ridiculous, this is a child at 5 or 6 years old entering beauty contests,'" she says. "But the relationship between Alana and her mother -- that's the story, the two of them. It's very touching."
Honey Boo Boo can certainly be described as fascinating; just like a so-awful-you-can't-stop-watching Tori Spelling Christmas TV movie is fascinating.
Barbara Walters’ 10 Most Fascinating People airs on December 12.

Honestly, people need to stop encouraging this little girl. It's not healthy. Does the world really need another Lindsay Lohan?

I do believe that she is being over-exposed for the show by TLC but recently the mom, June, said that with all the money they are making off the show there are no intentions to move or put themselves higher up on the scale of things because of the added income. She wants her kids to remain as they are... no matter what we think of them.
I like June and I think she has as much control over her brood as my mother did when we were their age... I come from 4 boys all within a year to 2 years apart in age so you can imagine how she had to wrangle us in when we acted up.
Plus, all the kids love each other and it's evident.

I find Alana funny and actually kinda smart and clever. I love how she defends and loves gay people, she must have gotten that from her mom, especially if they love her gay uncle.
One good thing I've noticed is that all the money and gifts people send them they give them to underprivilged people. And they are constantly having food and toy drives also.
And what pjc said about June not wanting them in a different house. She said she's saving the money they are making for the kids' trust funds. That says a lot about her. I don't agree with her putting Alana in pageants but she seems to be a good mother otherwise.

What is "fascinating" about selling your child? PJC you really think June is a good Mom and has control of her kids? She is 32 years old and already a grandmother!!! Her daughter was a pregnant teen and all of them are extremely unhealthy and face a future of diabetes, heart disease, etc.
As for TLC overexposing Alana I don't think that is accurate. June didn't have to sign the contract and do the show thrusting her family into the spotlight. She obviously has always wanted her daughter to be a star, hence, putting her in pageants.

In that photo above, the little girl's makeup job (!!) makes her look like Susan Flannery circa 1980.
