Redaric Williams' Tyler is Leslie's Brother on Young and Restless!
By Jamey Giddens on November 26, 2012

The Young and the Restless is moving to build a sexy, new black family, and we couldn't be happier! It turns out Tyler (Redaric Williams), the ambitious, young brutha who will mix it up with Lily (Christel Khalil) at Jabot, is a sibling of Leslie Michaelson (fan favorite Angell Conwell)!

I think this is a hella smart move on Y&R's part. As much as I would love to see missing members of the Winters clan come home to Genoa City, that simply ain't happening. Good to know the soap is at least moving forward with adding a bit more color to the canvas. Onward and upward!

Yes now I can get down with this. I've always liked Leslie and getting her a family would be good. I still want the current black characters used more on Y&R though.

Hopefully they pair Leslie with Neil. Give Leslie a brother, and we have a ballgame here. Then there's the slim possibility that Lily will be paired with Tyler...and then VOILA...maybe she'll have a little more personality with him. *doubt it*

Conwell's not even listed as recurring on some of the sites that keep track of that but her fictional brother is going contract? I think that's dumb. The show needs more black women--make Leslie a main character.

Leslie is freakin AWESOME. Everytime I see her, I think about how she POUNCED on Neil at the Athletic Club. I would almost PAY to see a sex scene with her and Neil. LOL. Not to mention the whole "brush off your shoulder" move she did after a small confrontation with SOME character (Can't remember who)...but clearly she added that. Wonderful actress, cool character, endless possibilities, which means she'll be kept recurring and hardly ever seen. We'll be getting more Lily-white Lily with no personality...

Leslie is AWESOME and she is getting hellva' lot of air time lately w\Neil. This is just what Neil needs a smart intelligent A-A woman to spice it up!
They are creating the new family to intertwine with the Winters family. I like it!
Who's to say she won't be offered a contract now in the processing of negotiating one.

Leslie is a gorgeous woman. She has flawless skin, knockout hair, a pouty mouth, and is a top-notch addition to Y&R.
Stoney, I would pay to see Leslie have sex.

I like Leslie. Still think she is too yoiung for Neil but I am not against the pairing due to that...but I am against it due to her being a day player. Neil and Leslie will get as much play as Devon and Roxy. Is anyone on contract paired with day players or is it just a black male thing on Y&R?
AC needs a contract like yesterday. Her and Tatiana Ali if you ask me. I want my Devon to have an onscreen romance.

@ NathanHastingsSr: Don't worry CK would not allow it. He's black and she don't do black men on the screen! If you remember the "white men only" Statement to the EP in the past. But then again she's only on recurring so that's better than we hoped!

I like Leslie too! She is goo and great to see the cast beef up with some good castings. Let's just hope Scott he can act!

@stoney07: We'll hopefully they write CK like they did for Denise Vasi on AMC, they would have her in and out of the scene in a few seconds. They didn't waste no time driving down the level of acting on AMC with her. They can do the same on Y&R.

I just hope they recast Lily. I won't be able watch CK "not act" around the new eye candy.

Angel Conwell DOES deserve a contract. Leslie & Neil are HOT together. #TeamNestle

I agree that she does. BUt at the risk of soundling like a negative Nelly, I don't think she will get it. CBS/Y&R/Sony were not interested in her before and I don't think that they are now. It's just easier to use her as the person that Tyler is related to more os than Sarge. This way they won't have to go to much into his background nore continue on with that story MAB was setting up with Sarge and Harmony. And he needs to be related to someone so that he can have someone to talk to and care about what he does.

I don't see that ever happening. There was a time when I thought it possible but not now. CK seems to have too mich sway. Almost as much a EB and MS.

@Divatude58: Maybe her recurring status will lead to her departure from the show. That girl does not have the acting chops to carry a serious storyline.

AC needs a contract like yesterday.
Definitely! I have always thought she was too young for Neil, and she does need a contract.
Personally, I have seen a lot more chemistry between Adam and Leslie than between her and Neil, and I have always thought she and Adam were a much better match. TIIC even seemed to be flirting with the possibility of pairing them a while back, but it never went anywhere. Of course. Same thing with Harmony and Tucker, who I thought had all kinds of potential, but no, she was only to be allowed into a lackluster coupling with serial-cheater Neil (although, Tucker isn't much better in the fidelity department).
I find it rather redundant, how every single AA female who steps foot on the Y&R set is automatically paired with Neil, who, in the four years I have been watching this show, has managed to cheat on every woman he was paired with.

Seriously?!? Is this true? If so, that is absolutely reprehensible, and not to mention, downright racist! How in the hell does she get away with such bullshit, and why in God's name would it matter to the audience what race her romantic interest is? As long as there is chemistry, that should be the one and only thing that she is concerned with.
Can you label a woman a douche? If so, then she is definitely a huge douche! IMHO she is not that special, and there is a literal multitude of talented, unemployed young actresses out there who would be thrilled to portray Lily, and not pull some douchy-diva routine while doing so.
What an asshole!

@BetseyD: The Daytime Confidential interview with VR revealed that Vicky went to see the EP to advocate for a young brotha to be brought on to be paired with Lily after the ending of of Lily and Daniel. But as soon as Vicky left the office Vicky said she slinked in there and told them "white men only!" And as you can see we have never until now seen a black man cast as a love interests.

It is recognized that Christel Khalil is not loved, liked or appreciated in the role of Lily Winters on Y&R by a vast majority of posters on this site. (As for me, I can take her or leave her. While I do not think she "pops" as an actress, I also feel that is as much about the writing and characterization of Lily as it is about Christel's performance.) But does anyone REALLY believe that this young actress has the clout on Y&R to dictate with whom she will be paired; that she will only be paired with white men; and that she will not be paired with men of color? Come on. Christel Khalil is not Eric Braeden or Melody Thomas Scott or Peter Bergman or Jeanne Cooper or Michelle Stafford. Dislike the actress and her performance, but please at least be realistic.
Furthermore, on a different, but very related topic, I could not help but smile reading Victoria Rowell's rants on Twitter a few weeks ago. And I especially appreciated when she tweeted that "Sony Exec" Steve Kent stated that "Dru is NOT creative direction Y&R wants to take." The truth is that VICTORIA ROWELL is NOT the creative direction Y&R wants to take. Drucilla Barber Winters is a role that CAN be recast. And at some point in the next 6 to 12 months, I hope that Y&R does recast the role so that the show and, yes, Victoria Rowell, can move on. (To clarify, I LOVED Victoria as Drucilla, but this is ridiculous; that character and the fans appreciation for that character should not be "held hostage" due to "company politics." And please recognize, though it is for our entertainment, at the end of the day, Y&R is a business. And the executives in charge will make (or sometimes attempt to make) $mart bu$ine$$ deci$ion$.)

@SoapSnob: it is a role that cannot be recast. This goes down with Erica Kane. There are some roles that cannot be replaced. Dru is one of them.

@david46208, No, it is not one of those roles. That role of Drucilla can and should be recast. If I recall correctly, you and I both very much appreciated what Brenda Dickson brought to the role of Jill Foster Abbott. So, could you ever imagine Brenda being recast? But, she was. And while Jess Walton's Jill is a very different characterization, the essence of Jill is still very much there. And that is what we need, an actress who can summon the essence of Drucilla. Because the character is sorely needed and unless there is a divine act of God, Victoria Rowell will not be playing the role of Drucilla Barber Winters ever again.

If TPTB at Y&R/Sony/CBS thought that the role of Drucilla could be succesfully recast, they would have done so a very very long time ago. I think that they fear fan backlash. And then it is the obstacle of finding someone to do the part justice. I don't think that very many big names in the business (Debbi Morgan to start) would ever take on the role. She told them NO when they hired her. Because let's be real, why even go through to trouble of a recast when the person doesn't have the ability or the name to pull it off. I think that Renee Jones has the name and skill to do it...and she looks exactly like VR. But I doubt she, after putting her stamp on her own role on Days that died off when she left, would want to take on "someone elses role" (Which is what DM called Drucilla).

I actually think she could have potential but she needs a new interest to make her more interesting.

It's odd that the main story isn't even about Lily, yet somehow the topic goes back to her and the bashing begins.
I for one have always liked her in the character of Lily. Regardless of what hang ups the actress MAY have and I don't think any of us were there to witness this, I'm going to give her the benefit of the doubt. She's not going to be recast so I wish the harsh treatment of her would ease a bit.
I am happy that they've made this new character a relative of an existing character and that character is NOT Sarge. They still need to write him out.
I'd like an eventual pairing of Leslie with Neil, and then at that time maybe somehow we could get Dru popping up back in GC. I could see them going at it over Neil. Let's get this story started.

Is it known for a fact that CK is on recurring?

@soapsnob: Let me break this down for you.
You say: No, it is not one of those roles.
I Say: Brenda Dickson was not a good actress. She was in the line of Ron Moss and Drake H. So almost any replacement was an improvement acting wise. When the actor has not put their stamp on the role then it is possible to recast. What Brenda D, did was to provide a certain "oddity" to the role that was liked. This made her popular.
But Jess Walton who won an Emmy for the role, is an actor's actor. But And yes I could have imagined a recast fro Brenda D.
You Say: And that is what we need, an actress who can summon the essence of Drucilla. Because the character is sorely needed and unless there is a divine act of God, Victoria Rowell will not be playing the role of Drucilla Barber Winters ever again.
I Say: Victoria Rowell did to the role of Dru what Susan Lucci did to the role of Erica Kane. As Agnes has said and even Bill Bell of Victoria Rowell, it was a collaboration. Victoria Rowell not only brought Dru to life, but she gave the character distinctive character traits and a characterization that daytime had never seen before. The women also rewrote her scripts so that Dru was true to form. Those lines that she would say, the way the actress would even shock her castmates and entertain them by them never knowing what you were going to get from her on set, that is what made Dru "Dru." That you cannot replace.
Brenda Dickson just did her lines as they were written. Brenda D. did not collaborate with Bill Bell to bring something special to the role... to OWN the role. So there could never be a recast of Dru given what Victoria Rowell did with the role. Given the way SHE personalized the role. The traits and the essence of Dru is something no other actor can play. And they have had 2 recast attempts and they never worked. So Dru is not coming back unless it is with Victoria Rowell and CBS/Sony knows that you can't mess with the gold standard.
Remember all this is Victoria Rowell changing the scripts, ad-libbing and bringing something to the role that no-other black actor in daytime has done to such a role. Can't be repeated or even tried.

You cannot recast that type of work.

I don't think CK has much clout now, but she probably did under Maria and under LML earlier. A lot of things were out of whack during the past two regimes.
Witness Daniel Goddard crying a river and managing to get his job back. Not to mention that they have a very vocal fanbase. Let's not forget those planes circling CBS with banners.
