No. 5: Trey Clegg, Capitol
The Cleggs had high hopes for golden boy Trey (Nicholas Walker) on Capitol. Unfortunately, fathering a child with a prostitute can prove quite the bump on the road to the White House! Trey came to love reporter Sloane Denning (Debrah Farentino), much more than his career, but constant meddling from his mother Myrna Clegg (most notably Marj Dusay)
and his baby with hooker Kelly Harper (a pre-The Young and the Restless Jess Walton) proved the Beltway supercouple's undoing.
By Capitol's end in 1987, Sloan was no longer involved with Trey. She was being romanced by Arab royal King Al, a relationship that ultimately found her before a firing squad, just as Capitol faded to black. Today people complain about being broken up with via text.

Umm...I wouldn't vote for any of these characters. I would vote for OLTL's Victoria Lord, GL's Ross Marler and DAYS's Abe Carver!

I, too, thought I mis-read the title, since I would not vote for most of these scoundrels!
I thought that Donna Love Hudson would have made a much better mayor for Bay City than fratricidal psychopath Grant Harrison. She even had the perfect campaign slogan: "All You need is Love!" Besides, she needed a storyline a lot more than Grant did.
I think my favorite part of Dorian winning the job of Llanview's mayor was seeing the somehwat intimidated but awestruck Oliver Fish address her as "Doctor Mayor Dorian Lord" all the time. You'd think Starr would work into her Port Charles conversations that her aunt is a US Senator, but then perhaps she's not one to name-drop.
Knots Landing's Greg Sumner already was a state assemblyman when we met him. He was running for, and ultimately won, the race for US Senate. That was the position (US Senator) he resigned in order to take over what became the Sumner Group. Whatever the case, I am glad he took on the Sumner Group and married Laura because it allowed Laura the ultimate revenge on Abby Ewing: Laura became the richest woman in the cul-de-sac!

The only one of these I'd vote for would be E J Dimera, AND only if I could blackmail him and seduce him into a scorching hot Man-on-Man sexual romp at my beck and call. LOL

Sorry JG. I must have clicked right past Ross. Forgive the oversight. I loved the "Dreamgirls" episode of GL where Ross had a fantasy on election day where he was confronted by some of his past loves and Alan-Michael (Rick Hearst) is scantily-clad!

Love the list! Esoucally E.J. Dorian and Jed! I'd also add Doris Wolfe to the list as an Honourable Mention. I have to represt the LGBT population and as much as I loved that storylinr, Dorian's shame of a marriage to Delphiana's fiancee doesn't count.

The Good Wife, a show with the law and politics engrained is overlooked? Where's my guy Peter Florak. Love him. A reformed politician (remember he was "sort of" wrongfully imprisoned) who's still a little sordid around the edges.
