Ex-Young and Restless Diva Victoria Rowell Says Les Moonves and Steve Kent Don't Want Dru Back!

Fans hoping for the day Victoria Rowell would reprise the role of Drucilla Winters on The Young and the Restless received bad news today. The always outspoken actress and author tweeted that Sony TV's Steve Kent, as well as CBS President Leslie Moonves, aren't interested in bringing her or the character of Dru back to the serial. Said Rowell:

I don't really have a reaction to this other then to anticipate eagerly what David has to say.

Crooked bastards! Les Moonves' show-killing ass doesn't care about diversity or anything, other than making sure that he keeps his pockets lined and that Chenbot keeps her job.

I am sure that Peter Bergman, Michelle "Spit Take" Stafford and Christel "I Need An Enema" Khalil are rejoicing over this news.

I can't say I am surprised, though. I knew they had blacklisted my girl. Racism is not a taboo that the folks over at CBS Daytime want to be brought to light, I would imagine. Black characters are treated as afterthoughts on this show, unless they are that mindless bore, Lily Winters.

Good thing I didn't have my hopes up! It's a shame that the folks at Y&R are making such foolish casting choices. Really makes you wonder what their "bottom line" really is.........

I'm sure the CBS HR Dept. doesn't want an employee who wrote a thinly disguised account of working there again cuz it might happen again down the road.
I don't know. I think companies frown on that type of thing.

I look forward to seeing her pop up somewhere else.

Les Moonves is a failed actor and an overpaid TV executive who does not care one little bit about the daytime audience.

I always hoped that Victoria would get cast as Destiny's mother on OLTL. I imagined her as business woman. I could just picture her mixing it up with Tea, Todds, Blair,...It's nearly a year and I still miss that show. I am liking GH, but I thought the OLTL cast across the board was electric. Even those that were meh were brought up by the other actors.

I am 2 months behind on GH, so I am not sure what happened to Crimson, but get her in there as the head of that or the head of Deception. Anything.

When is she going to move on? As much as i like the character the actress' incessant rantings about who is blocking her return to YR is just embarrassing. Have some pride woman and move on

I am not surprised but still VERY DISAPPOINTED. They are still blackballing this woman for telling the truth. What a shame! And it is going to continue to be a blow to their ratings. Y&R will never recover without a strong AA presence. And VR was just the AA to do it. BUt it seems CBS is content to bite off their nose to spite their face.

I noticed that comment about going to another network. I wonder what that was about.

Anyways, this is just the news I needed to let go Y&R for good.

And for those who say that VR needs to let go, you obviously haven't been on her twitter page. She gets 100 tweets a day about Dru anc coming back. So finally she responded.

I hope that the shows ratings continue to fall. Featuring MS/Phyllis daily and every other white woman does nothing for that show. But let them keep up with the insanity of doing the same thing over and over again.

I feel sorry for KSJ. Without Dru or a strong female character that is showcased, he won't get much work. The entire Winters clan suffers from her not being on the show. I am sure that Devon probably would have had a real romance by now if he had a momma to interfere. *sigh* The Winters really have no hope.

She keeps beating this dead horse. She got too big for Y&R, quit and burned her bridges. Les Moonves, is without doubt, the tops in his field. But, he's all business and leaves emotion at the door. That's his job. If soaps are profitable, they'll stay. If not, they'll go. It is that simple. Don't get me wrong, I love soaps ... but they're no longer the profit centers they were in the 60s & 70s.

I don't get this at all! Bringing back Dru would definitely be a ratings grabber and fans are WANTING for Drucilla to return. Does anyone know if VR has burnt bridges and why? I read and heard some of the rumors but VR couldn't had been worse then some of the dust-ups backstage compared to the shennigans that has been happening lately on Y&R with the cast. Sad( Sad(

Sucks, cause Y&R could use some spicing up on the show these days. And Drucilla would definitely do that! Can Phyllis please take a back seat, be on the back burner for a while and let Dru take that spot?

Personally, I'm kind of tired of the Vicky vs. Y&R thing.
I get that people love her character, and so do I, but at this point I would rather see her develop a primetime soap and stop worrying about CBS Daytime.

Let me just say that, barring a miracle, the final nail in VR's Dru coffin has been nailed. I only hope the media and press will stop teasing fans with return rumors. Never happenin...

They are black-balling her because she stood up and cried foul on daytime hiring practices and treatment of minorities. She tried to enact change behind the scenes and of course no one in power liked it because it threatened their positions. They have labeled her a trouble maker for not going along to get along. That pretty much sums up the story.

Yep...this is the final nail...and I think she knows it too which is why she is stating the facts on twitter. She will never be back on Y&R. I just hope these fools don't try to recast and further alienate the fans.

I don't know why this is being brought up again maybe one of her fans asked if Dru would return they often do so she just told the truth; as a VR fan I hope this is the end of it the network and its company doesn't want her.

Enough said.

i'm sorry but TPTB need to realize that they have to do what's best for the show and having Dru back would be best for the show. the Winter's family have been in limbo since her departure and they should have learned this when they tried to recast Malcolm and brought on Sophia (who is no Dru). the fact of the matter is that in the real world you have to work with people that you don't get along with PB, MS and CK need to swallow their childish pride and do what's best for the show. you don't have to go out to lunch with VR, but do your scenes and move on. if Sony wants to do away with rumors of racism then bring VR back and i am pretty sure that in these times where it's hard to find another job, the haters with bite their tongues and deal with it. i agree that VR can move on. i can see her on GH as Epiphany's sister that can take over as the gossip columnist for Todd's paper. Roger Howarth and VR would burn the screen with their chemistry ...

I read her twitter and she gets so many tweets from fans begging her to come back to Y&R. So it appears she just decided to put the truth out there to stop the asking. Her tweets says this happened friday...I am sure she found out about it Friday too. I too hope this is the end of it as sad as that makes me. Let Sony/CBS/Y&R leanr there lesson the hard way. SHowcasing Phyllis and Sharon daily does nothing for their show.

I LOVE Victoria Rowell, but the character of Drucilla Winters has to return & can be recast. Even if they wanna keep the character dead, Neil just needs a STRONG leading lady. Hell, Angell Conwell is right there. Give that girl a contract & flesh out the character of Leslie. They need to Maureen Bauer Sophia's tired ass. I would kill for Renee Jones to be a recast Dru. I don't believe that "retirement" bullshit one bit. Sony gave her the Peter Reckell treatment & she gave them the deuces. We'll see what Y&R has in store to rebuild the Winters family.

At this point, I don't think it is the actors...I think it is the executives showcasing their power by keeping her off the show. You know, "how dare you try to make us hire minorities, we don't want them here"..

I also agree that hiring her back would dispel the racism rumors...but really, ABC needs to get her on GH and see what she can do for thier ratings.

It's truly Y&R's loss.
I stopped watching about 3 years ago and I am considering whether I want to committ precious time to sit down and watch, other than the 2 episodes I watched on You Tube last week.

I'm not saying I won't tune in now but unless this show adds some Sizzle (other than the same Newman junk), it is doubtful that this show will ever count me as a loyal viewer again.

In terms of Victoria Rowell, I've heard rumours that Debbie Morgan might revive A Different World. I've also heard that there may be a revival of the Fame Television series. I'm dubious about this, to say the least. In the off-chance that this does happen, Victoria would be great on either show. She could play a College Professor in the Science dept. who becomes a colleague of Dwayne Wayne and a potential foil to Whitley. She could also be the protege to Lydia Grant, teaching classic and modern dance. But I don't know if either of this will ever happen, but I think Rowell can do many things and I wish her well.

It's the same reason why I cheer on Camryn Grimes and hope that she becomes Y&R's answer to Julianne Moore, a likeable and talented redhead who springboards from Soaps successfully to Academy Award nominations and Emmy Awards.

Y&R can only elicit a shrug from me at this time.

I don't think a recast will go over very well nor do I think it will do anything to improve the ratings. I agree that Neil neds a strong leading lady. But he also needs one who they will write for. One that has relationships and history in that town. No one new will have that.

At this point, my gut is telling me that TPTB think that the Winters have outlived their use. I don't think either one of them is long for this show. I suspect they will go the OLTL formula. A latino core family with a revolving door of AA characters. Of course, OLTL was cancelled using this formula but maybe that's what SOny and CBS wants.

Victoria Rowell also tried to get Debbi MOrgan hired at Y&R back in 2004/2005 but CBS/Sony wanted nothing to do with it or her. But when it came time for them to try to replace Dru without relaving Dru with a big name, they called her up.

She is very vocal about diversity and I think that many networks don't want to deal with that...they are fine and happy with the sttus quo.

While I definitely think Drucilla returning would be a huge ratings grab and I would love to see VR back on Y&R...

Victoria Rowell needs to let it go. Girl, give it up - turn it loose! Move on, turn the page. I'm saying this as a person who generally likes her. But if the head honchos are saying NO - it's time to move on. She has exhausted every avenue - from writing a loosely based autobiography, tapping her co-stars to advocate for her, getting the National Urban League involved, etc. I'm not saying VR's actions are totally wrong, but there's a risk when you go that route. CBS/Sony seem to be addressing the minority issue (or at least making an attempt) by hiring Susan Dansby (sp?) who still is writing for the show, one of the recent directors has an Arab/Middle eastern sounding last name (one of the better directors, I might add), hiring two new African American males (finally!) and at least two Latinos will be entering the canvas. They've even been hiring minorities for several of the small dayplayer roles for certain plots like cops, doctors, judges, etc - something before the Urban League was brought in. So, to me after all of this and they still don't want DRUCILLA to be brought back at this time - is it really about minorities on the show/behind the scenes...or it all of her activity just about her? And I'm not so sure CBS and Sony's objections are just about PB/MS/CK anymore. Just saying - PB's character has been losing to Victor Newman for a generation, MS was recently all huffy about losing her Phick pairing, and they were thisclose to letting CK go (her recurring status makes it easier to drop her if TPTB decide to do so with her having a contract or a guarantee). So I'm not quite as convinced TPTB are solely doing the bidding of those three actors. I may not agree with their decision, but clearly they have made it and they aren't budging.

I'm just saying, I'm trying to be objective. One of her tweets said something about not needing a Charlie Sheen moment to send her packing. I really wish she'd be the bigger person and just move on to something else. Why keep asking to be brought back where you obviously are not wanted? I hope she has been doing more than just beating this drum these last few years. She might have been able to secure work elsewhere (though I know roles for African American women as they get older get more scarce), but I have no idea how much she has been auditioning.

I was hoping that Victoria Rowell would be able to return. It would be interesting to see what the new regime could do with Dru. Especially with Neil in control of Jabot. Let's be real folks...if Les Moonvess had no problem letting Charlie Sheen go, then you know he is not going to lose sleep worrying about Victoria Rowell rejoining the Young & The Restless.

Now on to funnier topics...

When I read that post, my first thought was trying to imagine Victoria Rowell giving birth to Big Sean Evans. Lord in the morning! I burst out laughing. Then I imagined a Ron and Frank what if/comedy episode of OLTL featuring a flashback of Sean's birth. Once I stopped laughing I realized that SoapyBitch meant Destiny's biological mother. Then the thought of Victoria Rowell being in a scene with Terrell Tilford's Greg Evans caused me to start laughing again!
