Jack Isn’t Ready to Roll Over on The Young and the Restless

Katherine (Jeanne Cooper) tried to convince Jack (Peter Bergman) he didn’t want to run an empire and should just stick with one little company, Jabot.  What I had a hard time understanding is why Jack–who was in big trouble financially before Victor (Eric Braeden) was revealed to be alive– is expected to hand over everything he worked so hard to get. Yes, it’s always wonderful to watch Katherine and Jack scenes, but I do not want to see Jack roll over.

It was interesting that when Katherine brought up Victoria (Amelia Heinle), as a reason Jack should change his mind, he felt she was an adult who knows better than to take it personally. However, when Katherine mentioned Nick  (Joshua Morrow), and how Jack was more of a father to him than Victor, Jack remained silent. To me, it sort of implied Jack didn’t think Nick was grown up enough in his eyes. I’m glad Jack remained immune to Katherine’s entreaty.

Lily (Christel Khalil) convinced Cane (Daniel Goddard) to throw his name in the ring to run Jabot. Unfortunately, when Cane approached Jack, he learned Jack had someone else in mind. Cane wondered if Jack was punishing him for Genevieve’s (Genie Francis) behavior, but Jack assured him that wasn’t how he operated. Cane didn't believe Jack, and later told his mother he was done with her.

Meanwhile, Phyllis (Michelle Stafford) was not happy when Summer (Hunter Haley King) blamed her for the loss of Adam (Michael Muhney) and Chelsea’s (Melissa Claire Egan) baby. I wonder just how far Summer is going to spin out of control.

Later, Jack offered Phyllis a job at Newman. I've always loved Jack and Phyllis. The possibility of them working together, and where such a storyline might lead, is almost too much to hope for.

Exactly, why should Jack hand things back just because that temporarily lucid ancient Dragon Lady commands it?

Katherine remains all too unreasonably Victor centric. And why should that woman go back to work at her advanced age and why has she already dissed Jill? Do I foresee just more of the shenanigans of the past coming back?

I care about Katherine and the Chancellors but I'm not interested in Katherine with a past she NEVER had.

Kay was always a friend and ally of Victors but she wasn't really in story with him often. Kay had her own family and concerns. MAB shoved her up Victor ass to give Tucker angst. Tucker is a man who has everything; he has to be pissed about something so his adoption issues and jealousy over how Kay feels about Victor were it. How stupid. I never felt Kay wanted Victor as her son or as a love interest; she had men like Rex, Derek, and Phillip2, who’d want Victor?

Kay never wanted to run Chancellor Industries either, she just wanted to keep control of it. She always wanted to HIRE a savvy business person to run CI, not be one. So it makes me laugh to see her wanting to get back into a game she was never in, and never wanted to be in. It was believable to see Kay go into the office with Jill as part of the mother/daughter story, but ret-conning Kay’s past into some sort of business whiz is ridiculous.

It’s silly to change Katherine’s entire history to accommodate a new character. If Tucker doesn’t fit the past we watched for the last 4 decades, change him or get rid of him! Kay’s past has been with Jill since 1973, the 1st year of Y&R. Every addition to the Chancellor family has fit with both, if Tucker doesn’t he shouldn’t exist.
