It Wasn't The Women in Jason Morgan's Life, It Was The Life in His Women on General Hospital!
No. 6: Sam McCall
It started out with Jason doing his boy Sonny (Maurice Benard) a solid. Since the mob boss was putting his family back together with Carly (Tamara Braun), Jason offered to pose as the father of the child Sonny's ex-girlfriend was carrying. What started out as an obligation grew into one of Jason Morgan's most significant love affairs.
As the hitman helpd Sam with her mentally-challenged brother Daniel, and she helped him grieve the loss of his beloved grandmother Lila (the late Anna Lee), a modern-day supercouple was born. Jason was there for Sam when Baby Lila was stillborn, and even convinced her to donate the baby's stem cells to help save Sonny and Alexis' (Nancy Lee Grahn) daughter Kristina.
JaSam became Port Charles' ride-or-die couple, rushing off to rescue a kidnapped Michael from the clutches of AJ and facing off with the likes of Faith Roscoe and Manny Ruiz. But it was family (hers) and a love from the past (his) that tore them apart.
Sam's newfound mother Alexis wanted her daughter to have nothing to do with Jason. Meanwhile, Jason's old flame Liz was having major trouble in her marriage to Lucky Spencer (Greg Vaughan). After Alexis successfully managed to convince Jason to end things with Sam, her daughter slept with Ric Lansing (Rick Hearst) — Alexis' then-husband and Jason's mortal enemy. Did we mention both Jason and Alexis spied the skeevy activities?
Across town Liz was receiving a shock of her own, courtesy of her husband's affair with Maxie Jones (Kirsten Storms). An explosive encounter between Jason and Liz resulted in the young nurse becoming pregnant and the Liason coupling seeing a major resurgence with fans.
Jason and Liz initally agreed to keep the baby's paternity from their respective significant others, but eventually the truth came out. A bitter Sam began acting out toward the child. First she stood by as Jake was kidnapped and later she hired actors to pretend to hold Liz and her children at gunpoint.
Eventually, Jason and Sam were able to find forgiveness, and began taking on various Port Charles' baddies (Joe The Bomber, Jerry Jacks, Karpov) again. However, one villain proved almost too much for the dynamic duo to contend with, Jason's long-lost twin brother Franco (James Franco).
When the madman kidnapped and raped Sam on her honeymoon to Jason, it almost proved the couple's permanent undoing. Jason couldn't accept that the baby Sam was carrying belonged to Franco (It realy wasn't. Damn you, Heather Webber!). He went so far as to suggest she give the child up for adoption. Sam, who desperately wanted to be a mother, decided to keep her child and found friendship and possibly more with Llanview cop John McBain (Michael Easton). Meanwhile, Jason turned yet again to Elizabeth for support.
In the end, not even baby-switching, DNA tampering or a rooftop kidnapping could keep JaSam apart. Can't say the same about a bullet to the back on the docks though.
