Ex-Y&R Showrunner Maria Arena Bell: "I Had NOTHING to do With The Way They Are Resolving These Stories"

In case you missed the memo, former The Young and the Restless showrunner Maria Arena Bell wants viewers to know she has nothing to do with how her storylines are being wrapped up. According to Soap Opera Digest, the axed EP wrote on her Facebook page:
To any Y and R viewers who read my Facebook page... I had NOTHING to do with the way they are resolving these stories. Despite my name still being on the show— which it should not be — I did not intend to have Phyllis trial end with charges being dropped or any of these other story lines now playing. I am no longer a part of this show in ANY way, folks. It's all the new guys.
Wait, she's not responsible for the way current storylines are being smartly wrapped up, but she admits to greenlighting Victor (Eric Braeden) marrying Sharon (Sharon Case), Kevin (Greg Rikaart) becoming a chipmunk bankrobber, Skye dying in a volanco, people being poisoned by crop dusters... Okay then. Just so long as we're clear on things!

It is amusing, yet baffling, how nowadays Maria Arena Bell is at fault for the sky being blue.
As said before, she was 100 times better than Lynn Marie Latham. And the jury is still out on the new ones. But imo it is clear the JFP crew aren't gonna magically change Y&R into something fabulous.

Obviously Maria Bell didn't wrap up the story because otherwise we would have had ANOTHER illegal trial in GC. Between the DA using the office to harrass the Newman family and the rediculous trials, it would behoove Maria to maybe brush up on the law before she writes anything else court related......

@Marknsprmo, I totally agree! Like we need another stupid trial that goes nowhere. They're just a time suck.

What a stupid thing to say. She should just keep her mouth shut and let the show go on, not try to bring it down with her spite. No wonder the show seems better, more family connections, bringing back the Newman/Abbott rivalry at it's peak. I just hope Jill Phelps doesn't make the show as dark as she did on GH, and favoring only a few male characters. And please, don't bring James Franco on, he ruined GH (thank goodness the new writer and producer on GH is bring in back to waht it was). I think Josh G, will be a big plus to Y&R.

All I know is I LOVED Jack's eyeroll when he exited Victor's office yesterday and Victor was still talking shit.

I actually feel bad for her. She needs to stay of twitter and stop discussing Y&R cause it continues to make her look like a complete fool. I never saw someone in daytime go from complete love to being one of the most hated women in the community until Maria. I guess that fool Ellen Wheeler is a close second.

I didn't like most of what MAB did to Y&R, but as you all know, I thought the "hatred" for the show was just ridiculous on this site. Not necessarily from the operators, but from mostly everyone. And while the show was in a horrible place, not everything on Y&R was terrible as was basically said here. There were certain stories and certain things I liked about the MAB era. In fact, sometimes I felt like the treatment toward her was just downright disgusting.
Most times, Y&R was NOT the worst soap of the week, however after a certain amount of time, I'd say around 2010, NOTHING that happened on the show was good to some people. While other shows were equally as bad, if not worse than Y&R, Y&R still got the brunt of the negativity. I actually had to stop visiting and listening to certain podcasts for a while because it all became a big redundant. HOWEVER, I must say, MAB is a fool for even mentioning the name Y&R. If I was her, I would go on pretending that the past 4 years never happened. I don't think she's a bad writer...I could be wrong. I don't think she's bad when she's FOCUSED ON WRITING, and when she's not basically running the entire ship herself. I wish she'd just go back to B&B and team with BRad Bell...and let Kay Alden come back to Y&R.
I have noticed an improvement in storyline direction and dialogue. Background music and camera angles #notsomuch

True, at least Ellen Wheeler shut up after GL was off the air. Guess when you have murdered a show there is no point to say much more. But she did plenty of her crazy crying during her time on the show.

And another reason we know it's not her work is because you don't see any Nick at Nite actors on anymore. That's another sign the show is MAB free.
Actually, your dumb joke isn't even true as Phelps brought in two people from a show which wasn't even good enough for Nick at Nite, and got bumped to Teen Nick, in Hollywood Heights.

Ryan-Scott ... exactly! I thought the same when Jack existed that office. PB managed to steal that entire scene and get the last laugh on Mr. Gudegast with just that one little eye roll. That spoke volumes to the thespian "abilities" of EB.

I would be upset as well. I would not want my name associated with this mess. It has gotten worse. Phyllis off just scott free!!! The writing is horrible the scenes have no length to them and no meat. I'm really disappointed. I feel like this is the last regime for my favorite show.
