I am so thrilled that he gets to show many more people how much of a wonderful actor and singer he is. We've used some of the music from the film soundtrack at the studios I teach at. Little tid-bit. David Toms (ex-Billy/Y&R) was in the film as one of the "Newsies"...
I liked Ron as Alan so count me in that club. But I loved Chris as Alan, probably my favorite Alan. Nothing against Ron and honestly it took about a year to warm up to him having definite bias because growing up with Chris in the part. But the one thing Ron did which made me change my mind was Ron didn't go out of the way to change Alan to HIS liking as some recasts. He kept Alan's personality intacted and his chemistry with the other Spaualding family members. He & Grant as with Chris had great chemistry as he did with Marj Dusay's Alexandra the same as the amazing chemistry Chris had with Beverlee McKinsey. The plus was his chemistry with Lizzie, when HP played Lizzie as a little girl and Alan gave her own monogram briefcase. When Lizzie got sick it truly pained Alan and trying to fly in specialist from everywhere or when Lizzie shot Karl and Alan trying to cover it up...that's what good grandpa's do for their grandkids. Alan was a good grandfather. Hayden was always on his lap or going to Spaulding Enterprise with Alan...simply family dynamic. Those too lit up the screen together playing grandfather and granddaughter.

He keeps getting better looking as the years go by. I sure do miss Guiding Light and the Spauldings.

Ron Raines was great as Alan Spaulding. I miss seeing the actor on a regular basis. I am not a bit surprised he is staying busy on the stage.
