Brad Bell Gives The 411 on Susan Flannery's Bold and Beautiful Exit
Break out your hankies, kids. The moment The Bold and the Beautiful fans have been dreading is finally happening. Susan Flannery will take her final bow as overprotective fashion matriarch Stephanie Forrester this December. Showrunner Brad Bell spoke with TV Guide’s Michael Logan about how he's writing out the legendary actress and character.
TV Guide Magazine: Was it always the plan to use Stephanie's lung cancer as a way to write Susan off the show?
Bell: Susan has been talking about leaving us for a while now, but I knew that I could go into the cancer plot and come out of it two ways. Stephanie could survive it, or we could take the story to an unfortunate end. We will try to do justice to the disease itself, playing it honestly and accurately, but the primary goal is to honor both Susan and Stephanie and to give anyone who watches something beautiful to keep with them for a long time to come.
Bell also opens up about Flannery's demeanor on the set as her time winds down.
TV Guide Magazine: So far, Susan has chosen not to give interviews about her departure. How is she handling this?
Bell: Susan will not allow herself to get sad about this, to be traipsing around the set in tears. Like Stephanie, she is not that kind of woman.

Stephanie leaving won't effect the story at all. She was only viable as a mother hen to Ridge. Without him, she is useless.
Here is hoping that Y&R gets someone like Judith Chapman on B&B and not put Donna back with Eric. I really just don't want to see that.

As sad as this will be, at least they are going to try and do it right.
Hopefully until December, they will keep the triangle from hell off the screen.
Honestly, how they are going to pull this off without having Ron Moss make some type of appearance? It would be nice for him to come back just for this, and then if Brad wants to recast Ridge do so later. On Y&R one day
Brenda Dickson was playing Jill, next day it was Jess Walton.
We the viewer can handle it, just make it Ron for Stephanie's departure, Please....too much history there for it to be someone else.

I love Susan Flannery and I loved her character, if she is leaving I am glad the character is passing away because they could never ever recast this part. Just like the character Sally, when the actress passed a way there was no way there could ever have been another Sally.
Now Ridge on the other hand, a recast would be just fine. Ron Moss had gotten so ridiculous looking with his died black hair and mutton chop sideburns, not to mention the silly scarves, it was getting exceedingly hard for me to view him as leading man that two women would want to fight over.
Let Ridge have a horrendous accident, where ever he is, and it result in him having to have some major plastic surgery, then bring in some handsome leading man material via a recast.

This was a fantastic read. I love Michael Logan. It's going to be all about Stephanie and the people and family...Yes Brad said Felicia & Kristin will return. Even doing a special effect so Sally comes to see "Queen Stephanie" lots and lots of flashbacks. Michael came out and ask You got to have Ridge...Brad was cagey, either Ronn will return for this story again or Ridge is going to recast in near future, meaning fast...curious? Maybe Brad has already approached an actor....hmmm
