CBS Daytime to Provide Special Programming For Breast Cancer Awareness Month
During the first week of October, CBS Daytime will devote special programming to support Breast Cancer Awareness Month. In a released statement, CBS Senior VP of Daytime Entertainment Angelica McDaniel said:
I can’t think of anything more important than reminding women to get a mammogram or do a self-examination during Breast Cancer Awareness Month. I’m proud that our daytime shows have stepped forward to support this cause.
Below is a list of Breast Cancer Awareness Month-themed content slated to appear on CBS Daytime:
Oct. 1: The Price is Right will team up with Ford "Warriors in Pink" to promote Breast Cancer Awareness month. Host Drew Carey and the show’s announcer George Gray will wear “Warriors In Pink” shirts and ties. Audience members who are breast cancer survivors will wear “Warriors In Pink” scarves. A few of the survivors will participate as contestants, with one of them earning a chance to play the popular show staple, Plinko, where a $10,000 donation will be made to the Dr. Susan Love Research foundation. Carey will also take part in a special public service announcement for “Warriors in Pink” during the show.
The Young and the Restless’ Kay Chancellor (Jeanne Cooper) will wear a Breast Cancer Awareness pin.
Oct. 2: Lily Winters Ashby (Christel Khalil) will be seen wearing a Breast Cancer Awareness bracelet to pay tribute to the cause.
Oct. 3: Let’s Make A Deal’s Wayne Brady will wear a pink shirt and handkerchief, There will also be a pink-themed deal for contestants, consisting of electronics with pink covers for the iPhone and iPad.
Oct. 5: The Bold and The Beautiful’s Stephanie Forrester (Susan Flannery) will bring focus to Breast Cancer Awareness Month by discussing her mammogram results.
The ladies of The Talk will also team up with “Ford Warriors in Pink”. Desperate Housewives’ James Denton will guest to discuss how his family members battled breast cancer.
Members of The Talk audience will be comprised of women who have all battled and survived breast cancers, and several of the survivors from “Warriors in Pink” Models of Courage team will share their stories. Additionally, The Talk will give away a 2013 "Warriorized” Ford Escape during the show.

Kudos to CBS for doing a PSA across all of their daytime. I can remember all networks especially their daytime programming always did social irreverence PSA as this one. Sad when only network is doing this type of programming now days.

Wonderful reminder that all women (and men) need to check our cans on a regular basis.
I had a lump a few years ago which turned out to be nothing but the waiting period was a slice of agony.
Rod Roddy, the former announcer of the Price Is Right, died from breast cancer.

I suggest free mammogram for women. It is Breast Cancer Awareness Month and the league supports the American Cancer Society. However, the NFL pink jerseys that supposedly benefit the ACS don't benefit it as much as people think.
