Did The Young and The Restless' Eric Braeden Throw SHADE at TV Son Michael Muhney on Twitter?!

What in the fee-fi-fo-f*** is going on behind-the-scenes at The Young and the Restless these days? Whatever it is, it keeps finding its way on Twitter!

We knew when the always outspoken Eric Braeden (Victor) joined the social media site (Thanks, Chubster for the head's up!) it wouldn't take long for some ish to go down. Following a tweet from TV son Michael Muhney (Adam) about how insulting it was to "the actors & the audience" that TGVN was once again presumed dead, Braeden went IN!
Here's the tweet from Muhney:
Braeden retorted:
Well damn EB, tell us how you really feel!

I'm torn lol. I think MM is insufferable and not as great as he thinks he is. BUT the digusting Victor and Phyllis love-fest that Y&R has become is tiresome and the rest of the cast is probably even more sick of the Victor and Phyllis Show than we are.

Muhney could disappear off the canvas of Y & R and I sure as hell wouldn't miss him. Frankly two grown men tiffing on Twitter is ridiculous. Cripes - Twitter. Really?

Okay, show of hands:
Who thinks EB started a Twitter account just so he can start telling people off?
I swear, the backstage histrionics of this show is the entertainment 'gift' that keeps right on giving! Just bizarre.
I don't advocate the use of muzzles but...

He wasn't dissing EB, he was saying that it was insulting and dumb s/l to the actors and fans when we all know that Victor is not dead or going anywhere, so whats the point of it again? It is stale and tired and no wonder soaps are being canceled left and right with the dumb s/ls that is not working and execs that don't know what they are doing.

Very good point. Why complain about someone that has already been fired?

Team Braeden!
Michael Muhney has been shooting his mouth off on Twitter and other message boards for years. His ego is enormous and out of control. I've lost count of the number of times he's had some internet meltdown. He routinely fights with fans and makes passive aggressive digs about his coworkers. After Tony Geary's Emmy recent winner, he had a nasty little hissy fit.
Just recently Muhney ranted about Victor's storyline and bragged about rewriting 50% of his scripts to suit his own liking. He seems to believe he is the authority on Y&R and entitled to write the damn show himself! It's ridiculous. It's about time somebody gave him a smackdown and who better than Eric Braeden! Go, Eric, go!

I had to significantly cut lines in today's scenes that REALLY had a "gushing" effect over Victor. What you saw, on air, was tame in comparison to what was written. I was disappointed at the out-of-character writing for Adam (regarding his father) in the final 10-12 "Adam" episodes before the October 12th new regime scripts. There were lines that I cut like, "I'm so sorry Chelsea that I ruined your shirt crying & sobbing on your shoulder all night about my father." And "I dont even know who I am anymore without my dad." And there were even lines with Adam glorifying Victor speaking of how much a family man and good father (to all his children) Victor was. And it had Adam talking about how he now understands the kind of amazing, loving father that Victor was and he hopes to one day be just as good a father to his own children as Victor was.
I was so confused by the out-of-character lines that I ended up cutting more than 50% of all of Adam's dialogue in the final 9-10 shows (that I was in) before the new regime's scripts came in. And I'm rather proud of the Adam/Victor scenes on Oct 10-11 that air just before the new regime's scripts start on Oct 12th. Through lots and lots of cutting and some rewrites I was able to hold on to Adam and his voice and turn some rather illogical, irrational Adam scenes into something that made much more sense for the character.
From October 12th onward, I feel that almost all the characters start to return to form, and start sounding more like their unique characters, with their own unique voices, rather than speaking dialogue that moves the plot-of-the-week forward, never mind if it was something that that specific character would never think or feel or say.

Neither should be tweeting about the show in a negative way. It's damaging to the show's image. Screw them both for acting like babies. Throw Michelle in there too...

These threads about these four actors is all so just very typically polarized. They are hated or loved but they (like us) have every right to express their opinions publicly. It's been done since the dawn of moving pictures by stars much bigger than any of these could ever hope to be.
siomonstuart2003 ... I agree with your comment. MM was not dissing EB at all, in fact he was probably trying to support him.

I agree with Muhney and think Braeden is as much a bully as he character. Is the great ALMIGHTY ERIC BRAEDEN the only one allowed to have a voice? An opinion?!

Make no mistake about it. If Adam was the center of that SL losing his eyesight for 5th time in less than that years, MM would have been praising the show and the script. He is a nobody in the grande scheme of this show and definitely shouldn't be bragging about changing the writers scripts. To quote the Donald, "you're fired!"

Whenever you hear a soap actor bragging about re-writing their scenes, you know a show’s in trouble. No one’s been steering this ship for a long time and it shows. Writers write. Actors act. Cut a line here or there to make the dialogue/scene flow better, okay, but 50% cuts?! From a guy who’s been on set for a minute? A guy who then has the balls to turn around and post about it on a message board and Twitter? I’m not a fan of Jill’s (still pissed about GL) but, boy oh boy, does she have her work cut out for her. Muhney better watch out. He might wake up one day and discover that the role of Adam Newman is now being played by Kale Browne.

I think everyone is reading it as an attack on EB when what MM is saying is it IS ridiculous that TGVN, world renowned business man, famous guy is missing and nobody knows what he looks like. It's not in the papers. I mean really. Could you imagine Donald Trump just showing up in your town calling himself Christian and no one questions it. The storyline is a bit far fetched.

MM reminds me soo much of VR. Both are unprofessional egomaniacs - i hope JFP muzzles him. If what was tweeted was not an indirect attack then why does he still stay there? However bad MAB was as a writer when MM critiques her work and storylines that Victor is in he is indirectly insulting EB who is a friend of MAB. I dont know why i'm commenting here coz i hate all of them

Not for nothing but JG said in one of his recent interviews (either Nelson Branco or Michael Logan) that they have been allowing the actors to tweak lines from the remaining MAB scripts until they started taping the scripts under the new regime. So MM changing his lines was something that was allowed for all of the actors.

"I ended up cutting more than 50% of all of Adam's dialogue in the final 9-10 shows"
Um, that's way more than a "tweak", it's a major rewrite.
I'm sure Sharon Case would have loved to have cut 50% of her lines and rewritten all her scripts to her own liking. LMAO. But, clearly, she didn't, so I doubt all these actors had carte blanche power to do so like Muhney is claiming.
I also wonder how Muhney changing 50% of his scripts affects his screen partners. It can be disruptive and throw off production when actors decide to make significant script changes. There is a reason writers write and actors act.

What bullcrap.
MM doesn't give a shit about Nick & Victoria standing next to Victor in a fictional moment. He was expressing what 95% of Y&R's audience screamed about these past months concerning this dumbass storyline. It was nonsense and it cost MAB her JOB. Bye, bye you crap writer. She wrote a s/l that EB pushed and it blew up in their faces big time.
Now EB needs to shut the fuck up and go to work to bring the former glory of Y&R back, if he's capable of it. His arrogance on twitter yesterday was disgusting. He made it personal and that was out of bounds. I think EB knows he screwed the pooch, but doesn't want to acknowledge it, so he tried to take it out on MM, who has always said wonderful things about him in the press. EB must think he is Victor Newman both on and off the set. He's delusional.
EB is a despicable old man that needs to dial his fat ego back. MM told the truth as an actor, but it's obvious that EB the man can't handle the truth.

I think he is a pompous ass..Eric that is, not Michael. Kudos to Michael for speaking up about the terrible writing and caring enough that we "the fans" don't have to suffer recycled stories. Must be jealousy on Eric's part. Everytime he is on the screen I have to rewind to hear what he says because he mumbles all the time. I guess he is used to recycled storylines and likes them because he doesn't need to remember any new lines. It doesn't matter that Michael has been on the show for "only" three years. In my opinion he has carried the show for a long time. Why don't you retire Mr. Eric Braeden? Being a diva really doesn't suit you

Like him or not, Muhney has proven himself as an actor in his "mere" 3 years on the show. It's obvious that he puts his heart and soul into his character. I've never seen a soap actor so passionate about the character they play. He has a deep understanding of "Adam" and has always been vocal about his opinions on the writing and s/l...even his own. He has expressed disagreement with several things "Adam" has said and done because its not true to the character.
Braeden is another story. He has admitted to "phoning it in" on a regular basis and has a very shallow perspective of "Victor". He wins in the end. Period.
Muhney's comments on the current s/l were more about the way the other characters responded to VN's latest "death" than the death itself. I was nauseous. Watching everyone VN has hurt crying and talking about him like he was some kind of saint. It was ridiculous and yes, insulting. And now VN can come back to town with yet another clean slate and be a hero.
Please.
Muhney is the future of YR. No need to argue and say he isn't. Just watch and see.

I'm team Braeden! I will say Victor has died 5 million times, the best time Victor died storyline was; when everybody in Genoa City believe the Great Victor Newman died in 1993. When he was in Kansas with Hope, but shock the citizens in GC. Jill dropped her glass and shatter! However when Victor was sitting in that chair and turned around and Jack damn near had a heart attack!
I think Maria was channelling that era, and she failed! Hey Eric Braeden not going to shut up, so I've accepted that! However Muhney he get so offended if somebody ask him a question on twitter. Muhney take a shit and shut-up! He in love with himself, Hmmm!

Well I guess that explains who wears to be panties over at y&r. Michael M is so correct. I have over 30 y&r shows on my dvr that I refuse to watch because I cannot take anymore of this nonsense. To see everyone in town turning on Sharon and Tucker, even their families are siding with Victor, how insulting indeed to the audience. Just this year victor pulled the same thing on thing on Billy. Everyone thought he was dead while his while his daughter fought for her life. Yet he was not condemned and for the only 2 (Billy and Victoria) who who were outraged, they have since not only forgiven him but have forgotten. This show sucks.

So MM gets credit for being passionate about the character that he has played for 3 years, taking ownership and speaking out when something isn't in character to the point of changing the dialouge 50% (I hope he gets a writing credit)....and EB is a diva for doing the same thing for a 30 year character?
The Barry Bonds effect.

This is hot button opinion poll on this story!
This time I will have to stand up for Eric Braden. I'm not a EB die hard fan and absolutely hate how MAB had written him the last five years. On Twitter some the remarks, statements, accessions toward people MM as made is pure egomaniac at its finest. Sometimes MM has also made some correct statements...but he's not a daytime veteran of 32 years and criticize story-lines of other actors is not becoming or professional. As mentioned in early post about his own story-lines in question. MM wants the spotlight constantly to shine on him and MAB did that for him. MM turns around a bites the hand that feeds him in MAB stating rewriting 50% of her scripts! Hmmm...I smell fear possibly knowing he as well is MAB casting and JFP's reputation...sucking up are we!

Oh, No, he didn't!!
Michael is thoughtful and calls out crap when he sees it. My hero! What's your problem ERIC? Michael wasn't attacking you. He's cerebral, intelligent, and really is the smartest guy in the room!! The whole VICTOR AMNESIA storyline was preposterous!! I would laugh...but who can laugh at a storyline so pathetic and unworthy, yes, even of Eric Braeden!
Michael Muhney ...the "Truthstalker". I love him!

The Barry Bonds effect.
Thank you. I was going to say the same thing. EB didn't like MM's comments so he called him out on it. I have seen MM do the same thing many times on Twitter to fans that don't like Adam or his storylines. He will even send nasty DMs to them. I'm actually surprised he's been so quiet about this.
For once, I don't think this is all on EB. Both men have huge egos and if they want to dish it out they should be able to take it as well.

Don't be naive. MM never had a bad word to say about anything unless he felt slighted. He dogged Tony Geary on twitter for winning another Emmy saying that it did nothing for the genre for another old guy to win. He was also not nominated. Now tell me, what would it do fr the genre to ave mediocre actors to win? Nothing. He was just salty. I don't remember him complaining about the redundant sight loss for Adam. How is Victor's disappearance any different from that. MM is disgusted because he has been backburned while others have not. He doesn't like being the "B story". That is his gripe. He has complained and compained about hs lack of air time. He thought that he had equal opportunity to be the heir apparent to EB. He's not. That is JM. Thats really his complaint.

Am I the ONLY one here who preferred the first Adam? His portrayal was subtle and nuanced. I CANNOT STAND MM AS ADAM! I despise the character.I agree that this Victor storyline was nonsense-- although I felt it allowed Gen to show her acting chops-- and I cannot wait for Niki and Victor to ravage Sharon and Tucker. However, there have been other foolish storylines involving MM. I don't care how great you think you are as a character and actor a level of professionalism is demanded of any worker(yes MM you are an employee). An employee should complain to his boss not about his boss on twitter.
