Iyanla: Fix My Life Premieres Strong for OWN
By Luke Kerr on September 19, 2012

Oprah’s cable network OWN has received more positive ratings news. According to Deadline, Iyanla: Fix My Life was the channel’s best debut since the network premiered. Meanwhile, Welcome to Sweetie Pie’s hit a series high with its second season premiere.
Featuring life coach Iyanla Vanzant, Fix My Life’s 10 PM Saturday show earned a 1.18 rating in the women 25-54 demo and 1.1 million total viewers. That was second in the demo for its time period among all ad-supported cable networks behind ABC Family’s airing of The Blind Side.

I normally enjoy irony, but I find it sad that--for all the good Oprah has brought to the world--her biggest success on OWN could come from this bloated gasbag and her empty rhetoric. I would have called the show Psychobabble, but I have to admit, "Iyanla FML" sounds about right.

I caught an episode of Starting Over years ago and this woman was on it. There was just something about her that rubbed me the wrong way. The other "helpers" as well come to think it.

I actually like Iyanla. I like her new show, but I really like her on the Lifeclass shows. I'm glad it was the highest debut for the network.

Can somebody tell me why Iyanla Van Zant is famous? I never understood why she was famous. She had problems, and she talked about them? I don't find anything about her appealing.
