BREAKING NEWS: Genie Francis AXED at The Young and The Restless!

The pink slips are a' coming over at The Young and The Restless. CBS Soaps In Depth is reporting Daytime Emmy winner Genie Francis has been given her walking papers. According to the magazine, Francis was let go for "budget reason", but I heard the daytime veteran's tenure on the show wasn't well-received by the brass at CBS and Sony.
Memo to General Hospital showrunner Frank Valentini and head writer Ron Carlivati: Give Genie a call. Laura's needed over in Port Charles right about now!

I Love Genie Francis and wish her the best. I wish she had come to Y&R under a better show runner than that ghastly Maria Bell. She was on a long list of great actors who were sadly misused under the delusional scribes tenure.

I am just giddy as apple pie that Genie is a goner from Y&R! Never liked her character and I'm glad that JFP isn't messing around over there at Y&R. She is going to pare that cast down considerably. However, this now begs another question:
Now that Genie is gone, will Cane (Daniel Goddard) and Lily (Christel Khalil) follow her off screen only to have Lily be the only one to come back in the form of a different actress?! One can dream ya know!

I hope she goes back too, but should she be paired up with Luke? I know she left with Scotty, so I would love to see her with him or someone new. The end game should be Luke, but I want to take a detour. Plus he has his hands full with every other over 40 on GH. I am surprised Monica isn't after him.

I have no problems with Chloe and Kevin is a good character but he needs better storylines than the crud he has been getting the past 5 years by show killer Maria Arena Bell.

You're right, there is just no way that Frank and Ron can recapture the magic of Luke and Laura from the 1980's. I do think that it would be great if Genie did return to GH in time for GH's 50th anniversary episode. Now that Genie is free, maybe perhaps bring her back for Edward Quartermaine's memorial service for an episode or two and then bring her back for the 50th Anniversary episode. Genie is largely known as Laura on GH and not any other role she's ever played. That's one of the reasons why I think Ron and Frank should bring her back but write for her in a smart way. Don't try and force something that won't eventually work and may end up blowing up in their faces.
