General Hospital: Perkie's Observations

The One Percent Club are hanging out at some warehouse, waiting for Jerry to show up with the counter agent. Todd is certain Jerry will show up, since they have the money. Sonny’s angry that Jax didn’t do something about Jerry long ago. Johnny wonders if Jax knows Jerry’s whereabouts, which of course, Jax doesn’t.

John tells Dante that Todd is involved. He explains the meeting of the One Percent Club, including Sonny. Sonny calls Dante to see if he’s with Lulu, since nothing else is important right now. Dante asks if Sonny is home with Kate or waiting for Jerry. Dante warns that he won’t let Jerry disappear with the cash. Sonny says Jerry will bail if he sees cops around. The tech guy says he doesn’t know where they are, but that they are within a 5 mile radius of a cell tower.

Shawn wants to discuss the kiss with Alexis, who’s too busy trying to keep him alive. She’s sure someone will find the cure. She admits she’s open to the possibility of something with Shawn.

Molly and TJ continue to discuss their bucket list and how the one thing remaining is the lovemaking one. Alexis checks in on them, but Molly deflects. Alexis leaves them alone to discuss possibly doing the deed. Molly asks about protection, which TJ doesn’t have. He wonders if it matters if they’re going to die. Molly doesn’t want to get pregnant if she’s going to live. She’s too nervous to do anything anyway, so they simply lie on the bed and hold each other.

Liz asks Patrick about Ewen’s condition. She isn’t sad to hear that he died. Patrick asks about Robin. Liz says Ewen only talked in terms of helping Patrick with his grief. Patrick doesn’t understand why Ewen’s last word was Robin’s name.

Sam says she should never have gone to see Heather and then wonders why she made all the wrong choices the night the baby was born. Jason tells her that she wasn’t thinking clearly and trying to find help. Sam says it’s all her fault. The baby died because of her. She feels if she hadn’t put him in the planter, but held onto him, he’d be alive. Jason reminds her that the baby died from respiratory failure.

Heather introduces herself to Tea as Susan Moore. She says Todd gave her the address and that she wanted to see how things were going. She then tells Tea that the baby isn’t hers, but clarifies that by saying she’s responsible for saving his life. She is watching over him. Heather asks to hold the baby. Tea hesitates, but allows it. Heather questions the baby’s health and Tea says he’s a carrier for Thalassemia, which is genetic. However, neither she nor his father have a history of it.

Johnny asks Todd if Jerry doesn’t show, will he tell Jason or Sam the truth about her baby, so she can die in peace. Todd asks if Johnny will call Starr and tell her the truth. Johnny says he can’t change what happened, but Todd can make his right. Jax overhears as Todd accuses Johnny of lying to Carly all summer. He questions Johnny, who refuses to say anything.

Patrick’s examining Sam and Liz tells Jason that Ewen died. Patrick can’t believe his friend helped poison the town. He is worried that everyone’s fever is progressing. Jason asks if Patrick can pull the baby’s records to find out why he died and if putting him on a ventilator would have saved him.

Patrick reads that the baby died of respiratory failure because his lungs were not developed. A ventilator would have not done any good. Sam disputes this, since at the time Kelly had said they could have done that. Patrick says it ultimately wouldn’t have saved the baby. Patrick says the baby had haemophilia and would have died. Sam doesn’t understand why none of that showed up in her blood work.

Jerry shows up at the lake house and confronts Shawn. He says he’s there for Alexis. Shawn attacks him. Alexis finds Shawn knocked out and Jerry says he cares for her and she needs to cooperate if she wants Shawn to live.

Sonny tells Carly that she was right in sending Morgan away since he’s safe now. Carly admits Kate isn’t her favorite person, but she wishes him the best. Jax tells Carly that he overheard Todd and Johnny fighting and that Johnny is lying to her. Carly questions Johnny. She says there is no time for lies and he can trust her to tell her the truth. Jerry arrives with Alexis at gunpoint.

John and Dante aren’t sure where to find Jerry. Shawn shows up offering his help.

Liz reassures Jason that it wasn’t his or Sam’s fault the baby died. He looks at the chart and points out that the baby was AB negative.t Sam and Franco are O positive and wonders how that’s possible. Liz is sure that it’s just a mistake, but Jason wonders if the baby that died wasn’t Sam’s.

How cute was that baby blowing the raspberries?

I liked that Sam was finally willing to acknowledge that Jason isn't the only one responsible for the baby's death. I hate that she named her baby after Jason just to punish him. Why is Heather so fixated on the baby if he isn't Franco's? Is it just to punish Sam? Or, did she actually never change the DNA test?

I hate the Molly may have sex biz.

I like the location shoot but hate the repetitive conversations.

Yes, just like liz said it was all her fault that baby jake died. Given the fact that none of sams actions ACTUALLY led to the child dying i think her words have even less relevancy as Liz's guilt. I loved that jason pointed out that sam didnt even recognize him she was so out of it, which explains all of her actions.

I though it was normal for molly and tj to consider sex and as long as they dont act on it I am good with it.

Good to see dante on screen again.

Liked seeing johnny doing something that I thought was in character - encouraging todd to tell the truth and give sam some peace. I still dont buy johnny as a villain.

My carson loving heart liked sonny and carly reconnecting.

I thought it was jarring, as a oltl viewer, to see tea in a house that def. wasnt her house with victor even though the front door was exactly the same.

I don't understand if GH is going to spend the time mixing Llanview residences into the GH landscape why they couldn't just make TEA's home look exactly like the old place she lived with Victor or just have her in a totally new home and saying to Heather "pardon the mess we just moved into this new home".

My other problem with this whole story of the BIO-TERRORISM is this: If the town is under Marshall Law ... as the doctor said to Heather for why she couldn't get back to Port Charles ... then HOW THE HELL IS JERRY able to lurk around corners, get around town?! And why the hell is the 1% GROUP able to all just freely walk around?!

Not only would the CDC, the National Guard, and the US Government be in full force in this small town it would be checking on everyone else moving around in this small town! I understand it's a soap but the plausible explanations for everything seem idiotic. Keeping our soaps on the air DOESN"T MEAN that we have to give up sensible belief in how things happen in this type of BIO-TERRORIST attack!

Again, this should have all taken place at Wyndemere with the entire cast there being held hostage by Jerry under the exact scenario and not the entire town!

As it is, not only has Heather broken out of prison/mental hospital and traveled all the way to Pennslyvania AFTER SHOWERING AND CHANGING HER CLOTHES in the timeframe that Sam whined out her alternate life with Jason, BUT Patrick... who is not a scientist but just a doctor... is coming up with the andedote instead of calling the CDC with his initial findings for them to come up with it (and with the help of the dimwitted ... but love she's back... Maxie!), John and Dante are in charge of getting Jerry WHILE INFECTED AND GETTING WEAKER BY THE MOMENT if their sweat stains are any indication INSTEAD of introducing new characters that could eventually be the heroes.

The writing (dialogue not the stories) may be better, the pacing of the stories tighter and the action more energetic but the overall redo of GH has been a DUD. Ratings prove that because fans come back and don't stay and the ratings have been stagnant year to year. WHY? Because the storytelling has not improved and all of the stories have more holes than SWISS CHEESE.

Come on, Cartini, we know you can do it because you've improved the quality of the show BUT NOT THE STORYTELLING OF IT. Make GH a prime example of what DAYTIME CAN BE, not what it's always been... implausible, silly and less escapism than ever.

I'm sorry, I don't think it's fine that at the moment that both these kids think they may die that they would be as calm with one another or with their parents! I think if they thought they were going to die they would be on the phone with their other friends or clinging tightly to their parents or siblings.

I think Molly would be on the computer searching for a cure and NOT WONDERING WHETHER OR NOT TJ was able to find her G-SPOT.

I think its scary that Cartini is going down this road with Molly instead of showing his love for Teen moms by, let's say, creating a friend for Molly who gets pregnant (sure, let's see the teen a few times, she interacts with Alexis, and then reveals to Molly that's she's pregnant, keeping the kid and although her parents were initially mad with her they love her and all that blah blah blah) and then have Molly have a mom/daughter talk with Alexis where she reveals that she has no desire for sex at her age (as do so many girls since the numbers and stats show less and less girls having teen sex) and that Alexis raised her to know that being a woman doesn't mean having SEX to get there.

Cartini should be taking opportunities to showcase good decisions and smart decisions. Sure, Star and the other OLTL teen who gave birth in the last episode of that show made good decision to have the kids but they made bad decisions to have UNPROTECTED SEX and sex altogether at a young age. When soaps do it they glamorize it because they have to make their central characters look favorable instead of them abandoning their pregnant teens or having them have an abortion.

I was happy that Sam took some responsibility for her actions the night her baby was born. I thought it was funny...everything we said here on this site...why in the world would she set out on foot in the rain with a newborn instead of waiting?...why didn't she use a blanket?...etc..was the dialogue used in this show...MeThinks they do pay attention to these blog sites, and what is said. LOL

I really hope that what Liz says to Jason is on the lines of..."I think you should check into this first before telling Sam. You don't want her to get her hopes up and then find out you were wrong. It would be like losing her baby all over again". I can see her saying this to Jason...not to encourage him to lie to Sam...but rather protect her heart, until he knows there may be hope.

The location shoot looks good and realistic.

I also agree on Tea's house. The old Victor house was a set in NY, not there in LA...so I am sure they probably could not really duplicate it...but Tea could have said that she had just moved, because she wanted a fresh start and didn't want to live in the house her husband had been murdered in. I am very interested to see what Heather does next.

I don't understand why no one (especially Sam) questioned the blood type of the baby sooner. Sam knew it wasn't her baby, why didn't she ask for a DNA test then?

It did appear that RC was looking at the websites when it came to Sam's dialouge....and I was waiting for Sam to say "why didn't I just go to my office?"

When she first moved into the motel she said it was because it was closer to her office. I would have imagined that she would go somewhere familiar rather than follow a light into the woods. Still don't know why she didn't panic or yell or bang on doors...well...I know why...if she had made a fuss then Jason (who was in her room) would have heard her and been able to help her then.

I Just can't with this show. Jason figures out about the baby but none of the doctors had a clue. Steve,Kelly and Patrick have all looked at the chart. Shut up show and bye Jason! And Jerry taking chances to kidnap Alexis? Please. He would have went after her when it would be the least expected.

On the epidemic front, the sweatpalooza is beginning to gross me out, but did you notice how nobody really is getting weaker? They pass out or get dizzy for five seconds (Sam, Carly, Sean) but then they get all peppy again. It's getting a little goofy, can we have one main character go down for more than a minute or so?

Sam's baby's blood type twist was very dumb. It's a ridiculously written plot twist because the hospital staff would have caught that immediately (Sam wouldn't have seen the report). And speaking of Sam, why does she get a trip to radiology because she bonked her head on a desk but Jason's still sitting there with a bullet in his leg? And isn't Patrick supposed to be working on a cure, why is he playing chauffeur for Sam?

I understand they had to do this big Jerry Jax/ poison the water Port Charles storyline, with the live shots and action to hopefully draw in viewers with the GH change of time slot. I am still hoping eventually, we will soon go back to the old GH. I go on You Tube, and why are Luke and Laura still the most amazing couple ever in daytime. No one, in my opinion, has matched their chemistry. I want the romance back, the adventure, the days of the Nurse's Ball. I give Frank V. so much credit for trying to save the show, and poor Ron C., between the Liason, JaSam ,McBam fans, he must be going crazy trying to make everyone happy. But you can see, they are listening to the fans. I think the Jerry Jax storyline is a bit bizzare and over-the-top, but in a way, that's how soaps were back in the 80's. You had to over-look the unbelievability of some of the story lines. For example, The Ice Princess Storyline and Luke saves the world??? But, why was it more entertaining back then? May-be today people question more the realistic quality of everything , especially the soaps. I just want GH to survive!!!

My big problem with this storyline is how unbelievable it is, especially in this social media universe. They may be able to keep the pathogen confined to the city limits of Port Charles (in itself a bit too unbelievable to anyone who knows how water works), but there's no way in 2012 they could contain the media/social media panic that would ensue in the real world.

Never mind the national and international media that would camp outside the city limits (and trying to get in!), what about all of the people in PC tweeting to their friends and neighbors outside of town? TMZ and all of the other tabloid media would be flying overhead in helicopters, waiting for the first footage of people collapsing in the streets! The Entertainment/Showbiz/Extra/Editions would be interview pop superStarr Manning in Vegas, worried about her father back in the danger zone.

On Friday, Téa made a passing mention of the poisoning without much thought. If she thought Starr (her beloved Estrellas!) was in danger, she'd be screaming like a banshee all the way from Llanview until she is heard in PC.

ABC could have had people from GMA and GAA (which didn't even mention GH moving into its timeslot during its final show on Friday), The View, Jimmy Kimmel Live and World News Tonight doing campy crossovers (including mentions on all of those shows). If ABC really wanted to, they could have maximized the potential of this opportunity, but they either didn't think about it or didn't care.

TV Gord I agree with you about tea and even the cross promotional ideas - they should hire you for story input!! Smile

That said, I question whether some of you are watching this with too much thought. When I inevitably run in to a situation where I have to confess my love of soaps - and I usually try to keep that my dirty little secret - and I hear the commonplace GROANNNNNN about how can you watch soaps as a professional woman, I say you know, theres a lot of tv shows that you have to enjoy by paying attention like lost where you had to notice every little easter egg and consider which ones might be germane and which ones were irrelevant, but when I watch GH I can just let my mind escape and enjoy it just for what it is. I think I am liking this bioterrorism story way more than most of you because I didnt watch it thinking well how are they going to contain the water supply and where are tea and michael and why isnt tea on a plane etc. etc. I think ron c has been way better at giving us throw away lines - for example the night of the storm, the next day sam was in the hospital and she mentioned oh I went to the front desk and no one was there, thus addressing something that would have been a wtf moment - but it could still be better however Im trying not to always focus on that. I would also agree that he does seem to listen to fan reaction and sometimes we get the explanation afterward ie: jason saying sam you were SOOOO delirious that you didnt even recognize me and that delirium made you do x, y, and z. I think the show would have been better had they incorporated gords ideas but I still thought it was very interesting and I cant wait for next weeks shows (which is more than I could say for wolfes tenure and an improvement over most of what guza offered us in the latter years.)

I thought it would be more dramatic for Jerry to kidnap Alexis back in the Russians are coming storyline instead Jason & Sam bogarted the storyline and Alexis was left out of it. The momentum was there for me then now I can't understand why Jerry is so fixated on her again (even though they have history) but I'm always glad to see Alexis so I won't complain.

I dont think hes truly fixated on alexis so much that he wouldnt mind enjoying her company (everyone else seems to annoy him) and she matters enough to most of the people he would potentially be negotiating with that none of them would risk her life - shes jasons mother in law, shes the mother of sonnys daughter, shes jax's best friend, shes sams mother, shes dating sean, she dated the former police commissioner - all the people that might hunt him down might think twice because its alexis. Plus alexis isnt known for being able to fight back physically so he doesnt have to worry about her maybe figuring out some grand plan to escape which he might have had to do with someone like carly or sam.

I think jerry is SOO damaged by his father that hes pretty much incapable of REAL love (which I think may have been why they added the cards element to remind viewers that john jax USED jerry for all the dirty dealings and treated him like scum so that his golden child jasper could continue to see him like some idyllic father and not be sullied by all their double dealings.) In some ways I think thats been part of the dynamic between sam and jerry - she was used by her father in the same way and started to go down that path with all of her con marriages and what not - but then she fell in love with jason, saw what having a good life and a real love could feel like, and she fell in love with her daughter and all of that changed her. I think jerry admires and loathes sam all at the same time because she COULD have turned out just like him if she had stayed on the road she was traveling but she found something inside of her that he father had almost killed out - maybe too because she had her brother danny and unlike jax who could go off, danny depended on sam - and jerry was never able to overcome what HIS father did to him. I think reminding the viewers of what kind of man john jaxs was humanizes jerry in some ways as does what I think is an ATTEMPT to love and connect with alexis as dysfunctional as his behavior is. I also think we are going to find out at some point that theres more to his motives with the water - some way that maybe hes protecting jax or something.

GH is classic Cartini now-implausible, sensational, silly and super escapist. They always write their shows in a tabloid magazine style. They write sensational, attention grabbing headlines, but the stories have no real substance.
They rewrite and bastardize history to create sensational buzz but they dont take the time to fill the gigantic holes in their plots. Duke kidnapping Robin-ridiculous to anyone who watched GH in the late 80s!
Heather's obsession with Luke also ridiculous to anyone who knows Heather's true history. Also dont get me started on the One Life/GH hybrid proposal. This so called cross over is offensive because its played much more like a take over with far too much emphasis on the One Life characters and unfinished stories at critical times in the GH plots.
GH viewers didnt give a damn about Starr losing her kid because Jake had been killed off recently.
The basic stories on GH are about as awful as Guza's last go round-Skully J vs Sonny? Same old junk. Trey as Kate's son-boring. Kate/Sonny-lame.
Outside of the kidnap, poisoned water where is the compelling story line? There isnt one, lol.
Cartini are tabloid hacks. Of course a few location shots and some action will get a handful of more viewers to the set. But the core audience for GH is long gone. When Cartini can get GH up to a consistent 3.0 or higher like over 4 points 12 yrs ago, then I will call them a success. But that's not happening, lol.

The old GH is gone and I dont think they are listening to the fans. They keep hiring cheap newbies instead of firing the dead weight and saving that money to hire beloved vets that got canned in the guza era.
Im referring to actors like Stuart Damon ( Alan Q), Lynn Herring (Lucy Coe), John Lindstrom ( Kevin Collins).
I get that ABC has slashed GH's budget and Valentini doesnt have a blank check. But he wastes the money he does have on lame actors like Richard Steinmetz ( Skully Jr). That's stupid as hell he came from the two lowest rated soaps in decades-passions and loving. Then he hires Eric Valdez another unknown as eye candy Trey. Other than walking around half naked what does he bring to the show, nothing.
Then he reintroduces another unnecessary character Kristina. Yawn. All the money he's wasting on them could be pooled to bring back more core characters and popular actors that would get the attention of GH's core audience.
Valentini is also too infatuated with his former One Life actors-Roger Howarth and Michael Easton and Kris Alderson ( Starr) are costing a pretty penny. Talent wise they are worth it, (except for Starr) but again this is GH not One Life. Now we have Florenzia Toscano back as Tea and practicing her music scales so she can scream loud enough to be heard from Llanview to PC when she learns about the baby.

And of course Valentini will spend his last dime to get Trevor St John to come to GH to wrap up the Victor Lord debacle from OLTL. That may thrill former One Lifers, but GHer's only care about Sam's baby. ( Well Liaison and Lucky and Liz fans like me dont give a damn, lol).

Bottomline is that Valentini wastes tons of limited casting money on terrible choices. Carlavati bastardizes history and writes fantastic plots that have more holes than swiss cheese. I dont like them and I dont like their GH. For the sake of the cast and crew I hope it survives. But honestly if Disney pulls the plug next yr It wont bother me. This isnt my GH. Ill be able to move on with life.

Firstly, soaps are a means of escapism and as a viewer you need "to go along for the ride". Smile
Secondly,if you don't like the show stop watching it and stop being so critical. Puzzled

I have always watched soaps to tune out from the real world and become attached to characters and their lives. Smile

I have loved GH over the years and watched it with my mother.I am enjoying the show so much more now than a year ago and the new team are bringing suspense, adventure, thwarted love and hospital stories to keep me entertained. The new characters from OLTL are a blessing to the show as they mostly bring good acting skills and complex characters.
I don't always agree with bringing back old characters to shows, as some fans always seem to want.If old characters come back to visit for a storyline eg. Jax,that's fine.If they come back like Anna(Finola Hughes) as a main player in the drama, well that's even better. However,I feel Anna's more an exception because of her great screen presence and the story she's involved in.
I love the virus storyline and how it's impacting on the show's cast.Who cares about the implausibility of it!I'm more interested in what's going to happen with the characters, their relationships and the consequences.I don't sit there watching and over-thinking everything.I agree with "EricasEvilTwin" and I too enjoy the show "for what it is".

Amen.

That's silly. People can still like a show but be critical of a storyline. Besides, this is a message board, and message boards are where people share their opinions, some of which you'll like, some of which you won't. If we want to carry your argument to the other end of the spectrum, maybe you should stop reading message boards, if you don't like to read opinions other than those that agree with you!

See? Both equally silly ideas.

So, can we please get over the desire to tell people to stop watching just because they don't like the way the show is going? It's pointless.

I have been watching GH for 4 decades. I have loved the show or I wouldn't still watch. I have devoted a great deal of my life to GH. I have a right to be critical. I want the show to stay on the air. I want it to succeed. That doesn't mean that when a character puts her kid in a tree or a planter or turns her back to have a conversation I can't laugh or scream. I am not now or have I ever been a Lemming. Why come to a message board if not to share differing opinions. How boring if everyone agrees!

I love my soaps- however I realize they are on almost everyday for an hour. Their stories are told so different than the primetime shows on for 24 episodes a year. I may not always like the plot points that can A) Be lame or B) be changed and show something totally different a few weeks or a few years later but they are still what I will put up with to see the actors and characters I love. I think there a lot of throw away lines that can be put in to expain a lot- however I don't wright the soaps so I sigh and move on. There are alot of us that don't agree on here- yet we watch everyday. We don't just delete, we add our viewership no matter what. This is a message board and I think we have earned our right to come in and say if something annoyed us that day. For the most part the posters on here the most have never complained about the whole show- just the parts they disliked. This is also one of the most friendly sites around.. I don't see anything wrong with people coming on here to vent.. I always see a ton of good stuff too...
