NYU Professor Sues James Franco For Defamation
James Franco is about to go from Hollywood Heights to a court of law. According to the New York Post, the movie star/scholar/novelist/artist/soap opera guest/future telenovela producer is being sued by a former NYU professor for defamation of character.
José Angel Santana reportedly gave Franco a 'D' for missing his film classes while enrolled at NYU. As a result of this, Santana is claiming Franco defamed him, leading to the educator's termination. Said Santana:
Whoever was in Clint Eastwood’s chair at the Republican National Convention was more present than Mr. Franco was in my classes,” José Angel Santana told The Post, referring to the “Dirty Harry” actor’s “conversation’’ with an empty chair meant to represent President Obama
Franco is “a bully,’’ said the former full-time professor. “He uses the bully pulpit of his celebrity to punish anyone who doesn’t do his bidding.”
The once frequent General Hospital guest star denies Santana was fired from the university because the teacher gave him a bad grad:
“No teacher will ever be fired from NYU for giving a student a ‘D,’ ’’ Franco told several media outlets in April. “He wasn’t fired, he was asked not to come back after three years because they didn’t think he was a good teacher.”
Santana, who reportedly made $70,000 a year teaching at NYU, is suing Franco for unspecified monetary damages. He also filed suit against NYU. Who do you believe, Franco or Santana? Sound off in the comments!
