Wishful Storytelling: Jagger Cates Returns to Mix it Up With Liz, Sam and McBain!
Y'all know how I roll. One actor don't stop a show! While I sincerely hope Steve Burton decides to stick around Port Charles as Jason Morgan on General Hospital; should he opt to leave, I say bring back hella-sexy Antonio Sabato Jr. to fill the void!
Who better than Jason Quartermaine's boyhood rival Jagger Cates to help the women who have fought over Jason Morgan for years—Elizabeth (Rebecca Herbst) and Sam (Kelly Monaco)—nurse their broken hearts, if and when the hitman leaves town? Don't worry, McBam fans. I'm not leaving John (Michael Easton) out of my wishful equation!
When we last saw Jagger, on the critically-acclaimed, second season of General Hospital: Night Shift, he was working for the FBI. Maybe he and McBain share a stormy, Bureau work history? McBain and Cates could have been partners, who ended their association after a case gone horribly wrong.
With Jagger back in Port Chuck, he and McBain could find themselves reluctantly having to work together to solve crimes, ala Michael Ealy and Wes Mitchell's characters on the hit USA Network cop drama Common Law.
Maybe Nurse Liz Webber happens upon Jagger gunned down on the pier, sparking a connection? Liz does sorta put you in the mind of Jagger's late wife Karen (Cari Shayne), no? I'm sure Jagger's autistic son would fit right in with Liz's brood. Maybe the tyke reminds her of Jake?
What if back in her con artist days, Sam was arrested by Jagger? Better yet, maybe one of the men she bilked out of his savings was close to Agent Cates? A childhood mentor? Father figure? Jagger could want revenge and oh-so-much more from Sam — much to McBain and Liz's shared chagrin!
There's also Jagger's history with mob boss Sonny Corinthos (Maurice Benard) to consider. Remember when Sonny had a drugged up Karen picking up dollar bills with her butt cheeks at his strip club? That has to still tick a guy off..
Just a few thoughts!

I didn't see Antonio Sabato Jr. on NS and can barely remember his stsint on B&B, but if he still looks like the guy in that photo I vote to bring him on! GH desperately needs an infusion of sex appeal that the show has lacked in over a decade!

This is the chance to revitalize shows when old time actors leave ... Steve is young but has been with the show since 91 ... they should bring on a totally new face that can have an amazing back story that will be fresh for the picking with new story all the time.
I think GH and the rest need to think more about dumping cast and bringing on new ones to get new viewers interested and old ones to come back to see what all the commotion and excitement is all about.
Last time we saw Jagger he was a janitor. Nothing against janitorial work but there's not a lot of drama there because who pee'd on the seat or forgot to flush.

Hmm... wasn't his um, "acting" terrible the last time we saw him in PC on Night Shift? I think he is hot though, and cannot be worse than the 'actor' who plays Joe Jr. Maybe he has bought some acting lessons since then?
Either way, bring him on!!
Then bring back Brenda!! Whenever I think of Jagger I think of Brenda.

@pjc: Jamey just told ya, Jagger was working for the FBI, he was no longer a janitor. And he has been off the canvas for so long they could easily do all that you were talking about with his character. You don't have to bring a newbie on, just bring back a character (& actor) that the audience knows/loves, and flesh out their story (i.e. what they have been up to the past 10 years or so). At least this way there is already a history and established connection that one only has to look up on youtube to understand/believe, instead of the usual off-the-wall crap that writers try to force us to accept as they inevitably try to connect characters already on canvas to the newbie.
Sure we could have another The Balkin, but how much better is Jerry?

Miry, I agree with you on sticking to bringing back former Port Charles residents (and the actors that portrayed them) as it at least adds some relevance to the show and the long-time fans of it. I mean how nice was it to see Jax today..and looks like we'll be seeing even more of him tomorrow (ahem).

I don't understand why anyone would think newbies would increase ratings. Vets and loved returns are the way to go. Bring back viewers who left because of crappy stories. They have history with the show. I feel like that has to be easier than intriguing new viewership.

Even if Burton stays, a return of Jagger is always a good idea. One of the names from GH past that should/would not be opposed to a return visit in this twilight after having middling success outside of Daytime.

OMFG!!!!! Rena Freaking Sofer is so missed. OMG if we could have Ned and Lois back it would be amazing. Lois shares a history with Kate and Olivia. Could you imagine Lois, Olivia, and Kate all from Brooklyn hanging out having a girls night out. OMG what about getting into it with Carly. This would be freaking awesome. I still want Megan Ward back as Kate but if they brought back Rena Sofer as Lois I would not mind Kelly Sullivan continuing to portray Connie.
On another note I finally realize that the reason why they refuse to bring back Megan Ward as Kate Howard is because she was too much for them to afford. Ron is known for keeping under budget and therefore I think Kelly and that atrocious wardrobe is a better fit. Accept for the name brand bags, someone really needs to find this joke of a fashionista a legitimate stylist.
I think they should also think about bringing Karen back from the dead but the original Karen. There are many stories left to tell on GH and I hope we get to see some of the old characters and some new familiar characters like, Serena Baldwin, Sarah Webber, Brooklyn Ashton, Dillion Quartermaine, Rick Lansing, Claudia Zacchara, Lucy Cole, Alan Quartermaine, and some other folks. Bring back the Nurse's Ball too.

If burton does leave, and I hope he doesnt, they are going to need someone in that age range. I prefer they keep jax to rehiring ASJ but I wouldnt mind seeing both. I actually agree with JS on the rest - hell no to a sam/ liz triangle. Keep loser liz way away from my gal sam.

I've always liked him he may not have been the best actor but he carried it just fine for me during NS2 and I enjoyed his performance.
