Who is Blackmailing Phyllis on The Young and the Restless?
By Luke Kerr on August 20, 2012
The final month of summer is heating up and so is The Young and the Restless! This week, a bunch of Genoa City citizens will be spending some time by the Abbott pool. However, not everyone will be glistening because of the sun.
Phyllis (Michelle Stafford) pulls Kevin (Greg Rikaart) into her schemes, then wants to know who is blackmailing her. Stafford is so good at portraying a guilty, desperate Phyllis. Watch this week’s Y&R promo after the jump!

Who even CARES about this craptastic crapola storyline anymore!
In the words of Maggie Forrester Warwick, circa 1998:
"Wrap it up, would you! I have a life to lead."

We already know that - it's Tim. Just no one cares!!!!
This shit isn't worth the paper it's written on. It's another dreadful story happening in Genoa City these days. Like I said, no one cares!!!!
And I wish that Michelle Stafford would finally take a long vacation. She has only had like three episodes off in the last three months. It's ridiculous.

I disagree that "Stafford is so good at portraying a guilty, desperate Phyllis". It's just extremely exhausting having to endure her lengthening screen time portraying a guilty devious criminal who won't take the blame and thinks everyone around her should stand behind her 100%. She deserves the requisite legal punishment that she will never ever get. Maybe at least she will lose those who she purportedly loves.
TraceyAbbot101 ... good call. And non of us think we are going to be spared another visit from the Daisychain.

I agree with you. It has been exhausting. Not to mention that I just have had enough of Michelle Stafford feeling the need of saying most of her lines twice. It's has become unbearable.
Part of the problem is that she is overexposed. Phyllis has become the female lead of this show. And as that she isn't acceptable. Phyllis being the victim in a storyline where she is supposed to be the villain has become ridiculous.

You know leave it Phyllis to pull another guilt trip, now on Kevin, to help her. Thats all she does. Avery, Micheal, Daniel etc. You know I'd never thought I'd say this but it seems like they are turning some characters. The mean characters of Adam and Chelsea have been replaced by Phyllis and I never thought I'd say it, Sharon. Who would have thought that I'd kind of root for Adam over Sharon and Phyllis?

Love Phyllis, but it's time to wrap this baby up. The writing has been going down hill again after the fantastic Ricky/Paul story. Liked seeing Christine and Nina again, but the majority of the rest is boring right now. Sigh...I guess I might be looking forward to Josh.

Oy! So much for MAB's "Summer Previews" where she promised exciting and intriguing stories...Yeah, right. (Snorting in amused derision here.) As with the question that was asked about where is Victor, my answer, as before, is the same for the above. Who's blackmailing Phyllis? Who cares?...

@Everyone-- Remember when some people were worried about (the now non existent) teens who might take over the show during the summer months? So far, all I've read about is Phyllis and Victor. I don't watch so maybe I err but that's just the impression I get.
Have there been any major teen storylines this summer?

^^^The only thing I can think of is Eden not remembering the circumstances of the shooting. I think there WAS a plan to give Noah an "oh my God I'm gay" storyline, but Sony put the kabash on it.

I musat have not posted this thought or it got deleted...
But the new sponsor of Y&R will be "DEPENDS" and the product will be showcased in storylines as certain lead characters will wear them....
just wonder how Sharon is going to deal with having to change Victor's diapers or will she have moved on to Tucker by then??
And just WHERE in the world is Nikki Abbott?

Wow, I am so happy to see that others are super annoyed at Staffords annoying habit of repeating her lines. She does it constantly and it is super annoying and stupid. A long, long jail sentence would be perfect for her without the revolving visiting door.

RockiDreams ... right, another pet peeve; that easy revolving visitor door at the county jail. Just how realistic is that?
More on Phyllis. Dr. Tim gets horny and dies under her watch. She simply rolls him up in a spare carpet, dons one of her old ball caps and enlists the help of that helpless minion Kevin to extricate herself from further dodo. She's still acting like a demented Lucy Ricardo.

Couldn't believe the storyline of Phyllis and Kevin covering up Reid's death was so much like the "Weekend at Bernie's" story on General Hospital 2 months ago. Our the soap writers getting that desperate that they are copying each other now? I think GH's storyline was so much better and funnier thanks to the acting of Robin Matson, Tony Geary and Jane Elliot. Phyllis is getting a bit over-the -top now, and I'm tired of her constant screaming, "what about me?" Hopefully the ex GH producer can save the show.

Glad I'm not the only one that noticed she has to say her lines twice. I ff thru her scenes because of that along with the fact that I know nothing is going to happen to Phyllis other then more butt kissing from the other characters.
I really hope that JG and JFP backburn her when they take over and finally focus on other characters.

This Phyllis overexposure reminds me of LML's obsession with Gloria Fisher. Glo was crammed down our throats DAILY during LML's reign. And look at her now: reduced to serving food and coffee to Genoa City, LOL! I love it.

Is there any Genoa City citizen we'd like to see any more of than once a week (if that if we're lucky)?
Well Nina of course but she just seems to visit every now and then. Hopefully with the changeover we'll see less of Ronan but more of him if he ever decides to come clean with whatever big dark secret he's harboring. That would give Nina something to do. Sometimes I think Nina is a bit too much of a harpy but that's certainly not Tricia Cast's fault; she just needs more of something different to bite into with her impressive acting chops.
Anyone else?

I'd like to see more of Nina, Paul and Rafe. Rafe was a good character and then he diappeared. Also, more of Lauren.

I am sure LaStafford is already preparing to send her first muffin basket to Jill Farren Phelps in an attempt to try to change this woman's opinion that any female character over the age of 40 on a soap opera doesn't deserve airtime......
Or maybe she will spring for a Rolex???
Peter Porte should have been kept on the canvas. That Eden chick is played by a decent actress, but she's so forgettable that I can't even remember the name of the actress who plays her!!
Get rid of Cane and Lily! Put that brat Abby on the backburner!! And let SyPhyllis Newman get what she deserves FINALLY!
Stafford is a good actress, in my opinion, and that's not really debatable for me, but too much of her leaves a bitter aftertaste in my mouth. Back in the 90s, they could have shown Phyllis 10 days a week in every scene and I would have lapped it up like a kitten lapping up a milkshake, but this chick has just become a desperate show-eater!!!

The last time Victor met a "special guest star", we were stuck with Meggie. I just hope "Miss Romano" doesn't turn out to be some crazy gold digging fake nun who falls for Victor too. After Charlie from Empty Nest and Ms. Krabappel kidnapped Kevin and turned him into a bank robbing chipmunk, I've come to expect the worst whenever MAB gets her hands on one of these old TV or movie stars. Not that she's done much better with the regular cast.
As for the rest of the promo, I'm not even sure who that guy was who said he had sunscreen on his lips. I'm guessing Kyle, but they rarely show him or any of the teens enough for me to really have any interest in them.
And I could not agree more that Phyllis needs a nice long break. I've always felt that she and Michael were two characters who crossed too many lines to ever been redeemed beyond being two of G.C.'s resident villains. If JFP wants to get rid of or backburner some older characters, she should bring in a new D.A., one who isn't related to, or married to, or best friends with nearly half the town., then have some cases re-opened, maybe some new evidence comes to light, and send Phyllis, Victor, Nikki, Adam, Kevin, Lauren, Gloria, Jeffery, Sharon, Abby and possibly more, off to the slammer.

alstonboy4315 ... I agree with all of your post #28. It'd be great if her character were tuned down and then re-tuned to make her interesting (but not comically demonic) again. Give her something else to do than to make everyone's lives miserable. She could complicate them, but on a different level.
