General Hospital: Perkie's Observations
Dante dreams of JoLu making out and wakes to find Lulu out of bed. She walks in with a bouquet of roses. She thinks are from Dante, but they turn out to be from her partner Johnny. Lulu shows Dante the dress she’s wearing to the opening. He’s concerned about the cost, which Lulu isn’t.
Carly wants to be the first paying customer and gives Johnny a ten dollar bill. He says none of this would be possible without her. She tells him she made a deal with Todd to leave Johnny alone.
Todd tells Heather to stay away from the party because Blair will be there and he can’t deal with it. He opens his door to find Blair there. He is surprised, claiming the hotel is booked up. Olivia shows up with Blair’s room key and Todd asks her why Blair was allowed to stay at the hotel since he has a deal with Carly.
Spinelli tries to duck Maxie at Kelly’s. She wonders if he hates her that much. He says he doesn’t like who he becomes around her. He asks her to respect his decision to cut her out of his life. Maxie says she’s going to the Star party and doesn’t want to go alone. Spin tells her he won’t be her fall back anymore and will not be attending the party.
Emma and Patrick pay Anna a visit. They discuss Luke and Anna says she thought he was growing up and that he has a softer side. Anna asks how Patrick is doing and he tells her that Maxie is staying with them and helping with Emma. Anna tells him to ask if there’s anything she can do for him.
Heather stops by to see Luke and bring him food. He’s angry, saying he could have died of hunger. He wonders if the police are onto her. She admits she was taken in because of Anthony, but that no one is looking for Luke. Heather says Anna is easily manipulated and has been thrown off the track.
Todd calls Carly to yell at her about Blair staying at the hotel. He says he’s going to come after Johnny because of it. Johnny wants Carly to keep her distance from Todd, but she feels she needs to fix this before it gets worse.
Spinelli tells Olivia that he failed at his assignment, but she tells him that she saw a skeevy guy at Heather’s door and got his licence plate number. She wants Spinelli to check it out. Spin gets a hit on the plate and realizes that it’s the forger involved in Lisa’s murder. Olivia wonders why Heather would need a forger.
Spinelli overhears Maxie call Patrick to invite him to the party with her.
Anna gets her forged letter from Luke as Lulu receives hers. Lulu’s letter says Luke isn’t ready for the long haul and that Lulu may feel the same someday towards Dante. Anna’s letter says he didn’t kill Anthony, but took off because it wasn’t going to work out between them.
Lulu stops by to show Anna her letter. Anna’s more annoyed that Luke walked out on his daughter, but Lulu says she’s used to it. She was worried about him when she saw Heather at the Star that day. Anna asks to keep Lulu’s letter.
Dante drops by to see Johnny and to warn him not to send his wife flowers or other gifts. Johnny says he’s happy with Carly and has no interests in Lulu, but that Dante needs to smarten up. When Lulu shows up, Johnny tells her about his visit with Dante and how her husband wants her all to himself.
Blair shows up at Todd’s door to ask that they play nice for Starr’s sake. She asks to speak with Todd alone, after the party is done. She admits that Tomas is not with her. Carly shows up and the two women make small talk. After Blair leave, Carly asks Todd not to take anything out on Johnny. Todd no longer cares about Johnny. Tomas didn’t come with Blair and believes that Blair wants to get back together with him. He tells Carly that she needs to help him get Blair back or else. Carly tells him to ask nicely, so Todd says please.
Olivia runs into Dante and tells him that Heather is in cahoots with a forger. Spinelli goes to Anna and tells her the same thing and wonders why Heather would need the services of a forger.
Luke says Heather won’t be able to keep this up, that someone will catch her or find him. Heather wants them to start a life together and that Luke will love her someday. Luke yells that she can’t make him love her, but Heather says she can provide the right incentive.

So the dorky/nerdy PI and the conceirge at a hotel in a sleepy town in upstate New York are telling the police what they should know about a recently released, supposed to be under constant supervision mental patient is doing in town.
Next thing that will happen is that Emma will tell grandma all about Heather's deeds.

Blair and Carly were friendly to one another both today and on Blair's first visit to GH. I wonder how long it will last?
Luke doesn't leave letters behind, he just leaves people behind. When in the many, many years of Luke just up and leaving has he ever put a pen to paper to write down his thoughts to his loved ones? Never.
I wonder who they'll put Dante with next if him and Lulu split?

UGH ffs, ONCE AGAIN there was too much of that weirdo Spinelli again.
Writers/Producers get the hint, all the audience doesn't want him on the show anymore!

Lulu should know that her dad isn't sitting down and writing any letters. Common!!! I hope that Anna isn't written stupid here and finally makes the connection between Heather and a missing Luke.
The JoLu moment was just a dream. Oh well...
But it was nice anyway and I expected it. Johnny sending his business partner flowers might be one thing but red roses ... to her apartment? After knowing that Dante had a problem with him and Lulu working together? Someone is being a little shady here ... even though I don't mind. LOL
Blair's back in town and it drives Todd a little crazy. So fun to watch!!!! Like I said before, I love the friendship between him and Carly. I hope they keep it friends-only.
It was nice to see no Sonny, Joe Jr., Kate, Trey or NuKristina. I can do well without this messed up group. -.-

Emma is just adorable!
Flowers are an appropriate gesture for opening night but red roses? Johnny is definitely being a trouble maker!
Come on Cartini. Lulu should know her father well enough to know that the letter isn't Luke's style.
Enjoyed watching Spinelli give Maxie the cold shoulder and doing his PI work!! LOVED that he brought his Heather news straight to Anna!!!
Heather is totally insane!

I have been LOVING the absence of Jason (Morgan, not Vorhees hehe)! Sooooo nice! I would like to state how wonderful it is that Anna Devane is back in our orbit. She has been SO sorely missed! She is by far the "strongest" link in the GH cast. And...on a final note: Cartini, thank you, thank you, thank you for keeping my beloved OLTL alive on this show! When I watched Wednesday's scenes with only Todd and Blair in the room it hit me again how grateful I am that, in effect, OLTL is still alive!

Forget about whether Luke would write a letter or not, do people in general write letters nowadays. (My 74 year old mother just sent me one yesterday but she doesn't have internet!!)
Wouldn't Luke have just tweeted "see ya biatches" on his twitter account before taking off?!!!!

And Todd is on for the 12th day in a row... Anybody wants to bet that RH will be the Number 1 of episode counts for the second month in a row? Can't stand that airhog anymore...
But I am still going to thank Cartini... Because seeing JoLu making out was just like a dream come true. Too bad that it was just too short... and a dream!
Dante is such a douche, he would like Lulu to remain a fileclerk at the PCPD instead of seeing her happy of doing something that motivates her. He just wants to control her as usual. LOVED JOHNNY SENDING FLOWERS TO LULU!!!! And Dante was pathetic going to Johnny. Having never lost one opportunity to blame Johnny of everything on earth (even accusing him of trying to kill Kristina because of the Lopez brothers murder when it was his own daddy who was behind all that), why would Johnny agree to do what Dante is ordering him to do? He risked his life protecting Dante's cover only to see Dante embrassing his daddy's witchunt against everything Zaccharah! Karma is a b*tch so Go to hell Dumbte! And good riddance! I am a Lulu fan first but seeing JoLu back together reminded me why I liked them so much at the time and why I hate what Lulu has become since she has been paired with Dante Corinthos. I seeing glimpses of my beloved Lulu lately because she has been allowed to have scenes without Dante!

Spinelli has finally grew a pair where Maxie is concerned... He seems to be getting his Cyber skills back, yet not as nerdy as before! I see the writers maturing him alot and I'm glad he's there.
Todd has never been such a PUNK!!! I would've rathered to see the otherTodd (Victor) because this guy on GH is not repping right!
How long will this Joe Jr/Kate/Trey/Sonny s/l last..... boooooring!!! I know the after affect will be alot more intriguing than the build up because I could do w/o... Now they give Kate a BIG s/l, wish they could've done this with the oldKate.
I need my Sonny & Jason fix... the only reason I like this show, hence my name Mobb Ish...

Apparently my local ABC affiliate thought that thunderstorms were more important than GH, so when I went to watch my dvr recording of GH, it was all weather maps. Oddly, I didn't really get upset. That's sad.

I thought it was an unwritten rule around here that we dont actor bash - and i recall a great many conversations that centered around the idea that bashing the performance or the wardrobe or the hair and make up wash germane to critiquing the show but that aspects the actors physical appearance that were not alterable (ie someones nose, the size of their breasts, their height, etc) would not be tolerated. I think we made an exception for those times where they have plastic surgery that impedes the work.
most of us abide by that. Is there some - this applies to everyone but .... rule? Are there others on this list of attackable individuals?

co-sign I just don't think 'any' character needs to be on every damn day. Most of the time saying the same thing...I just don't recall Todd Manning being like this basically he's Heather's byeoch. Some of his fans say they like him being written different... it some don't.
OLTL crossovers gets plenty of story (& Heather)...while my poor Elizabeth is suffocating with a plastic bag over her head on the bench....a lot of airtime is used in repetitive dialog...IMO there are a lot of characters on the canvas. Since these actors are coming from the east coast they seem to rotate e.g. Blair returns while John McBain is gone however he'll come back; Starr will return hog air......I still think more OLTL crossovers are coming seems to be Carlintini primary investment to keep them in front & center.

Correct me if I'm wrong, but the last writing team didn't want to write for Elizabeth, either, right? I mean, didn't they actually write her OFF and there was a fan outcry that kept her on the show. So, she's still on the show, but they STILL don't want to write about her. None of that has a thing to do with the more recent OLTL arrivals. There are going to be backburnered characters on every soap, and it doesn't matter who's on the frontburner. If the writers don't want to write for certain characters, they just won't. It's not the fault of the ones who are on the frontburner.

IMO it was backstage drama with Frons who wanted RH gone because of the JaSam vs Liason fan wars.
Also, GW was pairing Liz with Matt and then Jason Cook was let go. Liz was being paired with Nathin Butler (Ewen) and he's now recurring. I hope RC is waiting around for JJ to come back to GH.

TV Gord, thanks for sharing your opinion of my comments and my maturity. I appreciate your candor, but I won't share my opinions of your contributions, as I am too mature to be witheringly critical of a fellow poster on a daytime television board.

It's a message board. It's all about opinions. Feel free. Why should I be treated any better than the disgraceful way you treated the actor who plays Spinelli?
23 June 2010

TV Gord, you need to read the definition of the word "disgraceful" and ponder that meaning vis a vis the world we live in. My calling a potatoface a potatoface is not "disgraceful." And the difference between you and Hungry Jack Spinelli is that you're not a desperately bad element on a TV show I enjoy, and therefore not really someone I care to criticize (except obliquely, as I did both in this post and my first note to you--but that's just a bit of fun).
God bless,
bb

When Cartini came on board they promised to do things differently and get the show back to where it used to be (it was either their promise or the hype around them), so saying that Guza or GW didn't write for Liz either doesn't matter much. I was looking for something different from the new regime that included the characters that weren't written for in the past. I was not looking for the same old same.

Hmmmm- on the FB page for GH they took out Dante and put in McBain.. It has always been a source of annoyment to me when people want to blame Kelly for Becky not being on. I really don't think it has to do with Kelly IMHO. However this week has been no Kelly and Becky.. So it's not like if there is no Sam you will see a ton of Becky. Lucky I have been at the beach all week so I haven't missed my girl. I would love to know where the show is headed though. Is he just taking core people from GH and splitting them with core OLTL peeps?? I would love to just see a little of everything- little mob with Jason and Johnny, police action with (Lucky please) and Dante, PI action with Sam and Lulu, cool spy stuff with Anna and , Piz at the hospital and of course some Q fighting.. Maybe bring back Dillion to try and fight Michael for the company.. Of course that is my perfect world not everybody else's. As far back as I can remember I have never been into every story going on. If they showcased 4 a day it was usually just two I tuned in for. However I didn't mind sticking around for the others just to see the ones I was interested in.. I guess we will see where this is going...

I would caution that just because Frank Valentini & Ron Carlivati might have said that they would do things "differently" does not mean that they would do things exactly the way some fans would like, wish or otherwise hope would happen. One extreme example is that one poster here has continually remarked in various threads that Valentini/Carlivati "promised" that "the mob" would be phased out of Port Charles. I have never seen or read these specific phantom promises, but GH — while still full of mob characters — isn't nearly as much about mob ACTIVITY anymore (turf wars, blowing up ships & warehouses in the harbor, stealing coffee beans from Starbucks shipments)...and this is at least loosely keeping in the spirit of what the poster has been...saying...for months. Yes, there are characters who are in or tied to the mob....and there are many stories that Carlivati has retread from his time at OLTL (what new head writer has not borrowed elements of their own themes or stories from previous or recent gigs??), but GH as a whole is not nearly "mob-storyline centered" anymore — something "the fans" have been clamoring for a long time.
To that end, traditional soap operas operate on an A/B/C story structure (B&B seems stuck at an A-story structure from what I hear). GH is, for better or worse, no different. The Unholy Reign of Heather Webber/The Great Port Charles-Llanview Baby Switch of 2012 is, in one way or another, roping in a lot of different characters to varying degrees within the A-story. What's new or to be criticized about an A-story's characters being front & center in an A-story? Here's a hint: where does one think the term "front burner" comes from?
And, while I am only slightly sympathetic to the new soap-meme about "airhogs," if memory serves GH had THREE "airhogs" — Sonny, Jason and Carly — for the better part of TEN YEARS. Most recently, the flood of complaints were about Dante's "airhog" exposure. That several characters under Carlivati, new or transplanted, have had a lot of screen time in the last few months or weeks while THOSE characters have been reduced in airtime (after LITERALLY YEARS of complaints by fans to do just that) doesn't seem to be all that big a deal.
Also, it would do us well to consider that Valentini (and therefore Carlivati) have multiple agendas and masters to juggle: what the network wants — and doesn't want, the limitations of ever-tightening budgets, actor contracts & availability and so on. Sometimes actors are scheduled for vacation; sometimes planned storylines get altered because of unexpected circumstances (rumors/reports of the devastating affects of the recent death of John Ingle's wife on Mr. Ingle reportedly caused major rewrites or delays of new Quartermaine intrigue is just one example). Just because "fan favorite" characters aren't featured the way some of us want them to be doesn't always mean it is the direct fault or control of the producer and writers.
Finally, in the case of Elizabeth and her portrayer Rebecca Herbst, fan outcry might have kept the beloved Ms. Herbst in a job, but the character of Elizabeth has nearly as many detractors & haters as there are supporters. So the character is not exactly universally revered — or wanted. Personally, I would certainly love to see Elizabeth (a character that was once DESPISED by fans until she was raped and Lucky "saved" her and she reformed her young, chain smoking bitchy ways) in some juicy story, too. I give credit to Valentini/Carlivati for at least TRYING to find something for Elizabeth, even if it's a bit all over the map, whether it is the on/off dating with Dr. Ewen or stoking the "Jason/Elizabeth" fires — something else fans of THAT couple have been screaming for for years, as well. The fact that Herbst still has employment in a faltering industry on a show that is skating on thin ice where she was thisclose to being put out to pasture is — still — great news, in my opinion.
