Meh...
Thank Heavens "Y & R" didn't win where it counts - Best Drama Series and Best Writing!!
One minor acting award, Maria - don't let it go to your pointed, right-wing head!!
NOW...
Perhaps CBS/SONY will acknowledge that there is some tarnish (some???) on it's crown jewel of a soap opera - may I suggest a change in Executive Producer/Head Writer???
Something's gotta give!!!

Bart, I agree. Y&R got 3 Creative Craft Emmy's and the 1 acting Emmy. This was by far Y&R's poorest showings at a Daytime Emmy Awards. This clearly is an indictment on Maria Arena Bell's leadership and her awful writing of this show. It's time for change at the top. I just hope that CBS Daytime Exec and Sony Pictures Execs were watching and are now questioning why they've let Maria stay on as long as she has.

This may sound nasty but I'm glad that Y&R didn't win much. Maybe they will wake up to the true state of this show. They've been clinging to a numbers game but their story content has been nothing short of abysmal for years now. Perhaps this is the shock that they need, if anyone over there even still cares.

This is so utterly ridiculous. The girl DOESN'T KNOW HOW TO ACT!
I too am glad YR didn't win any of the big awards. They didn't/don't deserve it. MAB needs to go. YESTERDAY.

I think I can hear Alstonboy gnashing his teeth right about now. It was kind of sad to hear her praise her storyline when really, as much as I want to be happy for her, there was very little of it that was compelling. I really don't like saying that but it's the reality of what Y&R is at this time, woefully trashed, it's glorious history cheapened or ignored...

Swan, the sad thing is Alstonboy doesn't have cable, so he would have to rely on others to let him know who won what. But yes, I would think he would be gnashing his teeth.
As for others' comments about Y&R not winning much this year, I agree. I was hoping that they go 0 for however many Emmy nominations they got. Had that happened, that would have been a HUGE, HUGE indictment on Maria Arena Bell, her leadership of Y&R and her atrocious writing of the show.

This was the Category of the Night and I am so glad Christel won--she deserved the Nod and the Win, unlike some of the MAB Fav's Y&R tried to sneak by the Awards! ONLY win for Y&R of the night--shut out and you know why? As Giddens and millions of others have been saying for an entire year--this Regime sucks, from the Writing, to the Production and especially that Casting Director, another ABC reject! CBS/Sony, it is past time for you to clean house and rid this Show of MAB/HS/SH, all the ABC rejects, nepotism and horrific management!

I'm glad Christel won and I felt that she deserved the win. Did the storyline suck? Um. Yeah - But she didn't write it so I can't hold the storyline against her. She did the very best that she could do with the ridiculous stuff that she was given and knocked it out of the park. As for the rest of YR - Count me in on the 'I'm glad they didn't win much' train. Overall, the state of YR has been abysmal - although there are occasional bright spots here and there.

I demand a re-count, and as a long time Y&R viewer, I'm sorry I think somebody else should of won. To me Christel storylines are always boring, and her acting range is so small.
I'm glad Y&R didn't win either, and they usually (under Bill Bell) would have more nominations than anybody, and I don't watch GH like that, but was happy they took home some gold...
I wish there would be a change of the guard @ Y&R, but unless MAB is there I'm not going to hope for too much, because she doesn't listen plain and simple. I'm not going to let it worry me...

I'm hating! Yep, card carrying! This just shows that the Emmy's have lowered their standards on acting in these younger categories. Why not give it to Yvonne Zima! I'm sure the LAME fans are happy.

It's a stupid category anyway. Either you are or you are not a supporting character at that age. Christel Khalil is getting close to 25 years old and is a divorcee ... hardly an ingenue (but probably always a starlet). I can't remember anything that warranted a call up to the Emmy Winner podium, but then I don't worship at her altar either.
The most annoying thing for me "watching" that Emmy broadcast? What was that god awful background music that was being incessantly played?

What exactly is the cut off age for the younger actress/actor category? For the odd times where I do tune into Y&R when my mom is home to watch it, she doesn't seem that good of an actress, but that's just me, she seems to have a huge fan base, don't know why lol

Weird, Younger Actress? She's been around for years. I guess her fretting over Cane could be called a story-line, but, oh well.
Should have given it to Marcy Rylan. She has been asked to pull off pretty schitzo scenes as Abby. Smart businesswoman millionaress one minute, publicity stunt girl the next. Running over her step-father one day, getting accused of Diane's murder the next.

Congrats to CK not only did you get your Emmy but you were also the best dressed. The scenes you submitted made it no contest and the little black dress, classic.

I too, want to congratulate Christel Khalil for her Emmy win. She, SO deserved it. For me, Christel’s organic effervescent delivery, defines my interpretation of the classic soap heroin. The clip of her portrayal of the put-upon victim of her husband’s tragic legacy, with such elegance and class, reminded me of the beloved protagonists of soap days gone by. It was refreshing to see what has been sorely missing in Y&R’s version of this genre for so long that I can barely watch the all-consuming, (should be peripheral), tripe.
Christel’s interpretation of this character reminds me why I fell in love with soap heroines at my grandmother’s knee (DG’s contribution to Lane’s chemistry also belongs in this league, but this is CK’s moment, so I’ll stick to my pride that she has been recognized for her BEAUTIFUL portrayal of this character).
Christel’s portrayal of Lily is lovely, and I am so happy that her contribution has FINALLY been recognized. Y&R has produced such an unappealing evolution of neurotic, screeching, bitter, insecure (masquerading as strong), malicious, mean spirited, over-the-top harpies, that it is such a refreshing change to see a self-possessed, tranquilly strong - despite outside influences, genuinely altruistic character get recognition, regardless of the schizophrenic writing for all of the once-beloved (or tolerated) characters on canvas.
But for CK, like many of you, I wanted Y&R to bomb, because they have proven their determination to ram THEIR idea of what viewers WILL HAVE TO APPRECIATE down our throat, whether we want it or not. I’m not an evil person, but, heck, Y&R storylines have an unappetizing pucker effect, which is why I applaud CK (& DG) for managing to not only make lemonade out of the lemons they’re sporadically given, but to add those delicious shortbread cookies to the mix.
I am so happy for you, Christel, and I wish you nothing but well, and hope your career soar with this token of recognition.
CK, xoxo - you ROCK!

I just don't get this category but as for acting she's not very good IMO; I'm sure she can submit some kind of material for an emmy...with only a few soaps left its slim pickings as for competition, so I'm not surprised that she won .. not hating but I just consider her a piss poor actress. But congrats to her all the same.
