I know alot of long time viewers are upset but in this dying soap era and economy how can he really expect a huge raise? His character bores me to tears anyway. I won't miss him at all. Cya!

Peter Reckell's leaving is better than a recast,i liked Bo with Carly anyway,they had a better conection. Lets Hope Days gives Kristian Alfonso(Hope)a great storyline in her quest to find another partner. I think they should have her conect with someone in her work place whom they partner her up with. Good luck to Peter and please give Kristian a great storyline.

^^ As soaps are dying and the economy is poor, why does DAYS employ such a bloated cast? A logical solution would be to cut the characters no one cares about or have invested in versus one of the stars that put the show on the map. Loyal, longtime fans who still watch and support DAYS, watch and support BECAUSE of Bo Brady/Peter Reckell.

Kim Zimmer wrote in her autobiography that the brass at Proctor & Gamble used scare tactics in contract negotiations with her, telling her that if she did not accept another pay-cut, 10 cast members would lose their jobs. She refused to take the cut and no one was fired. Had she given in, she would have been payed less for no other reason than production company's keeping their money! Everybody's playing hardball at the expense of the viewers' entertainment. But I do not blame Peter Reckell for not taking a pay-cut when it's due to mismanagement by DAYS'/Sony.

I liken it to professional athletes. People complain about their salaries but no one ever discusses the exorbitant salaries of team owners who are not placing their health at risk, game after game, year after year! Athletes, like actors, are who we watch for!

For the record I’ve been in love w/ PR since he started on Days….and I was 10! I think he’s been under-used for the last 5 yrs or more. That having been said, I think I’m one of the few die-hard fans who loved RKK. He had great chemistry w/ Lisa R (maybe even better than PR). I think RKK should be playing a villain somewhere….his short turn as Stavros Cassadine was phenomenal! KA is no Meryl Streep but she does well with what they give her. Well except for that Princess Gina crap; that whole storyline is stupid & her accent ranks up there w/ Philip Casnoff’s Southern accent in North and South. If the genius writers can’t find a way to use her then, depending on how PR leaves, she can leave to spend time w/ Shawn D, Belle & Claire.

This next couple of comments may piss some folks off but so be it; if the show keeps going the way it's going it's gonna get cancelled which is, IMO, what NBC wants. I’m a 3rd gen fan and as much as it pains me to say this, I don’t think I’ll care. They might as well change the name from Days of OUR Lives to Days of SAMI'S Life

Brandibelle-You are probably correct in thinking Days will be gone next year.I don't think NBC is invested in soaps anymore just like ABC. ABC just makes more of a show to try to placate fans,while behind the scenes making plans to replace Gh.

I'm not letting myself get overly invested in a show again,daytime or nighttime,because of the pain I felt when OLTL was dumped.I'm enjoying the parts of Days I like,FF thru the other parts.Same with Y&R and B&B.

I would miss the soaps if they go.Don't and won't watch talk or reality shows.So that would leave me sports,msnbc,and my music.Oh,and clips of my old shows on youtube.I guess I could live with that.

And if comments piss people off,that's their problem not yours.It is how you feel.I know sometimes I don't feel like I'm making my perspective clear and that I won't post again,but I do anyway.I'm not as glib as some of our posters,but I do like reading them and responding from time to time.Just don't like some of the nastiness.

Sorry that Peter's leaving, he might be better off. I would bring RKK back, I remember he was pretty popular, I know the die hards will not accept that, but if it's for the better of the show recast Bo.

If Sony/Corday put on a better show, Actors wouldn't have to worry about taking pay cuts.

Know what I get tired of? Supporting a genre where the four remaining soaps are just awful...which really, doesn't cover how bad these shows are anymore. The same people keep writing the same awful stories and we're expected to eat it up. If the networks want out of soaps, at least be as honest as P&G and just pull the plug already.

It's too bad that he is leaving and not taking Kristian Alfonso (Hope) with him. Her British accent and his Russian accent had to be some of the worst in the business. considering they have been on DOOL for so many years. It is about time that they learned to act. Also, Drake Hogestyn should go. He can't act out of a paper bag.

NOOOOOOOOOOOOO! I can't believe Days couldn't come to some agreement with the actor. This is one actor that got better with age. His scenes when he remembers Zac bring me to tears. I think he is doing great work there.

They just got Bope back together for the reboot, now they have to kill another character? They are killing Lexie off already. What the heck are they going to do with Hope? Days always pairs people up or they have nothing to do.

The only good thing is he's leaving by his own decision and not being fired like the other supercouple a few years ago.

I'm not sad to see Peter go. I just started watching this show more recently and, as a new viewer, I have to say I found Bo and Hope extremely boring and FF'd most of their scenes.

Good luck to Peter though. At his age, and after playing the same role for so many years, it will be tough for him to find other things to do. These daytime actors are paid pretty well, even with the pay cuts, and it’s steady work. As someone who was laid off a few years ago, personally I’d stick with a sure thing and not walk away. But that’s just me…

I don't know if Kristen would come alive with another actor or not, but I would hope TPTB would get her off the police force and have her do something interesting for a change. Right now, far as I'm concerned, she could leave with Bo.

On another note...There really are no couples on this show that are "good" couples. The only two characters I see any chemistry with are Sami and EJ, and they are a non-couple.

Days has gone back to being the EJ DiMera show again. Blah. How can you develop new characters when one gets so much airtime and is in every story.

I'll miss PR. Bo is probably the last truly relatable male character on daytime and is a decent actor. Of course he doesn't endlessly cry or whine or scream so he's boring(rolls eyes). I will say super couples again have killed Days and while most soaps have moved away from this dated concept, it's only dragged Days down the last 10 years. I liked every pairing Bo was part of Bo and Hope bign my least favorite. I'll miss him and wish him best of luck.

Am I only one that thinks it's kind of douchey the way his wife is Tweeting about it? It comes off more as bitterness vailed as shock.

Aside from the fact that she's married to him, it really has nothing to do with her. BTW, I had no idea his wife was a pop "star". I never heard of her before this post.

I love PR, but I loved RKK as well. I actually met RKK at a fan event when I was in college. He was an absolute sweetheart! He was very funny, warm, kind, and even more gorgeous in person. I was in an auction battle for some signed something or other and lost. He felt bad for me (the poor college student) and came over to hug me and pose for pics with me and my group. He then found me later and gave me an autographed pic and t-shirt. I will never forget him or his kindness.

OMG my prayers have been answered! I like PR but I don't like Bo/Hope. I thought they hated each other anyway. And yes, I think Hope should leave also. Can't stand her and I don't care what anyone thinks, 'higher powers' or not. The story with Will is the only thing worth watching on the Days of Sami Brady. Once that's over I'll stop watching once again.

I have been watching DOL forever. This is very disappointing. I don't think management knows how this is going to affect Days. It is the writers that aren't giving them interesting storylines and as far as new people taking his place, really:? that isn't possible. Bo and Hope are great together and it is going to be sad to see him leave. Give him his salary back and an interesting story line. It's not his fault the writers aren't creative. If he leaves so will I. I would rather them end the show.
