Kardashian Family to Appear on Oprah's Next Chapter

The Kardashian publicity machine continues to extend their 15 minutes of fame. "America's favorite Reality TV family," as they are being called, will sit down with The Mighty O on June 17 for Oprah's Next Chapter.
The Kardashian-Jenners will discuss everything from their hit E! series, to their business ventures and personal scandals with Oprah. Oprah's Next Chapter with the Kardashians will air Sunday at 8 PM EST on OWN, followed by Part Two of Winfrey's interview with rapper 50 Cent.

I think that since "Keeping Up with the Kardashians" has been on the air since 2007(!?!), they have more than surpassed their 15 minutes of fame. Why, I don't know, but they are obviously popular with someone out there...maybe the same people that can't stop watching a train wreck.

It's very disappointing that Oprah is giving these fame-whores another venue for them to bask in the attention they can't seem to live without.

OWN is a sinking ship. I predict it'll be gone by the end of 2013.

Thanks, Oprah...

I was JUST thinking that I needed more of the Kardashians in my life.........

NOT!!

Doesn't matter to me anyway since I don't have cable and don't watch her network anyway. She seems to be pandering to the lowest common denominator. I expected more from her. Guess she's gotten desperate.

Why is she doing this? I mean why are these Kardashians famous? Because of their father? I mean how did all this get started? When will it end?

Cyberologist, here is the short version of the Kardashians' climp to the top of the trash heap: The mother, Kris Jenner, has had show business aspirations since at least the eighties. There is a truly atrocious Youtube video of her attempting to do something she calls "singing".

The family exploited its association with alleged double murderer OJ Simpson and his deceased wife to get media exposure and make a name for themselves in Hollywood. Kim Kardashian brought them more notoriety with her infamous sextape. Ryan Seacrest took note and gave them a show. The rest (Kim's bogus short-term marriage and her and her sisters' endless "romantic" involvements with rappers and athletes) is recent history.

The only explanation for Oprah's interest in these people is, as alstonboy said above, she has decided to cater to the lowest common denominator. Her desperation is showing.

I have been saying until I was practically blue in the face that Oprah should have just cut a deal with Google, Yahoo or some other online entity to broadcast her fledgling network on the Internet. Sure, it would have been a risky proposition but it cannot have been worse than this! If she had taken a risk, even if she initially experienced some failure, she could have at least been part of the trailblazing set, and being that it is online, the risk, reward and expectations would've been more modest, imo. Yes, it's Oprah, so the expectations are always greater than for others but venturing in uncharted territory could have bought more time to build with less criticism.

And most importantly, Oprah might have been in more control of programming choices. Sure her audience might have been smaller but it would not have mattered as I think with a stronger core of programming, a dedicated (even if smaller) following, she could have cultivated a loyal band of sponsors in keeping with the 'Live Your Best Life' theme that she was always fond of promoting. As it stands, there is not much about Kim Kardashian that speaks to me about 'Living Your Best Life'...but maybe that's just me.
