The Salem Police Department Hunts Stefano’s Killer on Days of Our Lives!
By Luke Kerr on June 04, 2012
Stefano DiMera’s (Joseph Mascolo) reign over Salem has ended, but who killed him? The list of suspected killers continues to grow. Watching this week’s Days of Our Lives promo I can’t help but wonder if the killer was someone not on the current suspect list the SPD is compiling? Watch the promo after the jump!

My main suspects:
Susan Banks (Just in time for Eileen Davidson return)
Kim Brady (One of her alters resurfaces and off Steffy)
Hope as Gina (Stefano's trance worked too well)

My main suspect is Ian now that the IB is leaving. He probably has some connection to the Dimeras that again happened off camera.I don't buy that he has completely forgiven Kate for leaving him,and that he will be setting her or her loved ones up.He also is still after Brady and Madison.

The Glamorshot of Will is a hoot. This entire story is pretty bad, though, given that it's out that they're already writing for Stefano.

I'll call it right now: Stefano ain't dead.
You can thank me later about a year or so down the road.
One of the rules of soaps: UNLESS you see a body in a grave, they're not dead. And even if they are, you probably only got their lookalike relative.

Stefano ain't dead worth a damn........
I guess this storyline makes sense if you are 13 years old and haven't been watching this show since the 80s. Otherwise, you'd know that Stefano has "died" about 12,000 times and always seems to come back. There's a REASON they call him "THE PHOENIX", is there not??

No way in hell do I believe that Stefano Dimera is actually dead. I missed a bit of the show last week, but just watched the first scene today and enjoyed the direction of the scene, with the voiceovers and the music. Nicely done, Days

In perfect Mafia movie fashion they had Stefano listening to Opera music when the shot rang out.

James Reynolds did some fairly decent acting in the confrontation scenes with Stefano, I have to admit. He's never as bad as Drake Hogestyn and Josh Taylor but sometimes he can be a little wooden in his delivery.

@everyone: I just know that Lexie did the deed as her last act to save her family and friends from Stefano. Or else Stefano had himself shot so it would look like he was dead, only to linger around town much like Roger Thrope did on GH after his "dead."

Oh that's right, Roger Thorpe did do that on Guiding Light. Yeah, sounds like Stefano might do the same thing!

Oh please. The Salem Police Department couldn't even hunt down the body. Which, coincidentally, they won't. Heehee.

Stefano aint dead, but I do think it was Ian who fire the shot with Will gun.

My first guess was Lexie as well. The actress is leaving so why not make her the guilty party so they don't have to let anyone go. Either him or Ian. But as everyone else has said, he'll probably pop up alive on the last episode before the 3 week break for the Olympics. They need something "big" to reel people back in.

I really hope the story improves from what I saw today.Storyline holes and over acting everywhere.Only good scene was when EJ grabbed Will.Lord,I was waiting for a kiss.Hope this story puts them back together.

yeah i don't see Stefano dead either. i too think it's one of the characters leaving the show already that maybe shot him or made it look like he shot him to help him disappear for awhile to maybe go through with his arms deal he had going when he was "working" for the CIA. it's not been explained why he was working for them so it was probably them that got him out of Salem for awhile.

LOL. And not just any opera music, either. Something tells me that Joe Mascola played a part in picking this aria, 'Vesti la Giubba' which means, 'Put on your costume', from the great Leoncavallo's opera, i Pagliacci. It was perfect! As the gunshot rang out, the music poured out:
"Laugh, clown!
Laugh, at your broken heart and love, and at the grief that poisons your heart."
So fitting for Stefano. I thoroughly enjoyed it!

this story would have been gold if it were done 15 years ago..

Yeah Stefano isn't dead. He is a Phoenix! Lol
Anyway I think Lexie shot him.
The hand in the glove was small and girly. She wasn't asleep like she said she would be. She overheard Stefano saying it was his fault she's dying. So she probably shot him because Shes going to die anyways she won't go to prison. It'd be perfect.

Stefano is not dead. Please! But I think Melanie shot him, if indeed anyone did. This might be a CIA thing. She is leaving the show soon. Not sure of the motive unless it is just to keep her man from going down that same road his dad is on.

I think we all know Stefano is not dead. The question is who "shot" him.I really hope the writers already have an ending, and know who did it.You know, not just making it up on the fly, like it seems they have already done with so many plot lines happening off screen.
And the Salem PD,worse then LLanview and Port Charles combined.Do they even have a ballistic report on the bullet and gun.Next of kin not notified right away.Bringing 2 main suspects to the crime scene.Oh,that's right I'm trying to apply logic to a soap.Bad for my mental health.
Please don't drag this out.

Another thing that made me giggle is all those grumpy photos they had of the cast on the suspect board. Where did they get those photos? In one context would any of those photos be taken? If they were indeed candid photos--why were they are grimacing? LOL.

Soaps have all the elements in place to do good whodunnit murder mysteries. Sadly, I haven't seen a decent one in about twenty years.
This one on Days is extremely poorly written, and it's only just starting. Heaven help us!
I think it would have been far more interesting for Stefano to die (for real) either from natural causes or at the hands of a clearly identified killer. Then the resulting storyline would have been about his heirs (EJ, Kate, Chad, Kristen Blake, etc.) going to war against each other over the inheritance in a story that involved forged wills, murder attempts, and even some comedic mishaps.

Yeah, and Roman is testing everyone for gunshot residue DAYS after the shooting. Apparently no one bathes or washes their hands on Days.
Anyone else tired of the mute cop shadowing Roman?
