thanks for this post Jillian!
since it's a 24hour cable news channel, does that mean the show could be longer than usual? i hope so.
when can we expect the list of presenters to be released?

I stopped subscribing to cable years ago, so unless they stream the broadcast online, I will have to read the results.
I'm not too upset however as I'm irritated that the Lifetime Achievement Award will go to the Television producer of the View, an unscripted program, rather than a deserving actor/actress of a Daytime Drama (some of whom have been in the business forty or fifty plus years, like Kathryn Hayes) a few of whom have never received an accolade. Oh well, I guess the Academy must court the View now since Daytime TV is clearly veering away from Soaps.

The Daytime Emmys have never been exclusively about soaps, so it's petty to begrudge Bill Geddie his Lifetime Achievement Award. He earned it as much as anyone.

Sweet Jesus, I need to put on my lenses! I thought the headline was HSN would air them....as in HOME SHOPPING NETWORK! I was like "How in the hell is this happening?!?"
LOOOONG WEEK!
But if anyone saw Nancy Grace the day and days that followed Casey Anthonys (UGH) Aquittal, HSN needs to get her on air after the awards. Imagine her spewing the outrage over who was robbed; who won, etc.

I'm just happy (and slightly proud) that the Daytime Emmys will be aired even if its on a small cable network and they will be at the BH hotel so it will be a nice intimate affair.
and a part of me wants to see how they will do it, the last few years they have basically been a commercial for Vegas so it will be interesting to see a small network put them on with hopefully the awards being the focus and not other things THAT we have been told are necessary to get them on the air.

@goyankees: Nancy Grace should host the Daytime Emmy's. She could then talk about every show and actor nominated based on their character's dirty deeds. Just like she does missing blonde girls.

I don't begrudge Bill Geddie anything, I just remain uninterested. If you don't think there's a political underpinning to it all, then you must be blissfully unaware of how the industry truly works. Good for you!

I don't begrudge Bill either but I'd rather see someone in the soap industry receive the award.

yes I think Claire Llabine, Douglas Marland, Gloria Monty deserve it before Bill Gedde, plus Gedde has only done one program in Dayime, The View. How is that lifetime achievement for 15 years. Sorry his getting this is so political. Wonder if Barbara bought it for him?

Actually, Douglas Marland did get the Lifetime Achievement Award in 1993. It was months after he passed away and his mother and siblings accepted it.
I remember Don Hastings presenting it and choking up at the every end.
Gave me chills then. Gives me chills now almost 20 years later.
