Drake Hogestyn, Stephen Nichols and Jeanne Cooper Ham it up in Ellen’s Soap My Fair & Square Lady

Ellen premiered a new soap-within-a-talk show, My Fair & Square Lady, this week. In its debut episode, Days of our Lives star Drake Hogestyn turns out to be the groom at Ellen’s mysterious wedding.

Later in the spoof series, which is part of Ellen's JC Penney campaign, The Young and the Restless’ Stephen Nichols and Jeanne Cooper show up. Nichols starts out wearing an eye patch, until Cooper arrives and reminds him he hasn’t been on that soap for years. A classic slap fest erupts and it is revealed Cooper enjoys Fifty Shades of Grey, just in time for an epic cliffhanger revelation.

In case you missed Ellen's previous soap, As the Tide Turns, we've included it for your viewing pleasure too. Check out  Ellen's My Fair & Square Lady after the jump!

DUMB. Seriously dumb. No wonder JCpenney is loosing customers as fast as soaps are losing fans.

Dumb? Yes. Hammy? You bet.

But JCP is NOT loosing customers and I doubt that these stupid skits would cause any fan to NOT watch their show.

JCPenney is coming off a worse-than-expected quarter, but I doubt this skit has anything to do with it. Kohl's is kicking everyone's ass -- and they advertise on the soaps.

That said, this skit was like something they used to do on The Carol Burnett Show -- except that this was pretty lame and unfunny.

Carol Burnett played her spoofs straight, as if she was really doing theater. They occasionally burst into laughter, but it was more theatrical and in the spirit of homage than just making soaps look silly. I love Ellen, but seriously, the skits are sponsored, so they should be better.

Oh wow, this was amazing! Esp. the finale with JA (Victor) & David Spade coming out with a suitcase! Hahaha, that was amazing. I watched it twice!

I love Ellen but I can't figure opt why she choose to endorse JCP. And recently, I was surprised to read this news here that some professionals are saying that cash registers will soon be outdated at your neighborhood store and J.C. Penney says it is moving in that path already. It's not good news for some of our fellows in JCP because that would mean lay-off.
