What Are John McBain’s Ties to Sam on General Hospital?
By Luke Kerr on March 20, 2012
I cannot wait to see how this plays out! This week on General Hospital, Sonny (Maurice Benard) demands that Jason (Steve Burton) deal with John McBain (Michael Easton). What will Stone Cold do when he learns McBain and Sam (Kelly Monaco) have past ties? Watch this week’s GH promo after the jump!

This is where I stop watching GH again if Jason is going to continue on as a robo thug. I just cant buy into a character who robo kills at will and yet is loved by all.... its utter crap. Its why I stopped watching. It was laughable that ANY woman w/o dain bramage would be anywhere near this buffoon of a cartoon character. I enjoy Jason most when he's unconscious in a bed wearing his t-shirt, boots and jeans after surgery, because thats oh-so-realistic!.
RC and FV... if you continue Steve Burton in his present role, there is no redeeming this show. Just stick a fork in it, its done.

DisillusionedGHfan,
I wanted Jason to get back his memories of being Jason Quartermain and have to deal with the moral implications of the life he's lead as a killer Jason Morgan. I'd like a full reunion with Monica.

I was waiting to see the encounter or Sam in scenes with John McBain. I also thought we were done with the mob crap. I just don't see the mob stuff on GH realistic at all. Sonny is too sterotypically written and acted. Much like Olivia. Just to over the top stereotypical. It needs to be racheted down a bit to even seem halfway real. Same with Sonny.

josstheguy,
I so much agree with you. Jason Quatermaine and dealing with his life and actions as Jason Morgan would be so interesting. Jason as Stone Cold is one dimensional and boring. Jason Q please come back.

Gotta say that I agree with the above comments about the robo-killer with a heart of gold. While no one character makes or breaks a show, GH is so overwhelmed with serial killers that it would be incredibly refreshing to have at least ONE male lead who had a conscience.
GH pulled back from the re-emergence of Jason Q during Wolf's tenure. Will they chicken out again and give us another steady dose of Guza's vision for GH? When GH needs something revolutionary to make it relevant again, we get a re-hash of the worst of Guza. Soaps need to do what other shows can't or won't do. Soaps need to tell the stories of people we don't see in other genres. Soaps used to break ground. Are we reduced to copying bad B movie gangster plots?
It also disturbs me that the promos for GH are so mob-centered. Don't they get it yet that this mob stuff is the reason we all left? Do they think this promo is going to attract old viewers? It seems to me that any thinking person would connect the dots very easily and figure out the main problem with GH has been killer heroes and the mindless adoring female characters who have their babies. Then again, we're talking about ABC and a Frons' appointed regime.
God it's hard being a GH fan!

Although I can see where everyone is coming from in regards to the mob and Jason. You can't expect the writers to come in and make huge changes right away. They have to transition Jason out of the mob. I think with Heather Webber coming back and finding out more about the Franco connection, Jason will have other stuff to do besides killing people. I'm willing to be patient and see where this goes. Mostly because I love Michael Easton and John McBain and I can't wait to see how he knows Sam. Please don't tell me that he met her in an elevator (from the SOAPnet What If series a few years ago)

@days4ever---this regime has shown us they can make huge changes in a short amount of time. it's where and how they make the changes that has many of us scratching our heads. I'm not one of the fans who think that change is bad. GH needs BIG changes and it needs them fast. But doubling down on the mob, bringing in ANOTHER killer leading man and making fans wait even longer for a possible return of Jason Q? I know the old soap motto is to always make the fans wait for more. But there are some of us who've been waiting on GH for over a decade. It's time for change. And big ones. And fast. I say just pull the band aid off fast. This slow pull is agonizing and unnecessary. This show needs to move on from Guza/Frons/Phelps. Then again, this regime may not think it does.

@josstheguy,
I would love that as well! My hope had been that the week or so we had of Anna/Robert/Holly and the Robin departure going on, with no Jason to be seen, except quiet and listless in a hospital bed, was a plan to awaken him with a conscience, sadly, he's still robo shmuck... crappolla!

The scenes with Jason and Sam were torture to watch yesterday and not in a good way. It would be a relief for her to go to John McBain even though he's minimally less of a strong silent type than Jason. Jason proved he had a screw loose when he couldn't/wouldn't understand Sam's desire to protect him from upset. I don't know how this is repaired unless you, as writers, just never mention it again. More likely it's the first big crack that will eventually split them apart. Carly has become ridiculous and since I have loved Laura Wright since she was a pole dancer on GL (you should have seen her hair--fabulous!), I held on for as long as I could. The whole Connie/Kate thing is lifeless--does anyone care who the blonde on the screen is. Connie? Kate? I don't care. I don't care about Sonny. I like Michael. We still didn't need the jailhouse rape business and they'd be smart to never mention that again. I'm not crazy about Starr nor have I ever been, but there's some story mileage to be had bringing those two together.
