I'm really scratching my head at John Wesley Shipp and Sean Blakemore for Best Supporting Actor. Really? REALLY?
No Shennell Edmonds for Best Younger Actress?!!!! I know not everyone thought she was good (though I did), but she was certainly not any worse than some of those heffas! Babies don't know where they are!
Really sad that Ilene Kirsten didn't even get a pre-nom.

I actually like this list. Biggest Omits for me are GH's Kimberly McCullough & OLTL's Florencia Lozano & Ilene Kristen

John Wesley Shipp won in 1986 for ATWT (Supporting Actor) & 87 For Santa Barabara (Guest Role)Plus was on GL, OLTL & AMC also. So he's got pals that voted for him. Plus IMHO he was really good as Eddie On OLTL

I know that this is pre-noms and not the official nominations but looking at this list, I can tell that this is going to be another dud for Daytime Emmys. First of all, DOOL, WHERE IS ALLY SWEENEY?! And no lead men (ie. Peter, James, & Galen) did not submit from DAYS? SMH... I guess they are over it. Y&R pre-noms spark mixed feelings, but it is Y&R. I don't even know why John McCook keeps getting pre-nom'ed as he never gets any material. Just a waste and they should've placed Ronn in his spot. AMC & GH did alright (even though AMC should've had Jacob Young up there but I digress) but OLTL... *sighs*... where is Florencia Lozano? Hilary B. Smith? Ilene Kristen? Trevor St. John? Roger Howarth? Kristen Alderson? Shenell Edmonds? Why is John Wesley Shipp even up there? I'm afraid to even who is gonna get nominated for Best show, directing, and writing...

These never cease to amaze me.
AMC-- no Susan Lucci? She actually did great work in its final year. No Alicia or Rebecca, but Melissa who overacted every scene? No Jacob Young?
OLTL-- John Wesley Shipp--WTF? No Bree or Melissa, but Gina who had almost no story, who is great, but let's be real, exactly what is she nominated for? No Kristen? No Robin? It's an insult to Eddie and Austin to be nominated with David Gregory. No Roger, no Michael, no Peter Bartlett even instead of JWS? No Hillary? Ilene should have been nominated over Gina.
GH-- Only Laura Wright for lead actress??? Sean Blakemore-- are you freakin' kidding me? And Bradford-- again? No Kimberly????????? Not that I am a huge fan, but Kelly Monaco does solid work, and I am shocked she isn't nominated.

I like Debbie Morgan but hope MTS wins for lead actress, her writing hasn't been the best (more like awful)but she turned what she was given into gold.
Best actor...I'm surprised more actors didn't submit themselves. Billy Miller submits for supporting? Why didn't Roger Howarth submit? I went back to OLTL just for him. Hmm. I like Muhney, VanDorn, Williams,Irizarry. But Don Diamont deserves an award for best corporate bigwig- $$$Bill rocks! Especially in comparison to Y&R's Tucker who looks uncomfortable & out of place in the boardroom.

4 African Americans pre-nominated? That's good. Sean Blakemore, Debbie Morgan, and Bryton McClure an Darnell Williams are great additions. So That is good. AND YES I'M THROWING IT. So get out the sun!
On the other hand was Jeanne Cooper a lead in 2011? Or is just not capable of putting herself up for supporting? Melody Thomas Scott was off for a long time. How does that count as Leading Actress? Please explain how that works?
So i'm rooting for Debbie and Darnell. Just by the scenes that they were able to play out this year with the death of their baby there is no other actress pre-nominated or actor who could compare to them. And this year was it for them. And we have never had an African American woman win best leading actress. This would be historic for the Daytime Emmy's. And we know it will never happen again. So Debbie deserves it.

Florencia Lozano is the biggest omit for me. Gina Tognoni is the biggest huh? She had some cute lemon-in-my-eye scenes, but not an entirely memorable episode. I would have preferred Florencia or Ilene in supporting. I think this past year Florencia was more supporting than the previous tumor year.

1) I'm giggling already, envisioning the things I'm gonna read about Christel K. from my fellow Y&R fans. LOL!
2) I don't have TIME for Lily Winters right now.....What in Laura Spencer HELL are these people thinking!! Geniveive has been THE WORST! Not gonna forget her first few wretched months on the show. And count me in as a believer that Tristen R. WAS sacrificed to fix the mess that was this characters inception (or Genie's ridiculously over-the-top acting in it's role????)
3) Harmony Hamilton, or whatever her last name is. I love Debby Morgan, Just not in the role of what I am getting here. Angie Hubbard winning the Emmy...more than okay with, however.
4) The mere sight of Erika Slezak's name made me HORRIBLY SAD. I hate you, Brian Fronz and ABC Daytime.
5) I hate the Spew and Regurgitation as well. Just because I CAN.
After having lost so much of Daytime this year, I feel like this is going to be the last BIG YEAR of the DT Emmy's. I hope the winners are actually deserving of the awards (I.E. The kid that plays Noah Newman. Sorry. NO)
I can't wait to keep reading more DC reader comments!

The glaring omissions of so many talented actors and the inclusion of some questionable choices really highlights how the entire Emmy process is a joke. According to Michael Fairman, actors who chose to compete submitted 2-minute reels (!) of their performances. So, the actors who made this list were judged on just 2 minutes of acting. The whole thing is a joke!
For me, the biggest head scratchers are:
- The many OLTL actresses omitted from the Supporting Actress race. Ilene Kristen, Melissa Archer and Bree Williamson all submitted reels, yet only Gina Tognoni made the cut. A travesty!
- Kimberly McCullough being overlooked as supporting actress on GH.
- Robert Howarth not getting the nod for supporting actor on OLTL.
- Shenell Edmonds and Kristen Alderson both being shut out of the race for younger actress. They were the only two to submit from OLTL and you're telling me they couldn't get nominated for 2 minutes of their work? Preposterous!

TONY GEARY - actor (over him but Luke's intervention and Jake's death was pretty great)
REBECCA HERBST - supporting
JONATHAN JACKSON - supporting
LEXI - younger (gosh she was robbed last year)
CHANDLER - younger

Oh, I would so hate if this were to happen. I can understand JJ, but ABC shouldn't walk away with 5 top spots. Totally undeserving of that honor.
I know that's not what the Emmy's are about, I just personally would hate to see the Network that's single handedly destroying the Genre puff out their chests.

you all better go in on the podcast!
Nathan Parsons? I thought he was 30? ...
It looks like Michael Muhney baked better brownies than Christian LeBlanc
this year.
I am not an AMC watcher and I am shocked Susan Lucci is not there.
Genie Francis and Debbie Morgan for their y&r stints ... mary mercy mayday..
Christel Khalil -- I don't even think there's a way to convey the noise I made... how old is she? How old is Lily suppose to be? She's got the storyline history of a 35 year old...

Where the hell's Katherine Kelly Lang?! No Susan Lucci?! Both ladies had some amazing performances; i thought for sure they would be on this list!! GRRRRR!!!
That being said, I'm thrilled to see Melody Thomas Scott on the list. I really hope she makes it on the official nominees list. I'm also happy to see so many bold and Beautiful actors on the Pre-Noms and hope they all get that final nomination. I just wish Katherine were on this list as well.
I hope Michelle Stafford doesn't get a nomination. No offense to her fans, but she just seems like such a phony and so full of herself. A nomination would probably just cause her ego to swell up.
2 December 2011

I am afraid that Debbie will cancel out herself being nominated in 2 categories...I hope this doesn't happen. Erika is always impressive, but I am rooting for Debbie.
It would be great if Jerry ver Dorn won in the Leading category. Even though I know OLTL can be camp, he usually delivers a nicely understated performance.
There are some glaring admissions in some categories and you'd think with 1/2 the shows gone over the past 3 or so years, they wouldn't leave anyone out. Shenell Edmonds should've been in that Younger category regardless of her acting before, she did laudatory work in her last storyline. The kid who played Sam was so entertaining, you may think I'm crazy but yes...he deserved a nomination. If Sean Blakemore can get one, c'mon.
I can't analyze Y&R but they definitely shouldn't get a writing or a directing award this year-- truly a disaster!
I wonder who will get a Lifetime Achievement Award. I think Elizabeth Hubbard deserves one.

Muhney didn't whine about not getting nominated. He was trying to fix a broken system that all of the actors agreed to. You're misinformed. Get educated, it helps to know the real story.

@Realitycheck33: We can agree on that one. For me, i'm tired of seeing Michelle Stafford always in there. She is overrated! There was a time when she was good, but once she started cropping up in every storyline and written under this regime she went down hill.
There are actresses who can do stellar work 100% of the time even under the worst of writing circumstances. She is not one of them.
She'd be one of the people i'd fire if I took over Y&R. It was not her who brought the ratings up for a minute, it was Melody Thomas Scott (and I will rag on her spotty acting), but I know her importance to the show.
It was Carolyn Hinsey who propped Michelle up at the fist part of the last decade as a "diva in the making..." All this despite the fact that it was another actress who use to be on that show that was actually turning in the numbers when was she on screen. The only one to poll as high as Eric Bradaen and to tank the ratings by several hundred thousand when she left. Ya'll know who that is. Yet somehow Stafford was propped up as the next best thing to slice bread.
And when they wrote her playing Sheila with plastic surgery that was a testament to her own limitations as an actress. But she sure thought she was an Oscar contender.
That's just my 50k investment. I got a cool mil' to invest if you need it. 5 if you want to go for the gold.

Christel dealing with Cane's death was pretty good. Best work shes done in the 97 years since shes been on the show.
I liked The Stafford as Sheila. I did NOT like her performance with her Dad this week. It really fell flat to me.

Like others, I think it is sad that One Life didn't have more representation. Awful that Trevor and Florencia didn't get in there as they brought it every single day.
For best actress, I'm a fan of several of those pre-nominated (Debbi Morgan / Susan Flannery / Erika Slezak / Kelly Lang) so I hope they all make it. I'd be happy to see any of them win, but it would bitter-sweet regardless, because both Erika and Debbi would be up for the last time for those iconic roles they played.
I'm always a fan of Mike Muhney. Here's hoping he reigns victorious.
Out of the choices pre-nom'ed in younger category: would love for Kim Matula to take female; and Chandler Massey for young male, though Chandler is really bringing his best in the 2012 season. So he had better win next year for sure.
1 September 2011
1 year 11 weeks
Of course Michael Muhney gets a pre-nomination after all the bitching he did all of last year and this year. No shock there. TIIC are probably going to give him an award just so he shuts up and puts us all out of our misery...including himself. And lets get real here, he wasn't trying to "fix" the system for the sake of "fixing it" and helping his fellow brotha and sistah's, he did it to make it easier for him to win. Lets keep it real...
And Michelle Stafford...again? Really? She thinks her scenery chewing and over the top "acting" is considered Emmy worthy? LOL! Riiiight. Only on Daytime Soaps is it this easy to win a gold statue. But hey, they have that "Please welcome Emmy Winner [insert name here]" honor attached to their name forever regardless if they were deserving or not.
MTS better win after all the hell they put her character through. And she took it in strides!
Jeanne Cooper, love her and she seems like a nice lady but really? What did she do that was so Emmy worthy?
Overall, this whole list is filled with a bunch of WTFs. It may as well be the last year for these rigged Emmys. They're nothing but popularity contest and awards for the greatest(obnoxious) 'talkers'.
That's MY opinion and I'm sticking to it.
