Star Jones and Barbara Walters Finally Clear The View
By Jillian Bowe on February 22, 2012

The View watchers held their collective breath as controversial former co-host Star Jones returned to the talk show today. Six years after being fired from the series, the legal eagle came back to her old stomping grounds to discuss her struggles with heart disease, however Barbara Walters used the opportunity to have Jones clear up the reason why she decided to announce her exit from the series, live on the air, after being told her contract wasn't being renewed, as opposed to making up a story like Walters and fellow executive producer Bill Geddie wanted. Watch the clip after the jump!

Barbara Walters really needs to hang it up and leave television news as a journalist and not a tabloid commentator.

...yeah....Babs wanted to clear her name. She wasn't protecting jack. How can she protect Starr by not telling Starr's business? It wasn't her business to tell in the first place!
The look on Whoopi's face says it all.

Star came off way classier in that clip than Barbara and Joy. She wanted to discuss the Go Red campaign, and Barbara wanted Star to "admit" it wasn't Barbara's fault. I've been in the position of not having my contract renewed and the administration wanted to sell some sweetheart storyline about it. I let them, and I regretted it. I'd have much rather told the truth than let them put their magical spin on it, so I completely get why Star wouldn't let Barbara "protect" her. But then Joy tried to tie that in to Star's lie about her weight loss because she knew Star wasn't losing ground with the audience. I appreciate Elizabeth (there's a statement I rarely make) stepping in to move things along. Barbara can shove it.

Star Jones was my favorite part of "The View" when she was a co-host. I can honestly say I haven't enjoyed it quite the same since she left the show. I don't blame Star for going out the way that she did. If I remember correctly the news had already been leaked to the press that she had been fired at least a month before it was officially announced. It was a circus on the show during that time because Meredith had left and it was rumored that Rosie was going to become the new moderator. The media was going crazy because at first they didn't know if Star/Rosie could get along and then they were saying Rosie only would do it if Star left the show. It was crazy.
I've always been a fan of Star Jones so I am glad to see her return to the show.

Smitty....I completely forgot about Rosie. That makes Babs look even more like a B that was trying to cover her own azz (why she felt the need to do so, I don't know).
Babs was hiring Rosie in spite of the fact that she disrespected Starr as a guest, and they used Starrs wedding hoopla as one of the reasons not to renew her contract. So while Starr didn't want to focus on the past due to the negativity, Babs wanted to make sure that it was known that she was trying to "protect" Starr. Really? I still can't believe that Joy said that she lied when people asked her about Starr. Don't people understand the term "ask her", and "it's her business"? That's not a lie.

Very uncomfortable but I think Star handled it with class. Whoopi's look said it all. I've always felt you can't trust Walters as far as you can throw her.

I am going to start off by saying I am so not a Star Jones fan, but YOU GO STAR! I never thought I would be giving Star Jones props for anything, but she totally kept herself from getting pulled into what could have been a really ugly chat fight. This was so uncofortable to watch, and like Star said, it was 6 years ago, who cares!
I think Star did a great job keeping it classy and even Elizabeth got them back on track. Whoopi and Sherri looked like they didnt want to be there at all. I dont get what Barbara's deal is with this, Star has let it go, maybe its time for Babs to as well.

Star really did keep it classy. I don't know why Barbara and Joy felt the need to bring all this up again. They invited back a co-host who was there for eight great years, can't their be some respect on both sides for that?
What I also didn't understand, Joy did interview Star like I think two years ago on her own talk show, where they practically were talking about the same things, but Joy was more friendly about it. Here it seemed like she was picking on her with Barbara.
It's sad, because these ladies could have put an end to all of this. Finally! But guess that's not what brings in the ratings.
Again Star handled it very well and I'm fine with her never ever doing THE VIEW again and writing another book about talk show bitches ... which sorry Joy wouldn't be about THE TALK it would be about what this Emmy Award winning institution has become.

I loved Joy saying that "Satan's Sisters" must have been about the Talk. I thought that was AWESOME!

Glad to see that someone (Star) could keep it classy! Whoopi & Sherri's faces both said it all... Babs your such a BITCH! She needs to just retire already; I have never liked her and I've never watched 20/20 when she's on or any of her specials. The only reason I watch The View is for Elisabeth, Sherri & Whoopi, who always keeps it real unlike Joy & Babs!
