Twitter Gives GH’s Nancy Lee Grahn a Voice
Nancy Lee Grahn’s Alexis Davis is embarking on a menopause storyline on General Hospital. In an interview with TV Guide, Grahn discusses the new twist in Alexis’ life, whether-or-not Frank Valentini likes the Jill Farren Phelps approved storyline and her penchant for speaking out on Twitter.
TV Guide Magazine: You've blasted everyone from Vera Wang, because she's a soap snob who wouldn't make her dresses available to GH, to that poor girl who beat out Lexi Ainsworth for the Daytime Emmy last year.
Grahn: I was pissed! I saw those Emmy tapes. There was no contest. That award was Lexi's. It was like they were asking, "Who's prettier, Angelina Jolie or Phyllis Diller?" And then they opened the envelope and the winner was Phyllis Diller! Don't me wrong, I love Phyllis Diller. But, c'mon, let's be real here! And my Vera Wang rant was very well deserved. It reached 100,000 people. How else is someone like me going to reach that many? I'm not on magazine covers. I have no voice. Twitter is a place for me to say what I think and get some response back. [Laughs] It's a place for me to vent about the Kardashians. And I have very funny and intelligent people responding to me, so it's like an ongoing dialogue, a conversation.

I do read her comments daily. She has gift for writing. I also have a lot of the same opinions, especially on politics and other subjects.
Too bad the writers on GH in the past could not come up with stellar stories or interesting dialog to keep viewers.
Hopefully this new team will help.
Nancy Lee Grahn's take on everyday events are fantastic. I could see her on a discussion show like the View.

I follow her on Twitter and I enjoy MOST of her tweets! She does have a tendency to go off on tangents and seems to get a little bit too catty sometimes. And she doesn't respond to tweets either....at least she's never responded to mine. But I'm not bitter....
But for the most part, she's entertaining.

She makes me smile and pay attention to what's happening on screen even when I'm not paticularly thrilled with what I'm seeing. Although having read the article, she almost makes menopause seem like a fun and grand adventure. She was absolutely correct about Lexi though (my view here). What BA did on AMC paled in comparison in terms of material dealt with and how it was executed. It should have been Lexi in a walk...

I have always loved NLG since Santa Barbara. She has been wasted on GH for the better part of the last decade. Hopefully, the new creative team will be able to utilize her considerable talent. I am not overly enthused about a menopause story on GH because I am sure it will be played for comedy rather than a dynamic exploration. But Ron C. pleasantly surprised me on OLTL a time or two

Nancy is the bomb! She is one of the best actresses on daytime. Heck on tv. I loved her from Santa Barbara. Even though I do not watch that mob loving mess GH, if I am switching channels and Nancy is on the air, I am glued imediately. However I smell a plot line here. Alexis will have to reverse her menapause because she is going to have to carry the grandbaby to full term! LOL

Elwood heres the difference, you have no credentials which qualify you to evaluate Miss America contestants and you have not won any of the contests which would make you a finalist for the Miss America contest. NLG on the other hand, having had decades in the business and as an emmy winner herself is immensely qualified to judge the two tapes and Lexi proved herself worthy by making it in to the finals. BIG difference. But then again my guess is that you are only slamming her because her character is kelly monacos characters mother and you cant seem to differentiate characters from actors. I hate to say this but thats a little nutso.

And some of us don't agree with Nancy on this. I find her comments unprofessional and biased. If she was being objective Emily O'Brien should have won. Laura Wright submitted the weakest reel robbing the great Colleen Zenk but I don't see her complaining

Jphelps I dont have any problem with you disagreeing with her or saying shes biased. What I thing crosses a line is calling her bitter and classless and foolish, especially if that opinion doesnt stem from a reaction to her tweets but rather from a reaction to who her character is related to on screen. Its her OPINION that Lexi won. Is she not entitled to her opinion?

I don't necessarily agree with her on the emmy win comments. There are others that won and I am stunned. Many times top talent gets shut out because two nominees split votes. Seems to be very common in daytime. All you have to do is look at other nominees and it is obvious.
I will not be specific because then I am doing the same thing.
