DAYS, All My Children, Glee, Shameless and Many More Nab GLAAD Nominations

Nominations for the 23rd Annual GLAAD Media Awards were announced this week and several soaps made the cut. In daytime, both Days of Our Lives and All My Children received nods for their LGBT storytelling. 

This past season DAYS began the soap's first gay storyline featuring Freddie Smith as comfortably out college student Sonny Kiriakis and Chandler Massey as his tortured, closeted pal Will Horton. The final year of All My Children saw the soap's iconic lesbian character Bianca Montgomery (Christina Bennett Lind) fall in love for what was likely the last time, with previously hetero friend Marissa Tasker (Sarah Glendening).

In the Outstanding Talk Show Episode category, gay-themed episodes of Ellen, The Oprah Winfrey Show and Anderson also received mention. Four primetime continuing dramas will face off for Outstanding Drama series, as Degrassi, Grey's Anatomy, Pretty Little Liars, Shameless and Torchwood: Miracle Day were all nominated.

Soapy comedies Glee and The Big C also nabbed Outstanding Comedy Series nods. The GLAAD Media Awards will be held in New York City on March 24, Los Angeles on April 21 and in San Francisco on June 2. For a complete list of the nominees click here!

I know this is a soap opera and the writers are trying to give us a proper build up, but I want to see Will having some hot steamy sex in the afternoon......

I don't care if it's with EJ or Sonny......though I must admit I'd be partial to some "WeeJ" action.

AMC did get nominated. GH & OLTL had no gay characters in 2011

I'm with you Alstonboy!! I want Will to get some action already!! Laughing out loud And for Sonny to get a storyline since he seems to be nonexistent on the canvas.

I've been disappointed in GLAAD since they failed to BLAST OLTL for its treatment of KISH!

Actually they did blast OLTL for KISH and For That Daniel Coulson Story in 2005

Thanks appleridge. I knew Kish received the awards but never heard the outrage over the way TPTB/ABC dumped them.

I still think that Chad and Will should be the end game but I wouldn't mind a little role in the hay for Will and EJ. Although Will is of age, EJ wont be 18 for 3 more years. I would hate for Will to have to wait that long to have sex. Seriously I think Will should just lay a lip lock on EJ mid sentence. Right after he calls him William ofcourse. But please please please no sofa sex. Go upstairs. The Dimera mansion has untold number of beds. Or better yet go get in the cave behind the secret wall in Stefano's den! That could be their secret little spot!
