One Life to Live's Kassie DePaiva on Upcoming General Hospital Stint: "Once The Mannings Come to Town Anything is Possible"
One Life to Live vet Kassie DePaiva has taken to her blog to set the record straight about her upcoming stint as Blair Cramer on sister sudser General Hospital.
Now...on the General Hospital...Yippie. I must say the ads and press release by ABC is a little misleading and I feel I need to clarify to all my friends, family and fans that are emailing and calling wondering when I'm moving to Los Angeles. Frank Valentini, GH's EP, asked me to come out for a couple of shows in February and I'm thrilled. Not only will I get to work with a fantastic cast...but a little piece of OLTL will live on. That makes me very happy. And who knows where it will lead. Once the Mannings come to town anything is possible."
Doesn't sound like the Mannings or John McBain will be eating the GH canvas alive, as some have feared. Instead, it appears the popular ABC Daytime characters will serve to drive new story for the characters already on the GH canvas — which is exactly what head writer Ron Carlivati revealed on the Daytime Confidential podcast. Are you excited for Blair, Todd (Roger Howarth), Starr (Kristen Alderson) and McBain's (Michael Easton) arrivals in Port Charles? Sound off in the comments!

I think people were getting upset way too quickly. No one knew for how long the stint would be. It appears here that it's for a few episodes. If it lasts longer, great for them as they still have jobs. If it doesn't work out, then it doesn't work out. But I choose to have faith in Frank Valentini and Ron Carlivati. I'm not a GH fan simply because this current show is so mob driven. I watched when it was about a hospital. But in the end, whatever can benefit the genre would be great. Good luck!

Some soap fans are just crazy. Seriously, they can't understand that GH's ratings are HORRIBLE. With its time slot given away to Katie Couric, its almost certain that GH will be cancelled in April. Bringing the OLTL characters for a visit is just away to resolve OLTL storylines that were left up in the air AND bring OLTL viewers to GH to help the ratings.
Seriously, people just need to stop being so naive or clueless. ABC has made its feeling about soaps very clear. Why ignore the tyrannosaurus rex in the room? ABC already announced the return of Anna Devane, Robert Scorpio, and Holly. Those are three vets. So, the OLTL folks aren't going to be eating the show.

It's probably going to be more than a few episodes because Laura Wright mentioned on twitter that she was going to give Kassie the name of a good school for her kids.

When The City was canceled I hoped some characters (Richard Wilkins, Zoe, Carla Soleito...) would migrate to AMC or OLTL. When Port Charles was canceled I hoped the for the GH migration of Kevin and Lucy (of course), but also Dr. Chris Ramsey. This is great. I'm glad I will see some more KDP and I hold out hope for some Florencia Lozano.
Ron and Frank know how to treat long time ABC daytime viewers. When David Vickers did his buddhist thing and he made the trek back to Llanview there was a highway sign that noted the distances of Llanview, Pine Valley, and Corinth. A new or OLTL only viewer would care about one of the cities, but if you were an ABCD viewer then you got the entire reference.
I really hope they release the air date of the new material because I can no longer even stomach watching GH on tivo fast forward in 60 seconds. I jump via the 15 minutes marks and am done in 5 seconds.

There's gonna be a bloodbath at GH to make room for these actors. I
don't care what Ron says, the ABC brass is going to mandate a few HUGE exits I've heard. Oh, well, GH needs to become a viable soap again and maybe I'll watch. GH and B&B are the only stories I don't catch...

this. exactly. that press release also said the same thing. and at least the Manning's are an established family in daytime. I dont care if it was in Port Charles or Llanview. at least they are KNOWN, whether folks love or hate them. can't say the same about that psycho Lisa wannabe, ewan, lady in white, delores, and any other newbie wolfe has brought on since his arrival. i'm happily looking foward to some GOOD change in port charles. folks are jumping ship behind the scenes and they were pissed long before ron and frank were chosen to come aboard. the show sucks ass and has for a long time now. sorry to be so blunt, but this show was my heart for years, and it's terrible to the point where i can't even watch it without wanting to slice something. maybe ron can get folks to laugh and smile again, crack a few jokes. i also think this will kick off his getting core families front and center again. previous regimes have decimated core families on GH, and he wants to bring them back. as dysfucntional as they are, the manning's are still a unit. at least he's being smart in wanting to bring back old GH favorites as well. i can't wait to see what he has in store.

If you don't like GH then turn it off. I have been watching since the early 70's FAITHFULLY. Yes some stories get boring as well as characters get too obnoxious to watch ie. LuLu. Can't stand watching her holier than thou drunk ass. Dante' way too good for her. That said, it doesn't mean I don't want GH to continue. I DO want it to continue. Katie Couric can not keep people interested for decades like this soap has. Maybe ABC should thin the herd at the top who make too much $$$$ & keep the soap and the fan base! I don't know anyone who will tune in to see the Couric show if it replaces GH! ABC is definitely shooting itself in the foot. As for the Manning's coming to town... really! They aren't going to last long

I love GH. I love Roger Howarth. I couldn't be happier. I also was a big fan of OLTL. I wish they weren't coming to GH as their OLTL character's though because it will be confusing. How can McBain show up without his kid and Natalie? How will they resolve Todd/Victor/Tamass issue without a long term story and why is Blair bringing her daughter who left to pursue a career in music and leave behnd her small son and teenage son? I could easily see Michael Easton with the new lady cop on GH. I know she is married but he is off on a construction job and a crane could alway's fall on him. I would love to see Blair bring her very handsome son for Molly. I would like to see Roger and Kassie come on as a couple.
Right now GH is boring. I really don't want to see another temper tantram from Jason or Michael and I am already sick of watching Jax stalk Sonny. The new doctor constantly trying to nail STeve is boring. We already went there with Lisa. I think bringing OLTL superstar's on is a great idea.

GH is a damn mess! I watched today while doing my laundry and had to mute the TV. Between that whiny little imbecile, Lulu, and that idiotic lady in white, who was in RIDICULOUSLY long scenes with that new doctor reciting the most asinine dialogue I've heard in a long time, this show is nothing but an hour long lullaby. Who the hell are all these new characters who have invaded this show? And why does Garin Wolf think he can craft an ENTIRE show around Lulu, Ethan and that dreadful woman in white? Newsflash: YOU CAN'T!!!!
I can't even count the ways that GH sucks!! They need all the help they can get, and I hope Ron can help make it watchable again. I have invested a lot of faith in him and hopefully he'll deliver the goods!!

In the end, the storyline will usher Starr Manning in as a cast member, but Blair and Todd are simply "on loan" for awhile. Thats what I'm hearing. John McBain is there as story dictates for whats in mind.
I've also been lead to believe ABC has not begun making funeral arrangements for GH. You wont hear a decision until late summer though. I have enormous faith in the direction ABC has gone in with it's GH management from this point forward. Enjoy the ride!
I also know who the "mother" will be on HIMYM will be, that one, I'm keeping. ..but I digress.
People in the business, they talk, even when "mums" the word. ABC's goal over the past two years was to destroy interest in daytime soaps, [I've been saying this for 2 years on here if you look back], they succeeded.
However, management has changed over the past 6 months at the Mouse House in several areas of the company and those changes may have given GH a stay of execution. GH does have international appeal and recognition, where as the other two did not, just keep THAT in mind when you look at who is now spearheading ABC daytime and what dept. is managing it.

I agree.
If I got mad and turned off every show that pissed me off for a time period, I wouldn't watch television. It's my opinon that GH sucks right now, and I'm looking for it to get better, and I'm going to continue to watch to see those changes, just as I watched during the Labine years, the Guza years, and the Wolfe year and those in between. I'll watch FAITHFULLY until the show goes off the air, but if it sucks in the meantime, I'm going to say so. As a fan, I'm going to praise as well as criticize. And right now, I see nothing to praise about this show, I don't care how long I've watched it, which has been for over 20 years.
I don't really give a crap how long they last. The Manning’s could stay for a day, a month, or the entire time the show stays on the air. They are a family that *I* am interested in watching for however long their tenure in Port Charles. They entertained *me* in Llanview and I'm hoping they can bring some kind of light to a dank and dreary Port Charles.

Why not wait until the show airs the characters before jumping to conclusions.
However if it doesn't workout for Kassie DePavia at GH; she would be great on the B&B playing Donna Logan. Kassie and Kathernie Kelly would be great together...

I dont understand why people get all upset before they even have a reason to. I surely dont think 4 actors will kill GH, if you are a OLTL veiwer it should be exciting and if your not then whats the difference between them coming and new characters??? I am very hopeful for the writers to arrive because Garin has been a horrible head writer and I have never ever been so bored watching GH as this it has been so dark and depressing. People complain about the mob but it doesnt even compare to all this non mob related garbage on our screen. Killing of little kids and breaking up long time friends and families, divorce, drugs drinking, death and no love or laughter at all since he took over. There is nothing wrong with trying something new and if it works great and if not I am sure they will decide fromt there. I for one really enjoyed his podcast and i suggest people listen to it before judging! Also in regards to the MOB there isnt as much as people say there is and I for one will take the MOB over the crap we were just fed since Garin started writing, even long time actors have jumped ship and JJ was just wxhausted from so much sad storylines, it took forever to get him back in in such a short period Garin scared him off. All the show needed was balance and i was hoping thats what garin would do but all he did was have every character attack Sonny, i gues eh thought the fans would approve and maybe the Sonny haters but not the Sonny lovers. We want balance and excitingment and some laughter and tears so I am very hopeful for the new writers and welcome them and will give them a chance before I comment on them!

AMEN! They call us "clueless" because we have the nerve to question the creative direction of this show as it airs its final month. I think anyone who believes that the petty crumbs of hope ABC has dished out are real should go back and look at how ABC has handled the cancellations and possible "re-births" of AMC and OLTL.
There's a lot of cluelessness for sure...starting first and foremost with making saviors and soap gods out of FV and RC. You're lining up just like ABC wants...until June when they announce GH is just as dead as it has been creatively dead for a decade. If it makes any viewer feel better to ride on the dynamic duo's jockstraps for hope, feel free. But don't call others clueless when you hold onto your own delusions.

And, really, if ABCD were serious about saving their soaps, GH would be on the scrap heap with AMC, not OLTL.

Kassie Depaiva is the one I'm most looking forward to seeing in Port Charles. Mostly, we don't know who her father is -- and that could be a compelling tie-in to the GH canvas. Also, she's had history with Skye, who has been mentioned recently.
Seriously, why was Kassie given a few episodes when Roger was given a serious stint... such discrimination! I anything, Todd and Blair need to continue their story together.
