No. 10: James Franco, General Hospital
Marching to the beat of his own drum has proven successful for 2011 Oscar nominee and host James Franco. Unfortunately for General Hospital fans this year, it also meant a return to Port Charles by his Jason (Steve Burton) obsessed character, Franco. Instead of impressing the masses, Franco devastatingly disappointed. His continued dime-store attempt at transforming Franco into General Hospital’s version of Heath Ledger’s The Joker failed one again to inspire. James Franco may generate mainstream press for the ABC soap, but his acting, the character, and not to mention Franco’s storylines, are so convoluted we’d rather spend time watching the paint on one of Franco’s art pieces dry, than to see him return to Port Charles in the future.
No. 9: Eddie Matos, All My Children
Some actors just aren’t cut out for daytime. Eddie Matos is one such actor. His acting, as General Hospital’s slimy Professor Pete Marquez, was so bad in 2006/2007 we wanted him off our screen ASAP. After his time in Port Charles, we were surprised to discover how much we enjoyed him in the short-lived CBS drama Cane. More recently, his turn as The State Farm Guy also made us smile. Unfortunately, Matos’ return to daytime, as All My Children’s Reverend Ricky Torres, quickly erased any goodwill those projects had generated. Matos appeared out of place in his own skin, chewed up and spit out Pine Valley scenery faster than a riding lawnmower and his attempts at holding his own opposite Alicia Minshew often ended with him looking dazed and confused.

Andrew Trischitta earned that number #1 spot! He was truly robbed of the deserved top spot. Poor baby. Just...ugh. David Gregory is a very poor actor. I have always thought Farah Fath was very poor actress, even since her time on DAYS. The scene in which Rex's paternity was revealed during Jess/Natalie's non-wedding, Fath is visibly fighting back laughter at the highly dramatic scene. Julia Pace-Mitchell is not very good and I am surprised because I love her mother, Judy Pace, in 'Cotton Comes To Harlem.' Perhaps, acting ability is not genetic. Still, I would like to evaluate Pace-Mitchell in a well-written role just to be sure. Daniel Goddard gave shockingly bad performances too.
I don't agree with Bruce Weitz being on this list. His acting is one of the few god things about GH these days. The actress who played Lisa Niles and the one who plays Officer Padilla is also a very bad actress.

Even though they have toned Gen-V down she is still over-pronouncing many her words with those weird facial expressions. It's painful to watch her with Jack.
The hit couple was Jill and Colin. Has anyone found out why they would keep Gen-v who bombed and let Colin go, who was popular?
Has anyone heard if Jess Walton is being let go? The Canadian episode had Harmony stated that she had to take care of Kay since no one else will????? And Kay is spending New Years Eve dinner at home with Murphy, Ester and Harmony.
Where's Jill locked in her room? Why are they acting like she doesn't exist or never existed?

Genie Francis as number one is absolutely right! That Genevieve was a mess the first few months she was on the show.....I don't think the character can ever recover from that. This rushed romance with Jack isn't helping either. She needs to go!

Or that terrible actor who played the special agent working for Irene? Genie at her worst is far better than any of those people on your list.

Now I will agree that she has not been doing her thing on Y&R but seriously, (in my Phoebe Tyler Wallingford voice), HOW DAAAARE YOU put my beloved Genie at #1 above that oh so painful to watch Andrew Trischitta. Really DC? Really? My God, I was watching him today in scenes with two of OLTL’s best, Roger Howarth and Kassie DePaiva and it was PAINFUL. I don’t even agree with just the tad credit you all been giving him on the podcast. This kid makes me clutch my pearls in total disbelief that Frank and Ron would allow someone this bad on a show that has earned the reputation as being one of the best acted soaps in daytime drama history.
Again, I hear you on Genie Francis and Y&R but she really doesn’t deserve that ranking.

If this list had an eleventh spot that would belong to Daniel Goddard. The man was doubly bad in that doppelganger story. I honestly felt like quoting Jack Mcfarlane from Will and Grace whenever he was onscreen earlier this year, "Cane, shut up, stand still, and take your shirt off."
Poor Julia Pace Mitchell! I do believe I saw some sparks from her when she debuted on the show; and if directed right and given the proper material she would probably do a decent job.

Andrew Trischitta deserved the #1 spot. Let's face it, this is the ONLY "award" in daytime where he should have been a SHOO-IN.
I feel that Genevieve is growing and developing more depth as a character. She used to do nothing but smirk like an infant with gas all the time. Now I can see her POSSIBLY coming a viable Y&R character, though the entire Atkinson family is still as useless as a penny with a hole in it.

I think Genie's Genevieve is better now. I think Zima is horrible and the show is stupid for bringing her back. I think Trischitta has grown a little as an actor...learning from pros at OLTL. Y&R should pan one note Sophia and yes I am thrilled Days got rid of Dario!

If Genie Francis gets the number #1 spot on this list (and she was bad) I would have to list Crystal Chappell on this list too. Both actress are Emmy award winners, proven talents with large fan bases but both victims of horrible writing in 2011. Crystal Chappell's scenery-chewing was epically bad and truly painful to watch. The overacting, blubbering, face-twisting, snot-nosing...just UGH. I know she was handed a turkey of a story but her acting was equally a disaster to watch.
@alstonboy - Dionne Farris made some great music! Yeah, The Atkinsons are worthless and, of course, the only one with potential was jettisoned_ Colin played by Tristian Rogers.

If the only way they can salvage a character is to rewrite her entire personality and move her far away from any story she was originally in, then I think they're a huge failure, especially since Genie Francis was supposed to be some huge coup. Unless she has a story more interesting than increasingly pointless Jack weeping over her, then I would like her to go.
No one expected anything out of most of the people on this list. Genie was supposed to be an icon. For that reason I think she earned #1.
I also would have put the always terrible JPL and Farah Fath on here.

I agree Genie F. she deserved to be in top spot because the character and the acting was and still is horrible. Genie's acting style doesn't fit Y&R's style of soap, she belongs on GH's where she is loved and fits into GH's style. I think YZ should be at #2 because I will cut Andrew T. a break because he was new and green. OLTL was probably his first acting job and regardless he's grown as actor from working with the vets. Unlike Genie which is seasoned vet there isn't any excuses. One of the posts on here mentioned Genie got roasted when she was playing Ceara on AMC and I did search and found horrible reviews on her performances over the years, in her first prime time series back when she left GH in early '80s but got good reviews on her Hallmark channel movies. I think she is more successful in "one note" roles and try not to spread into other directions because the range isn't there. Overall the list is about right and agree with the listings. She needs to go back to GH and stay there because now the writers are trying to tone her character down and doesn't work.

Wow, bad call putting Genie Francis at #1. If you wanted her to be on this list with the lack of talent at least make her #10. I don't think she deserves to be on here at all. Anyone who doesn't think the character has improved 100% either stopped watching the show or just doesn't want to accept it.
I agree Genie belongs on GH, but I think she's been great ever since the Jack pairing and ever since they stopped treating that whole family like a bunch of crazy vampires. Pretty disgusted that she's at the top of the list with all of these talentless people. She came out weak and annoying, but has turned the role around into someone who I actually want to see on screen more. I think making her #1 was an attempt to be bold, but it just comes off as silly.

Genie was thrilled with her early material. She wanted to play someone who wasn't a victim, etc. Now she is playing a victim who is there solely to make us laugh at crazy Patty for the millionth time. That's the type of material she would have probably hated on GH and supposedly wasn't going to get on Y&R. If she can only play extremely limited material which showcases all that she supposedly hates, then I think she should be on the list.

I watched Zima the first time round and just threw up my hands when they brought her back for a second time.
Wooden, Andrew Trischitta got more airtime and I can see him as #1. Zima deserves at least #2.

GF of Luke and Laura fame is a recognizable veteran soap actress. I started watching Y&R again just to see GF and quickly removed the soap from my DVR.
I couldn't even watch Franco scenes on YT the first go around. The actor should just stick to movies.

GF at #1 over Andrew Trischitta? Really? Ok, I've never been a GH fan so the only prior experience I had with Francis was as Ceara on AMC. I'll admit, the over-enunciating scenery chewing at the outset was pretty unsettling and seemed completely un-Francis like, but I think the character's softening a bit and while I'm not uber-crazy about Jack's ten thousandth quickie proposal, I'd still rather watch "Genaura" than numerous other elements of Y&R(Lane, Daisy, the faux-Sopranos-by-way-of-Jersey-Shore cartoons, Sophia/Neil, Patty-redux, and any and every man falling into Sharon's platinum lady garden, not to mention any and every woman being poked by Nick's golden rod).
As for Trischitta, he should be numero uno hands down. Unless something has changed between now and Wednesday's ep, he is still far and away the worst actor on daytime. And I'm not sure how people like Florencia Lozano can share scenes with him without wanting to completely throttle him. Not sure what the casting director saw in this kid other than really great hair.
Also glad to see Julia Pace Mitchell on here; have yet to see the potential there and it's been a year and a half or so. Line delivery is still completely awkward and stiff; the one time I did see a little fire was going at it with Katherine and that lasted all of three or four minutes. Not to mention no chemistry with anyone on the show; I'll admit the Tucker/Sophia dynamic is kinda sweet, but I'm no Tucker fan so that doesn't really interest me.

I think much of Genie's material was godawful so (for me) its not so much of knowing where she was at but if she wanted to be there
The rap I keep hearing is her "acting choices" how much the director has to do with this must be so minimal he doesn't need the job. I knew as soon s she was stuck w/Cane & LiLy it didn't look promising for me.
But Y. Zima not being #1 I'm sorry I have a HUGE problem with that she was awful ech & every single time she showed up but the first was the worst. I keep thinking she's a relative or a friend of the Bells there must be some reason why this bint kept coming back.
About Bruce Weitz I didn't have a problem with his A. Zacharra ... I .
Crystal Kahlil I've "never" understood her as an actress. I just think Y/R is cast heavy & storylines I'm interested in has a tendency to be half told or disappear .. Yo? where is Harmony?

Ronn Moss should be on this list and at the number one spot. He has been and still is the worst actor in daytime soaps for the last 25 years. I wish that Daytime Emmys had a Razzie award category cause Ronn Moss would win every year. There can't be some age limit cause you guys put Bruce Weitz on this list who actually had a solid acting year on GH. He was spot in playing both the comedy and deranged side of the AZ character. One of the most entertaining performers going on the six remaining soaps.

Bruce Weitz was one of the rare bright spotss at GH.
Officer Delores Padilla definitely needs to be on this list next year.

To call Julia Pace Mitchell's character SophMEa a Dru-droid is laughable to the point of absurdity. Not even close...... I wish the character had died in childbirth, it would have been way more fun to watch Neil raise a baby on his own than watch these two wrestle on the coach and call it a love scene. Awful! The pairing could not be more awkward or unwatchable.

I agree with most of these. I don't agree with Eddie Matos. I think it was the way his character was written and he was doing the best he could to act it out.
I think next year Drake Hogestyn will be on the list. I love the character of John Black, but DH is just a terrible actor.

1) As a Y&R Fan, I'm so sad 3 actors, well, 2 actors and Yvonne Zima are listed. Then I remembered AMC has been cancelled. OHHH, hahaa, I kid (no, I don't...)
2) THe Dude that plays Austin on DAYS is HANDS DOWN, UNWATCHABLE. For giggles last week, I tuned in to see how the show's evolved; has it lived up to all we've heard about. He's Horrible!! (I'm blanking on his name @ the moment) I watched his Austin Inception 20 years ago, I watched Melrose Place..I never thought he was THIS BAD - or was too young to realize it. I expect him to de-thrown Genie 12 months from now. Unless he's Shit Canned first..........
3) Julia P. Michell is now a prop. Until Neil Hooks up with The Poor Girl's Dru, she'll be rolling her eyes along with the rest of us.
4) Genie: I'll only say this. I did NOT scratch MY head when she came to Y&R. Why WOULDN'T SHE? The most watched Drama, or a Network with one soap left, that'll be axed by spring? Plus, there's the recycled saga in Port Charles. Shoot kid in head, Kidnapped baby, Sonny's long lost offspring apprives, wash, rinse, repeat. Oh, and let Genie Francis go, or talk shit about her if she leaves. It's the Brian Fronz Clause, I'll presume.
5) I kinda miss the Biggest Baffon of All. Cameron Matheson, hope you're well...till then, we all have Yvonne Zima........
