Charles Barkley "Upset" All My Children Was Axed

Even athletes are feeling the loss of soaps. NBA great Charles Barkley stopped by Conan last night and revealed how upset he is that All My Children was cancelled. Barkley told O'Brien about his love for Erica Kane (Susan Lucci), Tad "The Cad"  Martin (Michael E. Knight) and how dedicated he was to watching the sudser in college. I remember reading several years ago that athletes who spend a lot of time on the road or working out at the gym love their soaps! Athletes first start watching soaps because of a loved one and it carries on once they become professionals in their field.

It's true about athletes. A lot of them love the soaps. Red Sox left fielder Jim Rice mentioned his "favorite soap opera The Young and the Restless" during his Hall of Fame acceptance speech!

Thanks to Charles Barkley for speaking out! I think they would be surprised at how many men and people from all walks of life watch the soaps! Soaps transcend sex, age and socioeconomic status! Such a travesty that OLTL is being cancelled and AMC went by the wayside.
