Nathan is a talented actor, but I can handle his departure from the canvas. I am sure he will have successful future.
I have always liked Nathan. He reminds me of a better-looking/groomed version of Robert Pattinson. He knows how to act, but his writing has always been horrendous. Pairing him with Maya was a disaster and having him play Luke's "bastard" child that was conceived while he CHEATED on his "true love," Laura, didn't make it any easier for long-term viewers to empathize with him.
But he's young and he's got time on his side, so I am sure he'll resurface somewhere soon!
Okay, well, bye. Won't be long before he finds another gig, I'm sure. Granted, I had grown to have an affinity for him, but at this rate, with both JJ and KmC leaving, anyone else leaving doesn't shock me. And frankly, I just don't care anymore because GH seems to be going out of it's way to push people or help them find their way to the nearest exit by force or through shitty storylines.
I think he's a good actor but his character never should have stayed on the show for more than a few months.
Hopefully another soap will pick him and and treat him a whole lot better than GH ever did.
I've always liked Nathan and Ethan, the writers didn't knew do him any favors particularly making Luke's son instead of Robert's like it should've been. Maybe it will be changed before he leaves.
I wish Nathan all the best, I'm sure it won't long before he gets another gig. He's got the whole package.
When he first came on the canvas as Ethan I disliked the storyline because it was one of the first long hard slaps to the face of the longtime Luke and Laura fans, but once they got away from the Holly storyline that introduced him, and away from that god awful Rebecca/long lost Emily's twin storyline... well I found I really liked him, especially his good friendship with Johnny and the start of something with Kristina. Then they got rid of LA, so the Kristina story was gone, and they completely removed him from Johnny's orbit, and only paired him up with Luke and Lucky, and that was the end of anything interesting from Ethan. I wish him all the luck in whatever he does next.
Ethan should've been Robert's son from the beginning, not Luke's. The way his paternity was revealed made it difficult for die-hard L&L fans to like him, due to the fact that Luke cheated on Laura to produce him. That said, over time I grew to like him, but I was looking forward to a long romance between Ethan and Kristina (since LA was let go, that obviously wasn't happening).
There have been so many missed opportunities on GH over the past 10 years, like making Sam Robert and Alexis's daughter (which would've made her Robin's half sister), making Lucy Coe Spinelli's mother, which always seemed to make so much sense to me. Honestly, Ethan never really had a story of his own, so I wouldn't blame NP for leaving. The Kristina/Ethan potential pairing had years worth of storyline potential, but it was never developed properly, with TPTB writing some truly horrific material for Kristina, as well (honestly, how could anyone take a possible pairing seriously when Guza kept writing her as such an immature child without letting her grow and mature?)
Oh well, at this point I just don't see GH lasting for more than another year anyway. I haven't watched regularly in months, although I started watching a few days ago mainly to watch the Robin/Patrick story (although I hate where it's going). Once Kim McC leaves, I might be done with GH for good, unless RC and FV can bring some joy back to the show, because right now it is depressing as all hell
Good riddance. Didnt like the character or actor. He never impressed me and was only kept due to TG. Good luck to him
Yup, Mipeony. What you said. I'll miss him, but I'm not surprised to see him go.
I'm going to miss him. It's a shame that JJ, KMc, and now NP are leaving before Carlavati and company can come in and salvage what is left of GH. I do feel bad that he never really had a decent story, I would have liked to see in what direction GH would have gone, with the three talented actors that I have mentioned.
Based on the terrible writing for most of the characters on OLTL, I'd say the actors wouldn't see a big change if they stayed. Maybe less dourness and more in-jokes.
I agree making Ethan a Spencer was a bad idea. They only did this so they could spit on the family one more time. Like they even need a reason to do this.
The least they can do is make him a Scorpio before he leaves Port Charles.
Sad to see that sexy sweetie go but best of luck to him.
And GH continues its push and pull with its fans. We start in with this characters first real story line (OK it was a dreadful story at best) but then we have the actor exit. It's hard to believe that anyone is in charge at this show. It's like a group of people are throwing darts at a board to see which ones stick.
I fear there isn't enough time to turn this show around, especially when we are getting an EP and HW with zero history with the show.
Will the Spencers go the way of the Q's and be killed off or put on the back burner?
There will be no core families left, as I refuse to accept serial killer and impregnator Sonny and his offspring as any kind of family.
I wish GH would take a cue from the DAYS executives who issued a statement about the show returning to its roots. I do not watch DAYS but I felt it was a classy move to acknowledge past mistakes and to move forward with a show that long time fans will want to watch.
Lately, the only word we get from GH is pointless re-casts, exits and the arrival of needless new doctors.
The Spencers, like the Q's, should be at the show's forefront for its remaining days on TV. It's a shame that it appears that won't happen.
When the Spencers are at the forefront, their stories are:
- women are needy, worthless leeches who have absolutely no self-control (Laura, Liz, Lulu)
- everyone in the family is an addict
- everyone in the family abandons their children, or kills them, and this is "liberating"
- the entire family is based on the delusion of a pathetic woman (Laura) and should never be together.
@ Carol2--don't hold back. LOL
I agree with 90% of what you say if we are talking about the JFP's version of the Spencers. I do not agree if we are talking about the Spencers prior to that. Bobbie might have been needy at times but she certainly grew into a woman of strength even as she faced tragedy. Laura (upon her return in the 90's) grew up under the writing of Claire Labine and took on causes such as environment racism while still running from the mob. Sadly, Laura became the helpless victim after Wendy Riche left the show and was replaced by JFP. Liz, only a Spencer by marriage, suffered a similar fate with the sexist direction of JFP and Looza Guza.
And need we forget Carly. When played by SB and with half way decent writing, Carly was a true Spencer: back-stabbing, conning but with an almost likable vulnerability and certainly strong. But as Carly became the female lead of the show and began her long infatuation with mobsters and serial killers, her strength was replaced with a bull dozer mentality, her connection to her Spencer family as unimportant as whatever person she had to run over to get her way.
So perhaps I'm mushy for old times that will never return but I sure would like the Spencer family to go out on top. After all GH was never the same once Bobbie Spencer and her brother Luke stormed GH in the late 70's.
I love the idea of the Spencers of old returning. I don't think it will happen, even without JFP or Guza, because Geary hated that time and he seems to hate any happiness for Luke, and Frank and Ron don't have a family vibe on OLTL, and most of the Spencers are gone.
I wanted them to do more with Carly and the family for a long time. Unfortunately it never seemed to happen.
Since GH is ending, it doesn't really matter to me.
I agree he and Kristina had potential but the folks at GH were determined to make her consistently appear like she was a junior high student instead of a young woman entering college. I have said it once and I"ll say it again, the way Krissy and Ethan were written proves to me GH is on its way out and has no interest in reviving itself. There was oodles of potential here to bring the Spencers, Corinthos, Davis', Q's, Zaccharas and Cassadines all into one big great adventure by building a love story for these two where all these families got pulled into the adventure because of their ties with each other. It could've been epic and ended with a big beautiful white wedding like Luke and Laura but instead chose to write it all wrong!! I am not surprised Nathan wants to leave. I would be surprised if Lexi wanted to return even if asked after how she was fired. (I still can't believe they had her read her own termination announcement and never made any statement whatsoever about it-I will never forgive GH for doing this and is one of the reasons I have quit watching)If the new EP is smart he will get on his knees and beg Lexi to return and Nathan to stay and do their story right! If he does, I will start watching again.
