I was just thinking that David, which is probably why he doesn't want to write for GH. I know he and Frank have had their misses, but they're part of the reasons why OLTL has seen this latest ratings surge. And they're both hotties, yeah I said it!!

Mixed feelings, I LOVE Ron at OLTL LOVE. But I would also like to see his vision for GH--and god knows WE NEED HIM OVER THERE!!

RC has proven he can write well for OLTL especially without ABC's interference. I think it would be great to have him continue because as we've seen in the past it could always be worse (Dena Higley!!!)

My issue with RC is he doesn't "get" certain characters and has allowed them to become very different - take Blair, Dorian, Nora, Tina, David Vickers, and quite possibly Todd.

I hope this turns out to be true. I have a couple of issues with Ron's writing, but overall he's good for OLTL. Plus, like others have said, I want to see what he can do without having Frons micromanaging him.

I think this is a much better outcome than him going to GH. I don't think GH would or could use him right. I also think that, with OLTL going gangbusters lately, now's not the time to change horses midstream.

I am VERY happy if RC follows OLTL on line as this is giving huge signals to all of us OLTL fans that both the writers and actors are willing to try to give us the OLTL we loved on ABC. And OLTL has been soooo good in the past year. I just hope TSJ would come back and then it would be just perfect...

But GH is going down VERY fast. And GW is just writing GH the Guza way with Sonny/Dante/Jason running the show and women being weaker than ever... The show is pathetic and it would desperately need a BIG change, the return of romance and of strong women as RC proved to us he knows how to write (Victor and Tea reuniting after he thought she was dead was the most romantic and emotional scene I have seen for years on a soap...).

Anyway, even if RC goes in December to GH, I don't think he would have the time to save the sinking ship... so I'd better keep him at OLTL

I hope he stays. Besides they will not give him much say at gh. The only way GH will be saved is if they get rid of Sonny/Jason and go back to hospital relationships like the concept of original show.

If Days rebounds, I would say gh should go for it right now. But RC is better to stay where he is. They just don't want someone else to hire him. This Garin guy is writing the same way Guza did.

One more thing is that longtime fans have got to be more open to good stories. Saying characters don't do this or that is part of what the networks and advertisers don't want to deal with. I am sorry if I was guilty of this with GL back in the day. I know the vision should stay basically the same but I would lighten up on nonsense especially if a show is riveting every day. Just sayin......

GH is done for. Show me someone who believes that GH has a snowball's chance in hell of continuing on ABC after fall of next year and I'll show you someone who believes in fairies.

They got rid of Guza as a way to quiet fans down after the huge negative fallout from cancelling both OLTL and AMC at the same time. ABC wants out of the soap business, which is why the Wolf in sheep's clothing hasn't really changed a thing about the show being a loveletter to mobsters.

I don't think RC is a great writer but I do like his pacing and how he intertwines the canvas. GH is too far gone. Sadly there is no Lorraine Broderick for GH who has a successful history of writing this show as it should be. Claire Labine maybe. Even McTavish perhaps but they'd need a strong EP and they dont care about that. I think with Broderick at AMC at RC at OLTL over at PP these shows have some chance of being successful. There isn't anyone at GH IMO or anyone out there who has the same love and passion for GH that these people and Agnes Nixon do,

This is great news. I enjoy Ron's writing, even those stories that aren't my favorite keep me entertained and he seems to right himself quickly and cut losses when something isn't working.

I think there is a correlary to the disliking newbies, even though every character or family at one point was a newbie. It's thinking that a show is firing at 100% all the time writing-wise. I think there is always going to be some story that isn't the most enthralling. Can there be a soap that satisfies a soap fan completely? It's in constant motion, so even if that happens it may be just completely great for a week.

I have a fondness for ABC soaps from the early to mid-90's (Labine on GH, Malone on OLTL, and (yes) McTavish on AMC). I felt that is when it was just on and can't miss for me. Now I remember all the storylines and characters that I loved, but time has erased the things I probably detested. I constantly compare now to what I remember then.

I hope that OLTL also gets the AMC treatment in January and we can have a special People magazine and episode of The View. Part of me thinks not. It never hit the zeitgeist.

I don't think RC does a good job with women, he can't write for Jessica so she's a teen, she's Tess, she's Wes and on and on, Viki spent long stretches on the backburner and then all of sudden Charlie cheats with and falls in love with Echo, who was more of an outline than a character, yet she took away Roxy's screentime until they were paired tracking a beaver?, Dorian could only be paired with the more and more clownish David Vickers and Natalie is always either breaking up with or mooning over John because even though they don't work together they don't work with anyone else so let's keep trying regardless of how many characters have to be decimated: hello Marty or killed off: goodbye Jared. As for Blair, I read a list of her pairings and dang, she has been with a lot of men, even for a soap and Tea, she was once a great character but her relationship with TSJTodd made her look like an idiot. I think it is very obvious who the Frons "pets" are on the various ABC soaps since they get pushed down our throats and always come out on top. Here's hoping that RC fixes that "pet" problem since he will no longer having Frons pissing on his shoes.

If GH were to make the move to the web, GH could be good again if Wendy Riche were brought back as EP and Claire Labine were brought back as head writer. You nailed the assessment of RC's writing and while he does excel at daily dialogue, his stories have been awful and his character-assassination rivals anything from Bob Guza at GH.

Hmmm. I think GHfan-4now indicated in one of her posts that Michael Malone planned on putting Todd and Marty together after the rape while RH and SH said no. I wonder if SH had any idea that RC was going to pen the Todd and Marty s/l that MM wanted to write years ago and either didn't care or since the actor was TSJ and not RH maybe she didn't have a problem with the story. I hate rape stories unless the rapist ends up in prison or dead. Ford should be in prison by now and not bonding with Jessica...Gross!

It truly irritates me when the original actor is back on a soap (RH and JJ) that the shows writers start writing the characters the way they were before the replacement actor took over their roles. I just think it is a slap in the face to the replacement actors that the characters that they portrayed were being written out of character, but once the original actor comes back we soap fans point out that character Todd#1 or Lucky#1 would have never done "so and so".

Was hoping Prospect Park would mine some of the seriously talented soap writers out there (or perhaps give some new ones a chance) instead of giving employment to the mediocre hacks at ABC. Glad he's not coming to GH. GH needs a BIG change but Mr. C. is not it. I'm glad for the OLTL fans who enjoy his writing but this genre needs more than the "ooops I thought I was dead but am coming back to life to find someone else living my life" stories.

Really sad that Prospect Park is not trying to approach this genre with some innovation. Was hoping they would.

But we'll see what Mr. C can do when he's out from under the control of Frons. Maybe he'll do better...

I would be very happy with him being the HW. I heard that Lorraine was supposed to be the HW too which I would be happy with. I am sure many people remember she and Chris Whitesell were HW'S (Jan 2001-Jan 2003) with Gary Tomlin as EP and they won a Best Show Emmy. It was the period when they did the live week. Michael Malone replaced them.

I would like either but it would be nice for Ron to stay on his show and Lorraine to stay with AMC with the divine Agnes Nixon giving her fabulous, invaluable, and desired 2 cents.

Read them all, and post #18 summed it up quite nicely. I was looking forward to actually having a fresh writers for OLTL. This Todd vs. Victor vs. Irene and microchips, God help us all if it is implanted on Todd or anyone for that matter. The story of Stacy is not moving me to tears or excitement as manic Rex walking around see dead people...JPL is not having fun with this story and it shows in his performance. He runs hot or cold.

I wanted diversity put back into OLTL. Growing up OLTL was always known for their timely diversity issues. I would love Agnes to give some lovin' to OLTL for the relaunch of the TOLN. Bring back Evangeline being a pain in the ass for Natalie, Natalie feeling inferior to a smart, beautiful, career woman coming after John. Kish with custody issues about gay parents, Antonio, Chris, and since Ron is going all micro-chip,return of dead style then damn go their let the big HUGE SECRET be startling.....Meredith LIVES! she's been a coma and Irene had her at Campy Snoopy. Vicki's true sister with the Lord heirs and Lord heiresses. It could completely change the foundation with a true siblings on canvas for Vicki. This Irene BS, I hate it already and I know it's just starting but......

Ugh, this is only good news if he goes back to writting the way he did pre- the 2007 writters strike. He was excellent his first six months on the show. Very uneven the last 3 years, I too was holding out for new blood!
