Regis and Kelly Publicist: "I'm Glad The Soaps Are Over"

While we have no issue with Forgione voicing her approval of The Chew, was it really necessary to slam soaps, considering they're the very entertainment medium daytime television was built upon? I don't remember reading any stories about all those talk shows and/or reality shows that made the jump from radio to TV, or that financed primetime television development for decades.
Talk about kicking soap fans when they're down. Live With Regis and Kelly's PR rep Brittany Forgione rejoiced on Twitter about how happy she is All My Children was replaced by The Chew. The publicist tweeted:
Watching @TheChew right now on ABC. Looking good...and yummy. I'm glad the soaps are over.

We're used to publicists associated with ABC Daytime not being the brightest bunch, but does Forgione realize there are still two soaps currently airing on the lineup where her Disney syndicated series airs, soaps that employ hundreds of people and entertain millions of viewers daily? Oh yeah, and saving the obvious for last, did this nitwit think at all about the fact that the "Kelly" in Live With Regis and Kelly is a beloved alum of the very soap Forgione is so glad is "over"? Talk about Dirty Soap...

How ignorant can a publicist be? Maybe she should use her time to try and get better publicity for the show that employs her. Ratings for her employer have been going down slowly over the past year and once Regis leaves, I for one will not watch anymore. Maybe she can join the unemployed ranks of those who have worked in soaps for years. As far as the Chew, never watched it...never will. Same for Katie Couric's show.

Sorry but I cannot separate the pr person from Regis or Kelly. I am sure that they are glad also. I don't watch the show because Kelly gets on my last nerve but if I did watch the show, I would stop.
I would call this a blunder. Besides why are people happy about the downfall of a genre anyway. I know people that feel bad it is going and they do not watch any of the shows. They are just sad that a part of history is fading. Why be glad? That has me stumped...
ABC has terrible pr and leaders. They are all uncool. No class to abc. It is all Disney.
Of course, I think cbs was just as cold blooded over gl/atwts. They must be enjoying the flack abc is getting. They are playing the sympathetic card a lot these days. I still do not buy it from them either.
Look out networks cable and online viewing is going to take your viewers one by one.
