TV Guide Magazine: So what did happen? Why did the leading lady on the No. 1 soap suddenly vanish?Thomas Scott: That's a tough question. I can't pretend to know for sure, being the victim here. Sony would have to tell you, which they won't.
TV Guide Magazine: You're not getting off that easy! Do you believe this was financial?
Thomas Scott: Yes, I do but it was not handled very well. I've been in this business since I was three and I know how this works. If a show is having problems with money or budget they call the actor very respectfully and say, "We have a little financial crunch here. Let's try to work something out, okay?" That's what should have happened. The problem was that such a phone call was never made to me and I was left in the lurch. Had they picked up the phone back in March or April and just said two or three sentences to me, none of this would have happened. But nobody said anything, and that started to get a little odd after a couple of weeks of not working. I would call in for my shooting schedule as I usually do and be told, "You have another week off." And this kept happening week after week after week. Then the fans started paying attention to all this and were asking me, "Are you leaving the show?" I had no idea what to say or why I wasn't working. Then all hell seemed to break lose. People were saying I had asked for a leave of absence. False. They were saying, "Oh, Melody, wants to spend time with her new grandbaby twins." False. [Laughs] Well, of course I do want to spend time with them but I would never quit my job over it! Then, when Twitter got hold of this, it became a huge international situation. I owe my return to the fans. Without Twitter, I don't know that I would be coming back. I really attribute it to that. It's pretty amazing. Social networking, baby!

Dianes lame murder is still not resolved, Katherine is still not herself, Victor still gets away with everything, Jill is still an idiot, Genie F is still around, Lily & Cane still suck & are "endgame".

Well, this is definitely a start to what one can hope means a more watchable soap. Now if we could just "clean house" behind the camera lens, this would be all I'd ask for for Christmas this year. Wonder if Twitter/fans could also successfully campaign to bring back Jack Smith or any other decent writer for that matter...nevertheless, welcome home, Nikki/Melody!

Oh Happy Day! I have no idea how to hit my "dougie", so I'll just drop it like it's hot then do the cabbage patch.
This does not solve all of Y&R's problems, but this is a step in the right direction. I believe every single thing MTS says about how these bastids at Sony tried to give her the okey-doke. I never for a second believed the whisper campaign these fools tried to start via their errand boy Nelson Branco (sorry I had to conjure up that name, but I'm in a "calling people out" kind of mood. I'll make sure not to utter it 2 more times - lol!). Why the hell should I believe the word of some upstart idiots in charge at the fledgling SONY over the word of a woman who has devoted over 30 years to this show? I don't know them fools from "Adam", but MTS' dedication to Y&R speaks for itself.I especially resent how they tried to pimp the birth of her grandchildren as a cover for their shady machinations! That's super low.
Onto more pleasant things. So glad to see Ms Scott acknowledge that Nikki has been a slave to Victor and that crap aint right. I really hope this can be the beginning of a new era for Nikki.
If this crap really had nothing to do with MAB or the Bells as a production company, they (the Bells) need to make like Victor Newman and make moves to get Sony far, far away from Bill Bell's legacy. Then they need to renegotiate with CBS so that it's crystal clear that the Barbara Bloom "micromanagement" era of their partnership is over. If B&B can have international success between the Bells and CBS without a SONY-like relationship mucking things up, then IMO Y&R can endure without SONY. I admit I don't know or fully understand the partnership between the Bells, CBS, and Sony, but Sony is a failing company across the board. How much does Y&R really need them anyway?

Firing all the characters that are not working and rehiring Melody Scott is not going to fix the bleed out ratings. The actors that are losing their job were not the problem, they were the symptom. Yes they are being delivered up to the audience as the sacrificial lamb and Melody is the second coming of the messiah. Well that don't fix the problem. The problem is a room full of dumb blonds and Hogan Sheffer trying to write the gold standard of daytime tv. Fix that problem and the ratings will return. Let's see if a little social networking can cost an entire writing staff their jobs!

Unless her return is pivotal to the Diane Jenkins story line, I remain under-impressed by her performance. The character is shrill, annoying, and frankly stupid. I'm sure MTS is a fine actress, but Genoa City is heavy with great performers. Frankly, I'm tired of Victor Newman never getting his comeuppance, and MTS as Nikki Newman ensures that he never will, so long as she is the prize.

This is great news to wake up to on a rainy Thursday!! Thank sweet Jesus, for small miracles. Now Sony keep going fire the writers and a few more newbies and do a reset.
PS: I still will not watch until the MAB & Cronies are gone and turn Y&R back into Y&R, there are starts with the firings and bringing back MTS is huge...but the writing has to go because that a big problem with the show.

@matealestlmo Your welcome ! @WroteLazarus Actually,in the Logan interview, MTS stated..."If Nikki was just going to be serving tea and being Victor's slave I wouldn't want to come back for that." Additionally, MTS also conjectured in the Logan interview that Victor is "emotionally abusive" to Niki. Hence, the "Niktor" relationship and Nikki as a stand-alone character will no longer be written in the guises that we have become overwhelmingly familiar with.
