These are steps in the right direction. All are good moves.

I agree these are all good moves, but Sam was SOOOOO sweet! Hopefully he works his way into stories with Sharon from time to time. But keep on cutting the fat Y&R.

Does anyone else think Noah needs to get off of the backburner, and spice up some scenes with Eden, still waiting for that one!!!

Now for the writing which is a major problem. Some of these characters I liked however if the writing isn't there what good is it?

As long as this fashion consultant who thinks she's a writer is in charge of this show, it will forever be on a see-saw.

My sympathies to the actors and their families. The actors simply were not given material worthy of their talent.

Not happy about TR. Colin and Jill were fantastic.

I gotta say, I'm happy to see SPF, ER and DM gone. They were not a writing problem but rather an instance of actors just not clicking with the roles.

I've disliked the recasts of Malcolm and Heather more than any other I can imagine, save maybe that awful recast Marty on OLTL from a few years ago.

I think ER is talented but this role was doing her no favors. She went from being a soap star to being called the worst recast of the year. She just didn't fit the role and can do better somewhere else (though I also agree the writing for Heather didn't do the character/actress any favors either).

What a waste of Tristan Rogers. He was good with Jess Walton, and was a nice change from the mumbling thug known as Victor, or comatose Tucker. He is paying the price for the belly flop of the Canestipation return/Genie Gone Wild.

There are so many actors whose characters have been ruined by the writing - even people who have been on the show for decades. It's harder to know who to keep than who to fire.

I will say that I really would like to say goodbye to Jeff Branson, Liz Hendrickson, and Greg Rikkart.

I welcome the decisions ... but the way Eden Riegel, according to her twitter, must have found out that she's out of a job is horrible!!!

All these firings and yet Cane is still allowed to wander Genoa City like a lost dog after Lily.....not to mention a lack of MTS!

Can't say I'm surprised about any of them, except TR, bc he & JW were giving it their all in this crap story they've been given.

And while I am no fan of ER's Heather, if she truly found out via Twitter (which I totally believe she did) that she was being let go, then that's just shitty and low on the part of the Y&R bosses. At least have some tact and tell these people face to face; they DO have families and such to support.

Yeah, ER apparently found out she was fired via Twitter. While I'm very much happy I will not have to endure her version of Heather on my screen anymore, that was an incredibly shitty way for Y&R to handle it.

Maybe it was some kind of leak they didn't intend but they need to run a tighter ship and tell the actors before this kind of news even has a chance to get out.

Geeze...Y&R truly can't do anything right these days--not even fire actors/character that the audience wants gone.

I didn't really mind Eden as Heather. I know I'm in the minority but the character is dead weight especially with them hiring 20 attorneys this year alone.

They still have at least 10 more that could go....

With one exception I'm fine with that list of Bell's hit and miss casting style. Tristan Rogers was the one reason to come back to daytime. Colin and Jill was feel good TV and even their drama was meaningful and memorable. The rest of them, meh.

Genie Francis could have added so much and help create a solid Atkinson family presence. Between Tristan, Genie and Daniel Goddard (and Jill of course) this family could have had fantastic stories, like MAB said. But she didn't come through, and she has done a terrible thing to GF by writing her so crazy. Didn't make GF look good at all. This is a terrible thing for fans who have missed Tristan and were so very happy to come over to Y&R from GH. What are they smokin over at Y&R at the exec table? Big Fail there MAB! I'll be gone when TR is gone.

There was never a character for Heather. There should have been one, with her history with Paul, but they never tried. All she's done is sleep around and get abuse from Victor.

Although this is all good news (I don't mind Tristan except the fact that his character is a thug.), these horribly miscast or nonstarting characters are gone,it does not adress the root of the problem. The writing. I have no more interest right now in what Jack or Mrs C is doing any more than I care about Genevieve. Because these people are just being wasted on this show. Maybe it will take the loss of some heavy hitters on the show to wake the corporation up. Apparently sliding in the ratings isn't good enough.

Eden posted on twitter, "reports of my death are greatly exaggerated", she then went on to say "oops. I take it back. Apparently my run on Y&R is soon coming to an end. It was a fun ride!" If they are going to get rid of her character, why cant they just send her out of town indefinitely? It seems as if someone is always dying on this show!

And please god, dont let this be a murder followed by a ridiculous investigation and long drawn out court case. This show has been in criminal overload the past few years....

YES! That means GW can take a shot at bringing Genie home on GH and maybe Tristan too.

The main problem with Y&R is that they haven't found the right team in place to fill the immense void Bill Bell left. They should at least hire back a few of the people who understood his vision of the soap, namely Ed Scott and Kay Alden.

And not just Maria needs to be out. Sheffer and Hamner need to be out, too. Agree with a lot of other comments, bring back Kay Alden and I would say Ed Scott, but with the way they've done MTS would he even bother with Y&R?

i'm not really sad or mad about these firing. they were all dead-weight and slowed down the show and took time away from actors much more deserving.

hopefully this is the first in a series of cast-cuts and focus the show on a the core families/characters.
