Village Voice Lists Young and Restless Actor Michael Fairman Among "Top 25 People Crippling Scientology"

The Village Voice is once again going after the controversial-yet-celeb friendly religion of Scientology, and lo and behold a soaper has been mentioned among the indie pub's list of The Top 25 People Crippling Scientology!

Michael Fairman is a very familiar face from television and film. The character actor has portrayed villains in productions like the Firefly series, the "Penske" business man in Seinfeld, and for years was a member of the The Young and the Restless cast. He was also a longtime Scientologist, but he not only recently left the church, in a rare move he made public his "suppressive person declare" which listed his "crimes." He's now speaking out in a big way, and continues to shake things up at Marty Rathbun's blog.

You may recall, Fairman, who plays Kay Chancellor's (Jeanne Cooper) latest husband Murphy on CBS Daytime'sThe Young and the Restless, told the Village Voice that a Y&R costar—who happens to be a practicing Scientologist—allegedly told him, "you have an enemy at work" when he first started speaking out about the religion. Xenu have mercy. HBO needs to turn this mess into a series. It could be the next Big Love!

Would that co-star (or the "enemy at work") happen to be the person I like to call not so affectionately The Staff Infection?

Inquiring minds want to know.

Well it's still very sad that he get's threaten at work and that this co-star is still employed there, enjoys so much public attention and has a big amount of fans out there.
It's just shameful to disrespect a person in that way. It's not like Fairman would have ever gone to that co-star and told her that she has an enemy at work because of her religious beliefs. It's inappropriate but just her style as far as we know her and her getting along with a former co-star.

Gotta love that Michelle "BLEEPING" Stafford, going around threatening and intimidating ANYONE who dares upstage or disagree with her.

I don't know much about Scientology, and I have nothing against it, but I do have something against self-entitled heifers like Stafford, who think the world revolves around them.

Anyone who is willing to blow holes in that money-grubbing cult is okay in my book. Hope Mr. Fairman and his love ones are safe.

Sharon Case is also a $cieno. It could be her, Michelle Stafford, or both.

... keep crippling away Mr. Fairman!
By the way, you worked with Ryan Kwanten ... do you think you could talk him into doing a nice little Y&R stint that would annoy the likes of Michele Bachmann?

Freedom of Speech and Association very important whoever is saying this to Michael at work needs to go over the democratic rights every American has to those. How very very inappropriate to do this at a workplace and why it is not being dealt with by the powers at be good golly anywhere else this person whould have been spoken to saying such things and let go if this kind of behaviour continued.

wouldn't freedom of speach also cover the coworker's comment?
I am not sure that your arguement although well intentioned, makes any sense.
People please give all your time and energy and money to whomever you please. If you feel the need to belong to this organization, more power to you. If you feel the need to rake it over the coals, I am sure you have your reasons. Actually though, I believe people are strong enough to decide for themselves what is good for them and what is worthwhile. If these people find purpose in Scientology, let them. It is not for me but who really cares? It is their lives to live and their money to spend. They must be getting something from it or they wouldn't belong to it.

If they're finding such great purpose from that cult Scientology, why do they feel the need to harass anyone who speaks out against the "church"? Show how great Scientology is by its actions, don't try to tear anyone who gets away from the church down with smear campaigns (and rumoredly worse).

I absolutely agree. I'm fine with people believing whatever they want to believe, but when they make it their life's mission to apply their "fair game" tactics to anyone they deem a "suppressive person" (i.e. Anyone who speaks out against their so-called religion), then they're taking it too far. Especially when their tactics have included framing people for crimes they didn't commit, getting them fired from jobs by spreading horrible stories, etc etc etc.

Google "Bare-Faced Messiah", a biography about L. Ron Hubbard, I read the entire thing one weekend, the whole text is online as the book is now out of print. It's pretty interesting reading....

... tedew barely escaped the Scientologists when they dragged him into their "offices" in 1980 during a fun trip to Portland Oregon and tried to give him one of their infamous "personality" tests; but he left instead.

Nothing wrong with just being a Scientologist but it's not cool when the followers (from anywhere) try to force their ideals on you.

(Of course tedew still thinks Michelle Stafford is always dressing like she's ready to jump into the nearest volcano for L. Ron Hubbard.)

(... also, is Mrs. Murphy going to be widowed by Mr. Murphy's fishing trip?)

So I to take it that the ex scientologists never participated in those kinds of behaviors when they were members. Ofcourse they did. It only became unacceptable behavior to them when it happened to them. Scientology will crash and burn when people A) stop putting money into it, B) stop finding it satisfying. If people from outside the "religion" were being harassed, call the police. Ya know that the Catholic church condemns it's former members to hell...

I think Scientology is a creepy cult and I always hate finding out an actor or actress I like is a Scientologist but....Michelle "Bleeping" Stafford is not the only Scientologist on Y&R.

Sharon Case is a Scientologist as well so it could have been her that MF has referred to.

No Renegade_Killerbee ... the one I'm think of is Dead Silence (2007).
(You are thinking of the Oscar nominated Richard Farnsworth in that movie.)
