Y&R Has Major Storylines in The Works For Genie Francis' Genevieve

Worried the filming of another The Note movie for Hallmark Channel will keep Genie Francis away from The Young and the Restless for too long? Never fear, Soaps in Depth has this assurance from a Y&R spokesperson,
“the actress not only will be back, but there's some major storylines coming up as Genevieve becomes even more woven into the fabric of Genoa City.”
I wonder what Genevieve will do next?

UGH! This isn't great news to hear for me. It means she will hog screen time away from important long time characters (we fans won't see Nikki anytime soon, it will be for Victor & Jack fighting over her probably)and have to go through a dismal story coming from MAB yet again. Maria' GH 2.0. This is sickening how Y&R has fallen.

BORING!!!! Y&R should stop bringing in these big names from other shows. Hasn't done anything good to the show. MAB and her team should finally start to write for the people they already have. And should start by writing them right again.
It's horrible what has become to people like Sharon, Billy or the latest writing victim Katherine. Their behavior is just painful to watch.
And to that come people like Adam and Victor who acting just incredible insane and cruel. These characters have no human qualities at some days. And right in to this category fits Genevieve. She's acting so fake it makes me turn the TV off.

Ms Francis has been way over the top on Y&R. It's like a cartoon character gone wrong. Frankly, her character is both stupid and boring. It only shows how mismanaged the show is. MAB puts this crap forward and dumps Maura West, who was fantastic in a role that wasn't suited for her, but made it hers before she got fired. Just because MAB didn't like MW shouldn't mean the viewers should suffer.
Pull the plug on Genevieve ASAP. Frankly, who gives a damn?

Agree that Maura West was finally figuring out what planet she was on just before she became a bloated, white corpse in a cute green dress. (By the way, Maura-West-as-floater was the most graphic thing I've ever seen on daytime.)
I am going against the grain to say that I enjoyed the beginning of Genie Francis's character on Y&R, but since she's not interacting with Tristan it's not as fun. He seemed to be able to make their scenes fun; Francis hasn't sparked with Jack so far and the scenes with her and the idiot Newman sisters were just painful.

Genevieve is NOT the character that Y&R needs to be focused on. As much as I love Genie Francis and am enjoying her performances, this show has BIGGER fish to fry!!
And I have NO desire to see her become a show hog on a show where she TECHNICALLY doesn't even really belong. They need to save their time and energy on trying to get Melody Thomas Scott and other backburnered actresses back into the fold.

as Diane, when she should have been brought on as a younger character.

I actually like the character of Genevieve but Y&R is a mess right now as a whole. This latest whodunit is awful and yet another reminder of how limited MAB and Sheffer are creatively. I'm having a real hard time sitting through complete episodes. MAB has managed to turn everyone in Genoa City into a criminal compromising the integrity of this show at every turn. She and Sheffer should be ashamed as writers of what they are putting out there.

How? By un-weaving the long time characters and cast members out?
What happened to the last newcomer Colin and his relationship with original Y&R character Jill? That was called weaving in a new character, until that halted and someone could be hired that just replaced Y&R characters all together.
After 40 years Jill is reduced to opening the door for recurring characters like Nina, and welcoming and being props for the new ones. Billy, Tucker,Colin, and now Genevieve use her as springboard upon entry and disappear from her life. Her family, relationships, career, and life she led has all given to others.

I hear that G is going to be the REAL daughter of Mrs. C. in yet another of MAB's retcons. She has known she was her daughter all along but decided to fake everyone out because she was ashamed of being the straight daughter of an alcoholic. Tucker has been covering for his secret lover all along by using her blood samples to pass himself off as the C heir and ingrain himself in C industries. So Cane, who is back from the dead, and was acting as Jills son and Mrs C's grandson (as Jills REAL son returned from the dead after Jill found out she was not Mrs C's REAL daughter)is now, ironicly, Mrs C's REAL grandson.
JK, how extremely difficult is this crap to write? This is why I don't watch anymore and soaps are dying. Thought provoking, topical, interesting stories are few and between.

Y&R has a marvelous stable full of underused thoroughbreds that need to be seen on the racetrack again and one that should be retired because she's been eating a bit too much straw lately. Get those gates open and the other one shut then maybe Y&R could find itself back on track again.

@apollo: I don't know where you heard that, but that would really work in MAB's story book. I wouldn't wonder that's the story the fall will be about. Even though they are desperately trying to form a mother/son rivalry between Katherine and Tucker.
So that would make con artist Cane a Chancellor after all!?!?!? That would be disgusting! But that what this show has become these days. Disgusting.
Ed Scott, Kay Alden ... if you guys are bored over at B&B, please go across the hall and teach these people some lessons in making a good soap opera. Such a bloody shame what MAB is doing to her father-in-law's show.

Actually I like that scenario much better, IF Colin remains Cane's father. TR brings out the best in DG. Katherine/Tucker don't feel like mother and son and they are not good together bonding or fighting a de-Chancelloring would benefit BOTH ASAP.
I think Colin and the three Chancellor women Katherine, Jill, & Genevieve is a winner if she is going to stay.
I suppose secret lover would mean the beautiful dead Samantha Genevieve was grieving was Tucker's?

I just don't see what Genie has to do with characters they don't show anyway...Geniveve "nor Niki" has been on nor Neil, Nina just came back I mean these people just aren't being used period...Genie has nothing to do with that. I'm waiting for Sofia and Malcome WTD storyline to move along since I started watching it.
If it wouldn't be Genevieve it would be someone else that's left up to MAB Head writer Exc. Producer.... I'm trying to figure out where Colin disappeared to.
As for not having business being on Y/R sure she does they offerred her a job she accepted....business enough...I think its ridiculous to determine who belongs where on a soap opera if that's the case then half of characters on the soaps that are left don't "belong there."You write a good story and as soon as I found out she'd be in that Cane sh. I knew it would not be...as for her acting choices...I didn't like all of them just like I don't like all of any actor's choice..
Genie sat around for "years" waiting for GH they said it is no audience for her character...now they want her back supposedly she's suppose to come running hell no so they can wait for her now...Jill Phellps is also a reason Genie didn't come back to GH it wasn't all Bob.

Lol, I was just kidding (JK)!!!!! But based on past story it is plausible that MAB would do that. Give me thoughtful and provoking stories that develop over time and respect the characters and I'll tune back in to Y&R. That and more Nina!

I have watched Y&R for over 30 years and what has been allowed to happen to this soap is criminal. I now DVR the program and fast forward through much of it. I cannot stand the character of Genevieve and Genie Francis' acting...at least in this role... is just horrible....and she has no chemistry with Jack...it is just painful to watch. Please bring back the core characters...and Nikki!! Everytime I see Francis, I feel as if they are trying to use her to replace Melody Thomas Scott .....which would be/is an epic failure. Where are the real Bell family members in all of this? What about Ed Scott....the show was great when he was there.
Please put the viewers out of their misery and give us back the Y&R of yesterday....and the characters that made the show number 1. Currently, it is just a horrendous mess.

YR Southern -- I agree with your post #29. TPTB really should go back to the drawing board. Frankly, both Genie Francis' and Maura West's performances have been high camp and indicative of B-grade acting. I had not seen MW, but others have commented that she was miscast and had previously done good work. GF had also done good work previously on GH.
