But seriously, I don't think that ANY of the major characters on this show would REALLY kill Diane, not even SyPhyllis or Adam. It will probably end up being someone completely random like Patty or Skye. It would be VERY juicy for it to be Kyle, and perhaps for them to SORAS him later on down the line, but I can't imagine that saccharin-looking little boy offing his mother.

Either way, I HATED Diane during her latest stint, so I certainly won't miss her.

Nothing. She's just creatively bankrupt, and has been since 2008. But GOODNESS were those shots of Diane in that water creepy. They gave me goosebumps, and that ain't easy!!

In TPTB's infinite wisdom, and to continue on their trend of bringing GREAT actresses into HORRIBLY written roles/recasts.........

The murderer is Genevieve! Even though she's only flirted with Jack a couple of times, she's fallen madly in love with him. This, of course, makes perfect sense since Jack Abbott's magic stick has driven more women into psychotic breaks than Nick Newman (only because he has a 20 year lead). While stalking from her usual spot in the bushes outside the Abbott livingroom window, Genevieve saw Diane gettin nekkid in a ridiculous effort to be a "family" with her ex, and then decided to kill her in the park, so she can have Ol' Smilin' Jack all to herself.

And in the interests of having phenomenal actresses trash their soap opera legacies in stinky plots.....the newly cast Debbie Morgan will come on as Genevieve's long-lost twin sister Gabriella, who had plastic surgery at thePatty/Sarah clinic to turn into a Black woman in order to escape the Aussie mob. Gabriella will come to save her sister and will end up falling in love with her great-nephew's grandaddy (Yay, Neill will finally get some tail!)

And, in a unique twist of fate....Diane's never-before-mentioned sister, Rebecca (played by the incomparable Kim Zimmer), and her lover Olivia (played to perfection by Erika Slezak) will bring a SORAS'd Kyle back to town from the Swiss boarding school that they've been running as a pair of closeted lesbian nuns....Rebecca will take one look at the crime scene photos and realize that this has been an imposter all along, since the dead woman who claimed to be Diane is young enough to be her daughter, and she will show a photograph of Fake Diane having a tea party in pigtails on the same date as Smilin' Jack's infamous tryst with Real Diane on his and Patty's wedding day 30 years ago!

SORAS'd Kyle will then fall in love with SORAS'd Ricky Williams (Paul and Isabella's hot Latin Lover son) when he hires the man-loving Jr. Detective to find the real Diane Jenkins.......

Oh, I forgot.....SORAS's Kyle and SORAS'd Ricky's budding love affair will soon become a triangle when cutie patootie lawyer Rafe gets involved

Okay, Okay, so maybe that's too unbelievable....two men of color in a same-sex storyline that taps into the show's core families and the history of the characters all at the same time! No way can THAT happen on daytime!!!!

I agree, Idylkng. I seriously never considered Genevieve as a suspect. It would make perfect sense as her as her role on the show. She's a short-term role and pyschotic. It makes sense. I would like for her to have a motive that makes sense, but then again this is MAB's writing regime we have here.

Well, I have to say though the whole enterprise with regards to Diane's "dispatch" has been cliched as hell, I've also found it highly enjoyable. And that camera shot in the water was indeed uber-creepy, though I think highly effective. So I'm on board with this....at least for now.

As a fairly newcomer to this website, I can't help but wonder at all the negativity aimed at the head writer( for The Young and the Restless. First off, in regard to the who killed Diane Jenkins story, whodunit's are spotted a state away, on every soap. How else to line up a wall of suspects? In that sense, I think MAB is being judged way too harshly. Add to that the fact the we have known for MONTHS that the very talented Maura West was being let go. Were Maura's talent's wasted? Without a DOUBT. MAB definitely jumped the shark on this one. Same I suspect with Genie Francis (though too early too tell). Soaps are on the endangered species list, for sure. On the other hand. The writer's HAVE surprised (at least me) us with some very good storytelling. Why else would we all be coming back? If half of you hated the show as much as you say you do, you would not be watching it. So what's with all the hate? Am I missing something? If so, please enlighten me. I have VERY much been enjoying Y&R. Is Y&R in the same caliber as it was in it's glory days when our dearly departed William Bell helmed the show? Clearly not. But the days of Bill Bell & Douglas Marland are gone. Unlike a lot of you, I have been enjoying the performances of EVERY actor on the show. I think they have doing a fantastic job. Of course, this is just my own humble opinion.

^I hate MAB because she has come up with the shittiest storylines ever. Silverchipmunk, Lauren/Sarah, and etc. While I do think the show has gotten better, I've noticed I hate every character on the canvas. No one is really likable, IMO. I am predicting this storyline will go down because Y&R has a history of writing bad "who done its". Ji-Min? Hell, they rewrote Skye's murder and never solved who's body is in the stables. And they never solved who killed Hightower. The bar is set pretty low, IMO. However, I agree the show picked up a bit in the last few weeks.

Actually I have not liked Diane since she was married to Andy. That was a very long time ago! I would have been happy had she been killed off at any given point in the last 20 years! I think that it was either Kyle or Ashley possibly. Ashley can alway cry insanity which she frequently is nutty especially when it comes to her kids.

I love me a good Soapy Murder Mystery (My top 2 fav's belong to 2 shows I no longer watch. The "Brownstone" Murders in the 1980's on GH, and of course, the Crowbar Escapade's on AMC. Sigh. Memories....)

She was in the park and tried to rob Diane. Got pissed when Diane got all "Diane" on her ass, and the girl offed her. My take is Di's murder had nothing to do with the fact that she was a shrew.

While the pillow thing is definitely a woman thing, I'm going with who is the most expendable at this point. That points to two suspects: Tucker and they'll blame it on his brain injury OR Deacon and that will be the way he exits the show. They started to involve Deacon towards the end and that made no sense to me, especially after he accepted a lousy $100 for that very damaging video knowing that Diane could have potentially made a lot of money off of it.

The thing that I'm dreading is how the DA is going to handle this. Knowing that idiot, he'll drag everyone through court.....one at a time.

Honestly, Y&R is, after AMC, the worst show at doing murder mysteries and part of that is because they don't really do their research or seem to know anything about how the American justice system works.

What angers me is they do BLATANTLY STUPID things, as if the viewers are all dumb. I don't care if it's "just a soap opera" as so many people say. If you're going to do it, do it right. That "just a soap opera" attitude might be why Y&R is circling the drain.
