GH Recasts Kate Howard With Kelly Sullivan

It looks as if a new face will be filling the role of a familiar character on General Hospital. According to Soaps in Depth, Kelly Sullivan has signed with GH to portray Crimson Editor-in-Chief and former Sonny Corinthos (Maurice Benard) lover Kate Howard. GH introduced the character, portrayed by Megan Ward, in 2007.
Unlike many of the various Brendabots GH had tried pairing Sonny with before Kate arrived in Port Charles, the Sonny and Kate pairing hit a chord with fans. Unfortunately, we haven’t seen much of Kate since GH put Ward on recurring in 2009. Reportedly, Sullivan’s Kate Howard will debut in early fall.

Kelly is beautiful, but I wonder what happened with Megan. I guess we will never know now.
But this casting has me scared now. I was thinking that Tamara Braun was going to be cast as Kate. According to rumors, she is still set to join GH. I am afraid that the show will fire Laura Wright, and De-Cast Carly back to Tamara Braun.
Ravenbeauty said that a huge recast was coming that would have people rioting. I hope Frons and JFP don't act a fool and fire Laura Wright.

I am sorry! I can tell from your avatar picture how deeply connected you are to the character. This is very sad. Megan Ward was PERFECTLY cast as Kate Howard and played her to absolute perfection. If she's leaving of her own accord, I can accept that, but I sincerely hope this is not her getting the Drew Garrett treatment!
P.S- I hope this chick can act. That's all I'm saying. I am sick of of soaps taking away fabulous and giving me mediocre or crappy in its place. Yes, OLTL, I am talking about you.........Jack Manning, anyone?

Seriously, does Megan Ward not want to come back? I guess I couldn't blame her after the way she was shoved aside when Lisa LoCicero was brought on as Olivia. I never saw the point in GH putting her on the back burner.

I'm not mad at it. I always thought Kate was a viable character but the show never seemed to develop the character. For me, the best thing about Megan Ward was the haircut. Sorry, she didn't seem to fit for me.
However, casting Tamara Braun as Kate Howard could've been a coup. I would have loved to see TB and LW go head-to-head. GH betta not trade in my Laura Wright!

I don't know why they recast the role when Megan Ward seems willing to come back. And if they were gonna recast the role, the ONLY person I would've like to have played Kate besides MW was Tamara Braun for the fact that she has phenomenal chemistry with Maurice Benard. But congrats to the actress. I hope she brings it b/c I actually like Kate Howard.

Maybe Laura wants to leave? If that happens thats the only reason I could think of considering she just won an Emmy. Tamara might just have a new role. We shall see. I am still way behind in January 2010 so will take me forever to see Tamara. lol

She kinda looks like Carly. Forget the Brendabots being paired with Sonny, now it's the Carlybots being paired wiht Sonny. They will most likely try the Kate and Sonny relationship again. She doesn't look old enough to have grown up with Sonny or her cousin Olivia.

Well, this sucks. I wasn't watching GH when SKate was going on, but I really liked Megan Ward, and this gal (though lovely) looks too young to be Kate.
I agree with the thought that there is probably something going on behind the scenes, because this doesn't really make a lot of sense.

But first of all, Megan Ward DIDN'T WANT TO COME BACK!! So you can't blame GH for recasting the character.
And please don't tell me Megan Ward IS Kate, sorry but anybody this business can be recasted with the exception of a few actors.

Beautiful girl. I just hope she has at least some of the panache the MW has. At any rate, I'm glad the character is back on the canvas. I miss all the goings on at Crimson, and Maxie needs something to do, already. I'm still curious about Tams. LW is great as Carly, but I miss the softer side of TB.

The way people keep speculating about Laura Wright and her future with the show, it's kinda like they want her to leave. We all know that nobody is viewed as indispensable at ABC, but I get the feeling that she'll be on for the duration of GH.
What people should be worried about is these upcoming online versions of AMC and OLTL. I'm sincerely happy for the fans who are consoled by these two shows continuing in a different format, but IMO their success would mean the end of GH on TV as well.

LMAO yeah lets cast TB in another role shes not suited for just because people like her. Didnt we already see that disaster on Days. No way could she play high classed fashionatta. I for one am glad this show doesn't have 2 Carly's on it
AS for rumors TB is joining they are rumors never based on fact probably because GH allegedly approached her before but that was likely to replace LW who has no romantic chem with MB. With Kate and Sonny likely hooking up with her, no need to a recast Carly anymore. And by the way as we have seen with VM, lightening rarely strikes twice anyway.
As for the recast it was unnecessary. Megan was perfectly fabulous and fit the role of Kate to a tee.I hope this chick doesnt come on with the typical long "soap hair" look and does something upscale and stylish like MW did. MW did educated, classy, bi*chy ice colded "Miranda Priestly" perfectly.

Thank God for YTWell here's the thing about Laura Wright. In Bob Guza's mob violence obsessed world of GH, Laura Wright's loud-screeching, hair whipping, feisty, Hell on wheels Carly fits as an ex mob wife and hell raiser.
In Garin Wolf's supposed return to classic non-mob GH, Tamara Braun's more softened Carly would fit better. Wolf wants to return to a softer side of GH, and hence that loud Carly may not fit. Not that Laura Wright can't tone it down, but I feel like they want to pair Sonny and Carly again. LW's Carly is taller and too strong for Maurice Bernard's Sonny. TB was a bit more soft and damsel-like. Not to mention shorter and makes MB look more manly.
That's the only reason I can think of.

I'm sorry, but I find this ridiculous. KH is supposed to be a 45 year old or so Italian woman from BH. Don't think this person as beautiful as she is fits the bill AT ALL!!

I agree...she is very beautiful...but WAY younger than MB. No way you could ever see them as contemporary in age. MB was born in 62...and Kelly Sullivan's bio says she was born in 78. Sixteen years is a pretty big discrepacy to pull off as being close in age.
Anyway I hope you are right Jlaff, in that Megan didn't want to come back..That would be a real shame to all the Skate fans out there to have her dissed like that, if not true. MW was very well liked.
It will be interesting to see about TB...I myself would love a Carly recast...as I loved TB in the role...and suffer through LW and all her yapping.
