RUMOR REPORT: Is Sharon Osbourne About to WALK From The Talk?!
Rumor has it CBS chatfest The Talk may soon be losing another co-host. According to a West Coast source, Sharon Osbourne has been telling people she's leaving the series. I'm hearing the wife of rock legend Ozzy Osbourne and reality TV queen (The X Factor U.K, America's Got Talent, The Osbornes) will be announcing her departure from the series "very soon."
"There's tension on the set," says the source.
The Talk is the brainchild of former child actress Sara Gilbert, who in addition to serving as one of the co-hosts, along with Osbourne, Holly Robinson Peete, Leah Remini and Julie Chen, is an executive producer. The show debuted October 18, 2010, replacing the long-running Procter and Gamble soap opera As The World Turns. According to sources, there's been enough drama behind-the-scenes to be the basis of a new CBS soap ever since.
"Sara may be executive producer, but Julie is definitely the Queen B," says one mole.
"The reason [former executive producer] Susan Winston was fired following only two weeks on the job was because she changed something during a segment that made a guest uncomfortable," says the insider.
Allegedly, when Chen informed her husband, Les Moonves, president and chief executive officer of CBS Corporation, of the incident he reportedly watched the segment in question and had Winston fired on the spot.
Prior to that development, I reported last January that Barbara Bloom was relieved of her duties as Senior Vice-President of Daytime following alleged run-ins with Chen. It should be noted, CBS denied my reporting to Deadline. If Osbourne quits The Talk, she will be the second member of the original panel to leave the series. Marissa Jaret Winokur vacated the talker in a "mutual decision" last January. Keep checking back with Daytime Confidential as the story develops!
