I am in the minority because I actually ENJOY Genie's performances on Y&R. What I DON'T like is the fact that she's connected to that LOSER Cane, who really should have never been brought back from the dead. Both Cane and his portrayer, Daniel Goddard, annoy me to no end.

I also see some chemistry between her and Peter Bergman. Since it seems she won't be going back to GH, WHERE SHE BELONGS!!!, anytime soon, I would love to see them explore that, although I think Jack deserves better than a woman like Genevieve. Maybe when Debbi Morgan comes on, they can do a triangle?

I have to say, as much as many of you are HATING Genie Francis in this role, I ABSOLUTELY love her in this role. I've caught glimpses of her on GH in the past and this is certainly a major departure from her and I'm so glad she's a part of the cast, even if it is only for a short period of time. She's just been absolutely delish in this role! Genevieve is diabolical, almost to the point that she's ALMOST more diabolical than Colin is. And I know a lot of you are harping on the writing, but geez, she has taken some really bad material and spun gold out of it! It really is too bad that she's not sticking around for good.

Genevieve surprises you at almost every turn. You never know what she's going to do and that is what makes this character so much fun to watch!

I dont think she was so tragic on GH. She played a kinda nut job there too. And I dont mean a mental one that she eventually became. She messed with a known ladies man, got raped by him. Now, I saw that episode, and to me I thought she wanted it and then later cried rape. If Im mistaken it happened in the club Luke owned.(If anyone remembers this better, jump in) Then she fell in love with him who she knew was unstable, had kids, left town on the run, over and over again. I dont call that a tragic figure for 30 years. Come on Genie, we need you at GH if it was ever possible for you to do so. You were never tragic.

Alston, I think you and I are the only two that love Genie Francis in this role! I've been enjoying every minute of it when she's on my TV! LOVE HER!

I too love Genie in the role. It's great to see Genie, Jess Walton, and Tristan Rogers. They make a triangle!

I am REALLY enjoying Genevieve and GF on Y&R. In the beginning I wasn't crazy about it...because I didn't like the storyline, I DON'T like Cane and Lily, and I Just found it boring.

However, I love Colin and Jill. I love Jill's rivalry with Genevieve, and I love everything else about the story. This could have been even greater if Cane would've stayed dead, Lily and Daniel would just hook up, and Genevieve still came to town. One could only wish.

Anyway, IDK why so many people are hating on Genevieve. I mean, on the past couple of podcasts, I was waiting for discussion about the stories on the show, Victoria and Billy, Jabot's launch, Tucker and Ashley, even Ole' Sofia....and all I got was about how horrible this Genevieve thing is...and how MAB snatches up actors and doesn't know what to do with them. True enough, I agree...but Good lord....this whole Genevieve thing is hardly even a B story on the show right now. They are barely shown, and when they are, she's mixing it up with the cast now...so I like it..and I actually don't mind her staying on for longer than 6 months...Just my opinion.

P.S. I love Genie on Y&R also. It would be fun to see her play around more with Jack. Calm his Jabot ass down a bit.

Another one here who is really enjoying Genie in this role. I think she is rockin' Genevieve! Love her with TR/Colin and her interactions with Jill ( and Jack and everyone!!) are great to watch!!

( As far as Luke & Laura...she was a teen who was fascinated by Luke Spencer- a man totally from a different world than what she'd experienced so far. But it was rape even though she may have had an attraction to him, she said "No" over & over. No doubt in my mind that it WAS rape.The fact that she ended up with him didn't erase that fact. He thought he was going to be killed by Frank Smith's mobsters and that, IMO pushed him to force himself on Laura when he may not have done so had he not have been faced with that. Not that I am excusing rape, it's just the way I remember the story.)

Desertrose - Thanks for the reminder. That whole think was sort of fuzzy for me. I really wish tho that she would stop looking at herself as a tragic figure on GH. I never thought that. And I would believe alot of her fans feel the same.

I love Genie Francis in this role! Genevieve is a hoot.

I remember her as Ceara on AMC which when the character started was a real bitch.
I knew she could do this too and I love it!

Another Genie fan who loves her as Genevieve but I hope she will return to GH as Laura when that show finally bites the dust!

I love Genie in this role! She is a little out there in her scenes with Tristan, but when she works with Peter Bergman its like the Genie of old. I like having her both ways though. Maybe she should tone it down a little bit in the Genevieve/Colin scenes, but other than that she is fantastic. Her chemistry with Jack is out of this world, I really hope they explore that.

Genevieve might not be tragic, but she IS pathetic. I can't stand her on my screen. All I see is Laura Spencer having another one of her "episodes". PLEASE return Genie to GH where she belongs! Luke and Laura's 30th anniversary is coming up...

I also think that Jess Walton, Genie Francis and Tristan Rogers makes a fine triangle. I could really see an intense triangle with of Jill/colin/Gene. This potential triangle is why I am so interested in Y&R right now. I just wish the characters and those 3 actors were feature more on the show, the little teased that we've already seen of this triangle already have me wanting more.

Not a hard core fan of Laura or Genevieve here. As I mentioned on another post-I wasn't into GH at the time of the Luke&Laura-palooza period. I did come to admire Genie Francis during the "Deception" cosmetics firm story line with SJB's Carly as well as the Shadybrook/False wedding material. Between these sequences and what she's doing at Y&R, I'm mulling over what she's doing and letting her display the range of her skills. Whether she's a "victim"? For me the jury's still out...I like what I've seen...I'm not in "love" with it. There's still time...

Um, how is Genevieve NOT tragic? I respectfully disagree with Genie Francis' take on the character and don't enjoy her acting choices. It's an awful, tragic, character only motivated by trauma and disappointment. We have yet to see anything beyond mentally-unstable. Tristan Rogers and Jill Walton are the only thing worth watching in this disaster of a story. Cane is an abomination of a character and Daniel Goddard is a piss-poor actor. I wish Genie Francis had been cast as a fierce and capable business tycoon that could go toe-to-toe with Victor, Katherine and Jack.

I have to say she's growing on me. The hospital scenes with Colin were a bit cringeworthy, as are some of the facial expressions and over enunciating she's been doing, but GF seems to be grounding her a little bit of late. And her scenes with Daniel Goddard are tiresome....oh, I forgot, anybody's scenes with Daniel Goddard are tiresome---PLEASE get rid of him. Or play up to his strengths--very little clothing and even less dialogue.

She just needs to go! She's a horrible actress! I don't know what the character of Laura Spencer is like nor do I care but she just has to go. She's the prime definition of HAM! I hate the character and everytime she comes on screen I cringe!

She's a joke in this role.

She might not be tragic but that acting of her's is HORRENDOUS. She can go on back to GH! You all can have her. I will drive her to the set personally if need be!

Smitty, Genie is MUCH better on GH. I love Laura Spencer. But she is awful on Y&R, as are most of the actors they've picked up from ABC or P&G shows. They just don't fit in on Y&R.

Genie Francis is giving Judith Chapman a run for her money in the HAM award. GF reminds me so much of Judith Chapman and I think that's why I just can't take this Geneieve seriously. Those facial tickets, biting, and cartoonish antics remind me of Gloria Bardwell and I absolutely despise that character!

If Y&R wanted a campy villainess, they should've just hired Stacy Haiduk back as Patty.

Having never seen her on another soap I guess I don't understand the hype. I think she's a really BAD actress. She reminds me of Brenda Dickson back in the day.
