One Life to Live Recap: Big Shot
Todd: Jack... he’s going down this path that is very dangerous and really scaring me... and it feels very familiar to me. What do I do? I just... Ugh... I start channeling my father. I start channeling Peter Manning, my so-called father.
Todd busts Jack trying to make a phone call, and takes him to task. As Todd worries about all the possible charges, Jack maintains that his actions were an accident. He thinks Todd should offer someone, anyone, a payoff to make everything go away, and Todd is dumbfounded. He blasts Jack for reneging on promises to leave Shane alone, and he mocks him for thinking the barbell incident was notable. He thinks Shane should have dropped the barbell on Jack’s head for being an idiot. Jack defiantly invokes Marty’s name and suggests that while his crime was an accident, it doesn’t compare to Todd’s rape history.
Tea informs Rex that he cannot legally marry Gigi now that she’s unable to consent. He throws her out, but not before unnerving her by vowing to go after Jack with everything he has. Echo arrives to offer sympathy and apologies for being out of reach at a photo shoot. They address Echo’s lies regarding his paternity, and Rex shrugs them off (she actively used Rex to sidle up to Charlie; way to have Viki’s back!)
John comments that Brody looks terrible, and Brody remarks that he got no sleep at the ASH. When John is surprised by the move, especially given Jessica’s return, Brody squirms. It’s... complicated. John receives the forensic report regarding Gigi’s death, and he and Brody head out to make an arrest.
Todd grabs Jack and is about to hit him when Tea interrupts and shuts down the scene. Todd confides in her his fears, and she suggests that for everyone’s sake, they remain calm and cool. A “candygram” arrives in the form of John and Brody, who present a warrant, arrest Jack, and haul him away in handcuffs.
Rex fills in Echo on everything, and he’s crushed by how Clint getting Gigi’s heart feels like she’s being killed for a second time. Echo gives him Gigi’s mail, and after she leaves, Rex discovers a glimmer of hope. Like the responsible and thoughtful woman she was, Gigi updated her will to include a healthcare proxy which names Rex. All it needs is Gigi’s signature.
Jessica cracks that she’s surprised Natalie didn’t stay with her new boyfriend, and Natalie apologizes, but Jess snips that she can have Brody; it would be too crowded now anyway. Nat blasts Jessica for abandoning Brody and her children, and Jessica counters that fiancés should be off-limits and how would Natalie like it if Jessica took John for a whirl.
Natalie calls Jessica on giving up her life, and unlike Jess and her mental vacation, Nat faced reality, which included her multitude of lies, and she owned responsibility. Jess accuses Nat of using Tess as an excuse to be a slut, but Natalie thinks if it works for Jessica, why not? Life went on, and Jess needs to catch up rather than expect others to stop and coddle. Natalie’s happy to hear Jessica has a doctor’s appointment scheduled, but Jessica doesn’t care about pleasantries. She vows payback and threatens to begin with John.
Dorian and David return from California fighting over a bra found in David’s dressing room. She thinks he’s having an affair with the Reel Dorian, but he promises he’s been completely faithful and she’s simply paranoid. While he fetches champagne and caviar, scandalous pictures are delivered to Dorian via messenger.
Starr bounces to Baz’s music until James surprises her. She tells him about Baz, and he instantly dislike the rude and arrogant stranger. When he dismisses his music, Starr accuses him of being jealous, but he balks. Starr shares a reunion with David, but when David tries to snag her iPod, she goes all Princess-Jessica-level of entitlement on him. James calls out her selfish outburst, but Starr claims that David hijacks items and never returns them. After James leaves, Starr grabs her crack music before wandering off.
David explains that all actresses are crazy, this one especially, but she did try to seduce him, though he declined and threw her out. Dorian wonders why he didn’t tell her sooner, and he reminds her of her tendency to flip out; he didn’t want to risk the project. He swears to Dorian being the sole recipient of his love and fidelity, and she softens, though she wonders who forged the photos. Meanwhile, Echo meets with and pays the messenger while vowing revenge.
Blair and Tomas return to the hotel from an all-night search for “spoiled brat” Sebastian (Baz). He enters shortly after, dripping disdain for Tomas and the backwoods town of Llanview. Blair blasts him for insulting her home and thinks he needs to be taught manners, and he has enough sense to apologize and admit, in eyeing Blair, that Tomas has good taste. Yvette accuses Baz of leaching off of her for too long, so she agrees to divorce Tomas in exchange for Baz. She leaves, but not before cryptically warning Blair to be careful. Baz and Tomas disagree about moving to Llanview, so Blair makes an offer: access to music equipment at Capricorn.

---Great to see Echo back in gear. Love me some Kim Zimmer. However, since Dorian is leaving soon, I doubt we will be seeing her anymore. Hope I'm wrong. It was nice to see her reach out to Rex and then vow to destroy Dorian and David.
---I really like Baz. WAY more interesting than any of the Fords. Though the whole music/dj thing seems a little forced, like "this kid needs a gimmick" and suddenly Starr is always listening to her ipod.
---Great scenes between Natalie and Jessica. Jess seems to have brought back Tess's strength and it's refreshing to see that change.
---GREAT scenes between Todd and Jack. You can see Todd (or whoever he is) loves his son and will protect him, but he also know his son is completely wrong. The next couple of months with Todd vs. Rex are gonna be awesome.

Yesterday's show was great! Loved Natalie going off on Jessica. SHUT UP JESSICA!! I rewound it like three times. It was just as good as Brody's truth telling from Friday. Jessica came back really bitchy this time. I like it and hate it at the same time. Her comeback about John was lame though. Please take him, Jessica. You'd be doing Nat a favor.
It was good to see Dorian and David. The story is silly, but RS and TW are fun to watch.
The Todd/Jack scenes were intense. The kid is a sociopath and Todd should let him face the consequences of his actions. It was interesting that he brought up Peter Manning too.
Baz is the new James. He's already causing trouble in Starr's relationship, just like James did when Starr was with Cole. At least the actor playing Baz can act.

I was so happy when Nat told Jessica to shut up, cause I was thinking the same thing. Jessica's comeback to Nat about John was so dumb. Who's to say John even wants you dear, you are used goods and i doubt he'd want another chick with issues. He was invovled with crazy Marty and look how that turned out. I doubt he'd wanna deal with you and your many alters.
Loved the Todd and Jack scenes. Andrew looked like he was about to sh!t his pants. I was mad when Tea walked in and stopped what was happening.

Nice to see Echo back!!
Don't shoot me however, really Natalie, how could you stand before your sister after sleeping with her fiance and try justifying it?
I am on neither team, however what is right is right, and wrong is wrong.
Jack. A punk. Disresptful on so many levels. However what he did is criminal and he should be punished. What he said to Todd, though disrespectful, was right on. And why has nobody called Blair??

I want Jessica to get John in bed whether by hook or crook. As long as Natalie sees it. I dislike that girl (Nat) and her uppity looking down on everyone nose of hers. The biggest HO on this show (other than Tess that is LOL)
I like Echo. I never saw the "old" story of her and Clint/Viki but I like this story and her. She is a powerful actress to bad she came so late to the game and the show is alsmot over.
What happened to Charlie, did he just leave?
Still wishing it was Rex on that hospital bed.
I like Old Todd (RH) and New Todd (TSJ). I want more more more.
Love David and Dorian and agree I hope they go out in style.

I loved the Todd and Jack scenes. TSJ was scary and on fire while AT looked genuinely scared. Having Todd reflect on Peter Manning in this moment was a nice touch and I loved his short talk with Tea.
I have missed Dorian and David. David channeling Bill Clinton and Todd channeling Peter Manning made this an interesting show to watch.

Yesterday's episode was great. TSJ was awesome, and he did have AT looking like he needed to change his underwear. Jack is a budding sociopath, and THIS is a good sins of the father story.
I loved Jessica and NataLIE too. Natalie made a few good points, and I agree with them when Brody made them, BUT there is just NO excuse for her sleeping with her sisters fiance, period! I like that Jessica has come back with a bit of a backbone, and I pray to God that she keeps it, and her hate for Ford.
David and Dorian, well there is nothing like them. They are amazing whenever they are on screen.
I see no reason for Baz as Tomas' son or as angst for Jarr. Hope having trouble adjusting to him is enough.

Jack being scared of his dad--some folks on other boards said he didn’t look scared, but as much as I’ve criticized AT, even I can admit he looked like he was about to shyte/wet himself and even cry a lil bit in those scenes--was the first time I actually gave a damn about that boy. He’s still a little snot who needs to be PUNISHED, but it’s clear that child needs the Fear of G*d put in him before he straightens up in any capacity. TSJ reminded me of one of those boot camp counselors that scare the shyte out of those snot-nosed, bratty, talk back to their parent’s kids and make them widdle on themselves … Shyte, he had ME scared!
Now, they need to tell Blair, because this is getting beyond ridiculous that she has no idea about her son, no idea about Gigi, no idea about ANYTHING except that Tomas has an insta-child. WTF having her go look for Tomas’ kid with him when her OWN SON is being charged in Llanview!
That pissed me off. I can only *hope* that his judgment was clouded at the moment due to his circumstances, because otherwise, letting something like that slide would be totally unacceptable, given how close he is to Viki … OMG, I CANNOT believe I’m defending Rex!

Signs this show shouldn’t end: I no longer Hate John McPain, er, McBain. I have hated him during his entire time on the show (except for when he was with Evangeline). And now, I actually like him, with those smirks, and gum smacking, and slipping his hands in his pockets and kicking in doors like a total GANGSTA, all cool, calm and collected. Oh wow, WTF is wrong with me???
Lulz, Starr was trying to shake it like a salt shaker in front of the freezer!!!
I love David, anytime he’s onscreen is great! He was REALLY funny on today’s--June23rd--show.
And like I said on twitter yesterday, Llanview must have one HELL of a sell on Jetpacks. Um, seriously, everyone gets to wherever in like, less than three minutes.

LOVED LOVED LOVED Todd and Jack. TSJ was rocking and it made the actor playing Jack tolerable. Loved that Peter Manning was mentioned.
LOVED LOVED LOVED the Natalie/Jessica scenes. Both had good points and both actresses were at the top of their games. And it was time somebody told Jess that she cannot expect to "come back" and find that nothing has changed and nobody has moved on...
LOVED LOVED Tomas/Blair/Yvette/Baz. I agree that Baz is far more interesting that all the three Fords piled up. And I loved Tomas with a son. Reminded my of my dear Alkie discovering a grown up Diego...

In my opinion, Ford was nasty first time he stepped foot in Llanview. The way he treated dumber then a box of rocks Langston and anyone else. Just because he takes his shirt off doesn't mean he is a nice guy. I would rather he NOT take the shirt off. He is an ugly/nasty piece of trash to me. Now James I like.
I didnt' mean that Jess and John have to do the complete deed. I would be happy if she drugged his bum butt and just pretended they had great sex. make Natalie go blind (for a while) and that is her last sight. LOL

And what would that have to do with who I like?? If you think I judge a person for their muscles or what they look like with there shirt off, at my age, that stuff I could care less about. That isn't what makes a man.
When all 3 Fords showed up I hated them all. I wanted them gone.
Mostly Bobby.
However, I believe he is a changed man. He clearly loves that baby.
Any man who is willing to dress up in a hot dog costume to make a dime,
is OK in my book. He has rights to that baby.
As far as Jessica is concerned, I deeply believe she wants him.
So if its OK with her, its OK with me!
People here root for Natalie. I have a real hard time after what she has done to Jessica that people root for her. Does she eat refined sugars??

As a future husband for anyone he is slug on the bottom of the pond, but slugs can be good fathers as long as there are no slug wives. Not every man or woman make good husbands or wives.

Melissa Archer looked fabulous on yesterday's show. She outacted Bree Williamson in those scenes. Ms. Archer has grown into a fine actress whereas I think Ms. Williamson has regressed. Jessica's behavior is appalling. I cannot understand why she is walking around threatening to murder her sister instead of being in St. Ann's? Also, weren't the cops looking for her and Ford? He was walking around free in public after breaking Tess out of a mental institution. Ugh.
Trevor St. John is incredible but that kid playing Jack is just as terrible as his first day. I swear he was reading off a cue-card yesterday in those living room scenes. I suspect TSJ was channeling true anger and frustration at that kid!
Rex and Echo scenes were lovely and I love seeing Kim Zimmer and JPL has been very good throughout Gigi's death.
Why is Baz on my screen? I guess to make me actually miss James because that what he is doing. Starr is best as a supporting character and not a romantic lead. Also, I think Baz is not credibly into Starr or any girls for that matter...

I don't buy Ford/David Gregory as a changed man because he has never cared about Jessica and by extension Tess. I don't even feel this love for Ryder because again if he loved him then he would want Jessica as his mother not Tess. He also seems as dumb as a bag of hair with his insistence that Tess as currently written is a whole person. And finally, where is his remorse for that original sexual assault?
I hate that once again, Kim Zimmer in, Ilene Kristen out. I have watched Thursday already today and boy is it a letdown after a terrific week, and Echo replacing Roxy is just one reason why. Another reason for the letdown, Deanna and Rick the porn guy. Is she pretty, sure, is she worth all the effort he is extending for a porn film? In a word, NO! Should they be on my soap? NO! This juror hasn't formed an opinion on Sebastian's ability to act just on the fact that he is an another unnecessary newbie in unnecessary newbie Tomas' world and Starr's too much story world.
Even the inclusion of RH in the episode couldn't save it for me.

@maxsmom: Today's episode was pretty awful The saving graces were Rex/Echo and Mathhew/David/Bo scenes, otherwise, it was huge waste of time. And that's my problem with OLTL, I have to wade through so much garbage to get to the good stuff. Rick the Porn Guy, really??? Seriously, that is absurd. He leeches around town "scouting talent." The seedy Minuteman Hotel is one thing, a high school is another. Ugh. Austin Peck proved that he could act on ATWT but mainly at infusing humor in his character. Infusing humor in Rick the Porn Guy just makes it all the more offensive. I might be compelled if the character was creepy and menacing, ala early Marco Dane but the "aww, shucks, it's just under-aged kids in pron-thing" is too much! Austin Peck should have been cast as Joey instead of Tom Degnan. He would've had chemistry with both Terri Conn and Gina Tognoni.

Maxsmom, excellent points. If Robert Ford truly loved his baby he would want his real mother to be back as Tess doesn't give a damn about Ryder. But no no no he is going for his sex fix with Tess (because I can't believe that a guy that can rape a woman as he did with 18-year-old Jess can LOVE, no way... can't forget also how he played with Langston).
I love OLTL and yesterday was brilliant thanks to the Todd/Jack/Tea scenes and thanks to the Nat/Jess showdown. But if they pick that garbage Robert Ford to be paired with Jess instead of Brody who has proven so many times what a good dad he can be and who has been rejected by Jess altars so many time also, that is just truly disgusting. I'd rather see Antonio come back and steal Jess from Ford (or Christian) than a Ford/Jess pairing. What would be the conclusion? Be a nice dad, end with nothing but rape a girl and you will end with a family???? It maybe worked for Luke and Laura but Luke had feelings for Laura when Ford couldn't care less for Jess the night he raped her...

I disagree that he doesn't care about Jess/Tess.
When Tess wanted him to run with her, he turned her down because he wouldn't leave his baby. That says alot to me about the kind of man he has turned into.
Jess/Tess. Whatever. He was ready to forfeit her for Ryder.

JAQ, DG is David Gregory, the actor who plays Ford. I asked that because most of the people who like Ford with Jessica do so only because of his looks, mainly his abs. I was being serious, and uncharacteristically not sarcastic, because I rarely hear a substantive argument for them other than his looks. Your appreciation for his willingness to take a menial job is one of the only real explanations I have actually heard in his favor. I do not think that makes up for what he has done to Jessica and still wants to do to her and her children. After taking advantage of her sexually, and that is the nicest way to put it, he used her mental illness to get what he wanted, thus further violating her. he does not care even a little bit about her, so I do not see any romantic connection even possible for him and Jessica.
As for Ryder, I will concede that he loves his son, but he is not a good father if he is willing to keep his mother away from him and his half sister and in a state of mental collapse. He is selfish and only thinks of himself and what he wants, he has not changed from last year in my opinion. I guess there is a valid argument to be made for him be allowed shared custody of his son, but considering how he was conceived and all that he has done to Ryder's mother, I would be just fine with Ryder having little to no contact with him. I wonder what kind of custody rights a man would get who tricked a mentally handicapped girl into sex and got her pregnant would have.

I loved the smack down between Jessica and Natalie and wanted more of it as each one realized that Brody was their baby Daddy! Yes, I have a one track mind on Brody being the baby Daddy for Liam and Ryder.
I like Echo and Roxie. OLTL needs to jettison a couple of folks in order to allow both women equal time with Rexx/Shane.
TPTB has spent way too much time trying to redeem Ford because it does not work for me. Ford is like a sexual predator who was preying on barely legal teenage girls like Langston, Hannah, pizza girl and a bevy of other twits out there thrilled to sample his hot dog stick. There is an old episode of L&O where these teenage boys took turns having sex with this teenage girl in high school who was mentally challenged and it just turned my stomach since she was trying to fit in and the jury let them off the hook. I thought about that particular L&O episode when Ford slept with a mentally ill teenage Jessica and it still turns my stomach having to see his face on my TV screen.
I like David and Dorian, but I don't want to see too much camp this time. I want some heartfelt Bo/David scenes.
Dang. I thought Jack was about to crap in his Pullups yesterday when Todd went off on him yesterday. I wonder what will happen to Jack once he meets Todd #1?
The next two months will be filled with teens and college stuff.
