BREAKING NEWS: Brittany Allen Wins Outstanding Younger Actress
By Regan Cellura on June 19, 2011

Brittany Allen (ex-Marissa, All My Children) took home the gold for Outstanding Younger Actress! It is definately the upset of the night, so far. Allen was replaced on AMC with former As the World Turns actress Sarah Glendening.

This is why you can't take Daytime Emmys seriously. Drew Tyler Bell BS AGAIN

I can understand why they chose her after the reel she submitted (it was actually pretty good)...but it's still a joke that she won!!

I honestly almost fell out of my damn chair and chocked on my drink.
I turned to my husband and said "Did they really just say Brittany Allen's name or am I hearing shit?"
Like honestly. This was the final straw for me, I am never watching this awards again. They continue to be more about politics then actual talent most of the time.

This is bull. Unbelievable. Lexi Ainsworth could act circles around Brittany.

I just love it when people who have been fired win awards! Such sweet revenge--like your peers giving your former boss the middle finger. Ha ha ha!

I think BA won because VI was sharing the scene with her. He makes every actor better!

While its true that VI makes the actors around him all the better, even his presence cant explain this one. LA was ROBBED.

What was on her reel? Everything I've heard about her was how hollow and awful she was during her time on AMC!

I feel like I may have a lost a little bit more faith in the Emmys because of this. I would of taken either Lexi or Emily over here they were both WAY more entitled. This is what happens when they only have to go by one reel and not an entire storyline.

I feel badly for Lexi. She totally deserved to win the Emmy. Emily O'Brian would have been my runner-up with Brittany Allen finishing third.

WTH? I'm totally shocked by this one!!! A horrible actress that couldn't act her way out of a paper bag on most days and she won? LA was robbed!!!

I am glad she won.. Shows AMC that their stellar recast isn't worth crap.
BA played a dead end character but there was no reason for the recast especially since she actually has more chemistry with thre actress who plays Bianca now than SG does.

The character of Marissa was/is awful, and BA was pretty bad at first, but I think over time she really grew into the character and improved as an actress. The second half of 2010? Overall thought she was pretty good. Still am kinda smh at her winning, though...Lol I really wanted Lexi Ainsworth to take it! I thought she had it in the bag!

Thank you for taking the time to find and post those, AllmyDaysatGH! I appreciate it. I can see how those scene would impress the voters (but it does show why the system is flawed, because from what I saw--and I wasn't watching by the time these scenes aired--I am still stunned that she is now an Emmy winner.

Congrats to her, HOWEVER...
I mean... I just KNEW it was Lexi's... I just... yeah, I've bitched about this on twitter.... Just... wow...
I just want to know what Jamey and Jillian said in the pressroom ... I can't remember who said it could be another Drew Tyler Bell moment with her back there if she won... well... now we need to know!

Hmmm, I think AMC's EP probably bribed the voters with something lucrative if they voted for BA, just like Brad Bell did the same thing with Drew Tyler Bell last year. This was the shocker of the night.

Brittany Allen wins over Lexi Ainsworth. WTF!!!!

I have two problems with this... first of all, the admittedly biased opinion that I wanted Lexi to win, but secondly... I'm tired of older actresses beating out younger actresses in this category. I don't watch AMC, but everything I've read from reading soap mags religiously makes me think Brittany could easily be considered a Supporting Actress. (But then she'd have to fend off all the leading actresses who call themselves supporting actresses to increase their odds of winning.)
Brittany is 25, last year when Julie Marie Berman won, she was 26. I don't know what the age cut-off is for calling yourself a Younger Actress but, if there even is one, its too high. If the Daytime Emmys ever want to attain a level of legitimacy again, they need to clearly define the categories so that there is no question about what category an actress should be eligible for.

LA was not robbed, IMO. That child is not that good. Plus, she reminds me of that girl from the movie Orphan. Emily O'Brien was robbed. Now she can act.

LA was robbed in what world. Newsflash DC GH does not nor have they ever had the best acting talent on soaps. That honor went to GL for years and even Santa Barbara. A good actor would have knocked that material out of the park. She was good but she should have been dynamtite with the material.
Emily O'Brien if anyone was robbed. An actress who got crapped on at Y&R for years and NEVER let down on a performance. She is 100 times the actress LA is.

the majority of her screentime in her reel was with Jacob Young whom she thanked in her speech.
I love that BA won! She was fired and dumped on just to be replaced by an even worse actress.

Further proof that the emmy voters don't actually watch any of these shows on a regular basis but judge a year's worth of work on one reel.

I didn't like her as Marissa but it doesn't mean she was a bad actress. She was just not right for that role. At least this will help her further her career in Hollywood to say she won an Emmy.
